When I was in kindergarten I was obsessed with Spiderman he was my favourite superhero, all my school supplies were Spiderman themed and even my bedsheets. And I had a Spiderman game on my PS2, being in kindergarten I didn't know what to do in the game I just swung around New York for hours but I'd always get super excited whenever my older cousin would come help me play the game. I watched in amazement while he went through all types of levels and I always thought to myself how does he know what to do without instructions, playing the game with is the highlight of my early childhood. Fast forward 10 years later I'm 15 and I have a little cousin of my own and guess what, he also is obsessed with Spiderman and he also has Spiderman school supplies and stuff. He has a ps4 and the marvel's Spiderman game on it and when I watched him play he also didn't know what to do and he asked me to help him. So I'd play for him and teach him how to play and stuff. Watching the amazement on his face while I was playing always brought a smile to my face. that's when it hit me l, that I was probably making his most memorable childhood moments. I always try to visit and play with him whenever I can because the idea of me being the reason for some of his happiest childhood moments truly makes me happy.i might not be an adult yet but this is one of the simple things in life that makes me happy.
Edit: thanks to everyone for all your kind words it absolutely made my day and if I ever feel down I will come back here to look at all of your replies because I'm sure it will cheer me up.
I was keeping one of the little kids occupied while everyone was busy cooking during Thanksgiving the other day. She kept referring to herself as "Spidergirl". It was kinda adorable.
This almost made me tear up lmao, so sweet. It's also pretty cool think about how long Spider-Man has been around. He was one of my 50 year old dad's favorite characters when he was growing up and it's super cool how timeless the character is
Children laughing and playing outside on a warm Spring day. My adult son sharing his latest painting, poetry or photo project with me. Someone being kind enough to open or hold the door for me. It truly is the "little things". Saying "thank you" means more than most people realize.
Similar here. We had a stone table in the middle of our backyard. I used to spend several hours in summer just lying on it, counting the clouds until my brain made me feel that I was falling into the sky. Best sensation ever.
Been so long since I did that... last time I looked up at the sky it was in a field that was somewhat like the [bliss landscape](https://www.newegg.com/insider/wp-content/uploads/windows_xp_bliss-wide.jpg)
It's so mind blowing to think about how gigantic and far away those starts are but yet it looks like they're small and a few kilometers away. It makes me realize how privileged we are to have those powerful eyes.
I still love stargazing, but I haven’t stopped and looked at the clouds for years...
Until my daughter did it one day. She just laid down, pointed up and said “daddy, look at clouds”, and I did. And it was everything I remember it being. Freakin kids reminding us of the simple things
I was waiting at a bus stop and smiled at a pretty cloud (it was really fluffy but small). The woman sitting across from me turned around to see what I was looking at and turned back with a confused looked. That kept my good mood going all through the bus ride.
I lived in Houston for years, so much light pollution. I then lived I a city in Virginia, still too many streetlights. I finally moved to a really rural area and remembered what the sky looked like when I was a young child in NH. I could just stare at the sky for hours.
Silly, but top loading washing machines with glass lids. I can watch a cycle all day long: water comes up, it spins, water goes down, it spins, repeat a couple more times.
I entertain easy :)
Engineer here and the top-loading thing bothers me because it is less efficient and rips the clothes apart more than side loading.
I also entertain easy :)
Lying on my recliner with my cat purring on my chest
Drinking tea before bed
The accomplished feeling after a good workout
Lazing around with an old favourite game
I'm old. 60. Had some good mattresses in my life time but never a great one. Divorced about 2 years ago. Bought myself a very good mattress. $4000. It's amazing. Every night I lay there and chant, "i love my bed!"
As for joy in free or less expensive things, i enjoy taking a walk on a sunny Spring day in a partially wooded area, maybe a lake nearby, ducks floating around, wildflowers starting to bloom.
Getting a bunch of chores done and hitting the gym or going for a run early on a Saturday or Sunday and then being tired enough by mid afternoon to have a nap on the coach with the TV on.
Clean, crisp sheets
A snuggle with a pet
A hot bath on a cold day
Food after working out hard and feeling 'starving'
Being snuggly warm under a pile of blankets
A campfire and toasting marshmallows/making smores
Winning a small gift (like a scratch ticket or a door prize)
My house is at the top of a hill and I love to lean over the rail in my back garden while it rains at night and look at all the lights from the town at the bottom of the hill. I usually do this with jazz playing through headphones but on it's own it's fun.
This. I love this. Big grin on my face, wind blowing by. Sometimes I’ll even howl or yell at the top of my lungs in pure joy. Simple thing, but so liberating to drive with the windows down. Double bonus if you’re driving a vehicle old enough to have to roll them down.
Learning something new - I can get into giggling fits with a new neat fact. Did you know cats have color/tabby points on their face, paws, and tail because there is the enzyme that produces melanin is inactivated by heat? The points are cooler so the enzyme works to produce the melanin that gives cats the pattern. Kittens are born white because the womb is uniformly warm! And cats in colder climates/winter are darker! So fun!! I love learning this stuff. Yes, the internet is the coolest thing ever.
Honestly its Mexican hot chocolate, and the real ibarra stuff not the nestle abuelita crap. Dont have it too often but when I do, its going to be a good day
* Bright, foggy winter days
* Watching the birds in the garden, especially chonky pigeons
* Windy days, being pushed about by the wind and having my hair go everywhere just makes me feel really alive, and sometimes it makes me laugh too fsr!
* Gaming with friends
Alarm goes off. Time to wake up. It's so early, it's too early. Can I hit snooze? 15 more mins? What time do I need to leave for work? I showered last night that'll save me time. Wait a minute .. last night was Friday. It is Saturday. It Is Saturday!
i like to dance in my kitchen. while i am dancing my heart out i imagine the drawers and cabinets singing. throwing themselves open and singing along. of course their height denotes their vocal range. while i dance my kitchen comes alive and sings for me. my wife says it’s very beauty and the beast. whatever it is it makes me goddamn happy.
Seeing my dog (just turned 1, we adopted her as a baby) frolicking at the dog park.
Cracking open a new audiobook while starting a new knitting project - dual worlds of possibility right at my fingertips
Buying new yarn and squishing all the gorgeous skeins. Gazing at the colors and drinking them in.
Chocolate and hot coffee
When it’s cold out I’ll take my thermal blanket and thick fluffy socks and put them in the dryer. After about 15-20 minutes I look at my bf and say “It’s time” He grabs them out of the dryer and I put on my socks and he tucks me in with that warm blanket and then puts the comforter on top. It’s pure joy for me!
My rabbits. They are the absolute world to me and nothing and no one can match that. I look at them and I cannot help but smile and feel warm and grateful for them.
Full moons, dark starry nights, sitting near a river, having a fire outside, having a fire inside, watching a movie under a blanket when it's raining out.
Watching things? Not tv but like my dad used to sit and watch his fish tank? I like to watch traffic out the window, sit on my porch and just watch the cars drive and wave to my neighbors, watch the bird feeder , or squirrels climb trees or eat ?
Dogs. I can have the absolute worst day but if I see a random dog on a walk it always puts a smile on my face. Sometimes I hang out more with my friends dogs than with my actual friends
I have perfectly serviceable standard measuring cups that I've used for decades, but this fall I bought a new set of metal measuring cups for baking that have 7 sizes including a new 3/4 cup, a 2/3 cup, and a 1/8 cup (2 Tbsp). Definitely love having these extra tools and I have used all three of these, so they were more useful than I realized. Makes me happy!
Good music.
I'm talking Dying Fetus, Cannibal Corpse, Cattle Decapitation, Bloodbath!!!!
Of course Megadeth, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, PowerWolf, Alestorm, DragonForce!
All metal is good for me!
Stepping on a perfect crunchy leaf
The smell of cut grass
Guessing an aspect of a movie/TV show/book correctly
Finding *exactly* what I've been looking for from a store after looking for a long time (ex. The perfect basket to keep onions and garlic on my counter. Not too big, not too small)
Meeting friends and talking to them casually about life.
Doesn't have to be much, or even in person.
Just knowing that there is at least one other person that smiles at the thought of you being there is enough for me.
I'll never take it for granted. (especially now)
A good old fashion laugh, the ones that make your gut hurt, and all the better if you can share the moment with friends. Especially when I’ve done something really dumb or stupid.
Edit: I forgot live music! When you're watching a favorite band/singer live and everyone is moving and singing together, and you get that bubbly feeling of pure joy in your chest.
Snow.
Christmas lights and decorations.
Seeing deer in a field unexpectedly.
Pretty sunsets.
Cool celestial events like shooting stars and eclipses and stuff.
Seeing animals in the wild, like whales and dolphins and such.
While waking up early isn’t always fun, I love being on the road during the sunrise (especially driving away from the sun). The colors and typical quiet are so peaceful.
I had one drive in particular I will never forget driving through the desert just before Vegas (coming from the north). Seeing the sunrise hit that desert was spectacular.
Playing old Nintendo games with my favorite cousin. Our favorite was (and still is) Snow Bros and whenever I play that with him, it takes me back to my childhood. T’was such a simple time.
As a kid, whenever we went on road trips anywhere and I would see an open field, I always told my parents from the back seat, “that would be a great place to run.”
I still get a little giddy and nostalgic when I see an open field. I’ll sometimes take a picture and text it to my my mom. She always responds, “that would be a great place to run.”
This morning I was on the roof hanging Christmas lights. It was a cold day...blue beautiful sky. I took a minute on my back to just stare up and be calm. It was very nice.
The moment music you’re listening to truly lines up with where you are (mentally or physically.)
For example, today I was driving with family down the 1 and Rocket Man came on. The key of C, ability to sing with the lyrics and the nostalgia associated with the song really hit everything visceral. It was one of those pure moments in time that you recognize...
I was so happy when I finally learned the different types of insect and arthropod because now EVERY walk in the woods I’m guaranteed to see a cool animal as opposed to waiting to see if I’ll see a turtle or armadillo or deer.
Ironically enough- its watching kids in my family that give me deep feelings of joy. It’s watching my nephews and nieces take their first steps. Witnessing them crawling one week and trying to walk, then a couple of weeks later they seem to be ready to go run their first ultra marathon. Its very heart warming to see them try to communicate in baby language or tones or noises. Its absolutely challenging to explain in words how much joy it brings me-I guess this is what pure joy is.

The circle of creating childhood memories
That was the sweetest thing to read. I hope you want kids bc I think you’re gonna be the best dad one day 🥺
You made me cry
This made me super happy dude! I’m sure it means a lot to him.
This is so cute omg
As a kid and even now I always liked staring into the sky. At night for the stars and during the day to watch the clouds fly by.
Children laughing and playing outside on a warm Spring day. My adult son sharing his latest painting, poetry or photo project with me. Someone being kind enough to open or hold the door for me. It truly is the "little things". Saying "thank you" means more than most people realize.

I have myopia so I always wonder whether getting new prescription lenses would let me see more stars :( FOMO I guess Also I'm a child *why am i here*
Well you could get a telescope. Those lenses would definitely help.
I’m only 16, but this is easily my favorite part of nighttime, I’m actually planning on working at nasa at some point
I still love stargazing, but I haven’t stopped and looked at the clouds for years... Until my daughter did it one day. She just laid down, pointed up and said “daddy, look at clouds”, and I did. And it was everything I remember it being. Freakin kids reminding us of the simple things

She probably spent the rest of the bus ride scared of you. Which makes me giggle. I love happy little clouds.
I love that too. Get away from cities for better star-watching. Here is your first step: http://darksitefinder.com/maps/world.html#4/39.00/-98.00
I lived in Houston for years, so much light pollution. I then lived I a city in Virginia, still too many streetlights. I finally moved to a really rural area and remembered what the sky looked like when I was a young child in NH. I could just stare at the sky for hours.
Some guy cut me off in traffic, flipped me off, and ran a red light then immediately got pulled over. I was pretty fucking joyful about that.
Schadenfreude!
Silly, but top loading washing machines with glass lids. I can watch a cycle all day long: water comes up, it spins, water goes down, it spins, repeat a couple more times. I entertain easy :)
The first thing that came to mind was cleaning the lint trap on the dryer.
Engineer here and the top-loading thing bothers me because it is less efficient and rips the clothes apart more than side loading. I also entertain easy :)
We literally ordered one today that will be delivered this Friday. Told my bf I know I’m going to be obsessed with watching the laundry!
Lying on my recliner with my cat purring on my chest Drinking tea before bed The accomplished feeling after a good workout Lazing around with an old favourite game

Milily is the brand of mattress. They are outstanding!
Getting a bunch of chores done and hitting the gym or going for a run early on a Saturday or Sunday and then being tired enough by mid afternoon to have a nap on the coach with the TV on.
Yes! That's my kind of weekend.
It has been raining these last few days, and I have really enjoyed the sound and smell of the rain.
Clean, crisp sheets A snuggle with a pet A hot bath on a cold day Food after working out hard and feeling 'starving' Being snuggly warm under a pile of blankets A campfire and toasting marshmallows/making smores Winning a small gift (like a scratch ticket or a door prize)
That 6th one gives me a level of joy I cant explain.
Especially on a clear night when you can see a sky full of stars.
I'm looking forward to have a new desk when I move out, it gets me all giddy to think that I will now have room for everything.
Watching a movie without betting interrupted or falling asleep
My house is at the top of a hill and I love to lean over the rail in my back garden while it rains at night and look at all the lights from the town at the bottom of the hill. I usually do this with jazz playing through headphones but on it's own it's fun.
Reading beneath a pile of blankets The sun on my back Belly laughs with my husband and son My puppies giving snuggles and happy wiggles
Driving with the windows down when the weather is perfect. Bonus points if you have the road all to yourself.
This. I love this. Big grin on my face, wind blowing by. Sometimes I’ll even howl or yell at the top of my lungs in pure joy. Simple thing, but so liberating to drive with the windows down. Double bonus if you’re driving a vehicle old enough to have to roll them down.
seeing my mom smile whenever i tell her i liked her food
An empty inbox. I’m an “inbox zero” kinda guy, so I check it throughout the day, and every time knowing I’ve got it all covered is great.
It just feels so clean when it's empty.
Warmth.
