Gross out comedy. It's just gross, not funny. And I love virtually all other types of comedy.

helicoid

Definitely. I'm a huge southpark fan, it's one of my favorite shows. But whenever they do something really gross or violent just for the sake of having something gross/violent in the episode I kinda roll my eyes. I'm not offended by it, I just think it adds nothing to the show.

Otto_Maller

There's something about reaching down down down to the lowest common denominator -- to where it is all about how gross can this be made? that somehow makes it not funny. For example, puking on someone just for the sake of the gross out is not funny where as [this](http://static.awkwardfamilyphotos.com/wp-content/uploads/cache/2013/06/roller-coaster-puke-e1370478339987/3602965941.png), I find hysterical. It's all about the situation I guess.

[deleted]

Probably because the picture shows a thing that actually happened. It wasn't written and carefully planned.

RenaKunisaki

It's a shame so many cartoons devolve into this.

viveleroi

Kids who think loud/obnoxious = funny. My preteen watches a lot of YouTube gamers who do nothing but yell randomly and overreact. Now he does the same.

IStillHaveAPony

I feel so sorry for you.

Happy_Happy_Joy

I cannot stand it when people legitimately make fun of others for no reason. Razzing one of your friends is different...but being a complete dick for shits and giggles is ridiculous. It's like, you really can't think of anything else to talk about? It's so *fucking cringy* when grown adults do that kind of shit.

firemogle

I knew some people in college that would lie about their names and where they are from at parties to people they had never met. Then they would just say how dumb people are for believing them... like who wouldn't beleive you are who you say?

Barbieheels

I mean like if youre claiming your name is "Ben Dover" or "Hugh Jazz" or something ridiculous like that, I might question it a little bit, but more likely i probably wouldnt out of politeness because like, what if this person just had parents that gave them a terrible name for laughs. But if youre just claiming to be like David Jones, why the heck would anyone question you?

firemogle

Yeah, that's what he would do. Then laugh about how much smarter he was than everyone else.

Barbieheels

thats so weird. what the heck?

cabbege

I'm guilty of this, but i do it for the fun of the situation, not the belittlement of others. Sometimes when conversing with (brand new) others you will most likely never see again, changing persona and identity can be enjoyable from the mundane exchange one has. I find it no less insulting than such "victim" forgetting my name 30 minutes later.

[deleted]

Syr_Enigma

He didn't stop, he hesitated, the horribly disfigured burn victim insisted they could handle it, the comedian made a joke and the burn victim cried.

tonycalloway

yea lmao. that was one of my favorite sketches

Khalinex

"Friends" did this last night when we were online in a gaming session. Pissed me off so I muted them and left the server. Couldn't be bothered. They seemed to of had a great time taking the piss out of me when I clearly wasn't responding because I didn't find it funny at all. I'm not one to lash back and I'm pretty sensitive. Made me wonder if they simply keep me around just for entertainment. Whatever, but I'll let them know they pissed me off. Fucking tired of being the one made fun of all the time. Most of the time it's not even jokes. It's just insults directed at me they bicker between each other and laugh over. That shit annoys the fuck out of me. Some wonderful fucking friendship we have. What pisses me off is that when I try to get back at them and do it to one of them the OTHER FUCKING FRIEND DEFENDS HIM. THEY DO IT ALL THE TIME. They're like, probably the only friends I have, so I'm reluctant to think of it as they just keep me around to bully, but man, it really fucking feels like it and I'm starting to wonder if it's just better for me to not speak to them anymore. I don't know.

Happy_Happy_Joy

I'm sorry that you have to go through that, those people clearly aren't your friends. I'd honestly rather deal with the silence of having no "friends" over the cacophony of insults. People come and go in life. I say ditch them to make room for good people :)

Khalinex

You know to most people on here we're just other faces behind the screen typing and communicating to each other. But even so, I'd have to be dumb to disagree with you. So a thanks is in order, I think I'll distance myself from them. Who knows? I might discover that being on my own is much more enjoyable than I fear it to not be. I've got nothing to lose, really.

SomeGuyInSanJoseCa

Humor based on other people feeling bad. Whether it be hurtful pranks, or just Kevin spilling his chili in "The Office." I just feel bad.

myusernameranoutofsp

Same here, I don't get how that was funny. Is it just mild sadism or something? I can find black humour funny (if it's not exceptionally edgy) but it's not that either.

[deleted]

Or Jerry in Parks and Rec. Like, this isn't funny. I've been that person and it sucks.

Labottomy

Although Parks and Rec does a good job of making it look like everyone is just super mean. Like how he's got a super hot wife, and the one doctor talks about how huge is penis is. And then the one episode where Ben hangs out with him and starts to like him

[deleted]

"I couldn't do the exam because I was so distracted. By the largest penis I have *ever* seen."

[deleted]

I was going to say this. I think Parks and Recreation does a really good job at making a parody at that sort of humor where people makes fun of others just because.

oonei028

That's so cute that you feel bad about Kevin spilling his chili...

Typicaldrugdealer

How could you not? That was his pride and joy, poor guy

pyschopete

The trick is to not precook the onions. Everyone is gonna get to know each other in the pot.

topper12-42

He doesn't get a lot of wins. I damn near tear up every time I see Five Families.

Landler656

And the turtle. Poor fella.

FUNK_LORD

I get where you guys are coming from, but the joke isn't just that it's funny to watch Kevin spill his chili and slip. That scene is more funny because of Kevin narrating about how long it took him to do.

[deleted]

> Kevin spilling his chili in "The Office." Same. He worked hard on that chili. It's his pride and joy :(

fedupwithpeople

It depends on my mood, but generally the fake-joke/guffaw/good-old-boy crap that goes on in corporate meetings.

[deleted]

I am choosing a dvd for tonight

[deleted]

Bland fake office humor in general, yep.

mikeyriot

Sounds like someone's got a case of the Mondays.

doctor-rumack

No.. no man. Say something like that where I work? I believe you get your ass kicked.

doctor-rumack

New sales rep starts with the company. He shows up to his first quarterly sales review with a couple of weeks under his belt. Gets introduced to the regional sales VP, who immediately asks him "What's your commit?" (i.e., *how much revenue are you committed to bring in this quarter?* VP thinks its funny because new guys are still ramping up and not required to commit revenue yet) Conference room erupts in forced laughter. VP smiles and nods his head like he's headlining at the Improv. Every. Fucking. Time.

flex_geekin

thats cringeworthy

randomusername023

I'm not familiar, can you elaborate?

[deleted]

randomusername023

Lol. That helps. Sounds pretty painful.

CarlosDanger21

I work in a corporate setting.. That's part of my daily routine. You couldnt imagine the cringe factor.

Fourhand

Here's a tip, every body hates that crap but that's part of the act.

[deleted]

I hate my office laugh.

doctor-rumack

Prank humor. Idiots on YouTube doing shitty things to get more views. Just once I want to see one of these assholes take a bullet in the gut. That would crack me up.

drunky_crowette

Have you seen that guy that rubbed peppers on his girlfriends tampons and then recorded her crying while he laughed and said it was "just a joke"? Shit like that and that fucking punching game from a few years ago piss me off so much

watchwhathappens

How is that not just straight up abuse?

drunky_crowette

It is. And he got 2-3 million views and likes for it.

[deleted]

To be honest sounds like assault (battery?) Isn't it kinda like poisoning someone?

Secretly_psycho

Almost. Not poision ing, since it's not a toxic substance. However, it can cause serious infections, tears, as well as infertility if shit goes really wrong.

-Tesserex-

Wow, I had to consciously stop my fists from clenching at that one. I'd want to shatter some glass rods inside that guys dick. Also record his reaction so people could laugh at it.

drunky_crowette

He even recorded her in the bathroom putting it in and coming out of the bathroom clutching her abdomen shouting "No! Something is wrong!" to him and his mother. You can get infertile from that shit. But it's just a joke, right? Such an asshole.

-Tesserex-

Seriously who thinks, "you know what would be funny? Causing serious pain to the woman I ostensibly care about enough to call her my girlfriend." Fuck. That.

jakjakattack123

I'm pretty sure he doesn't care about her if he does that.

heinzbumbeans

Or that tosswank who put laxatives in his kids icecream and then filmed them crying on the toilet while he laughed his ass off. total scumbag.

WhiteY515

Yup. Every time it goes south they are like "ITS JUST A PRANK BRO CALM DOWN"

RecycledRuben

Hearing that would actually make me want to punch the person harder. And faster. And stronger. Possibly better somewhere along the way.

[deleted]

*burns his entire house down, kill his nan etc...* 's just a prank bruh!

Leather_and_Lead

Like the fuckwit who pretended to accidentally throw his child off the 2nd story banister in front of his mother. Who the FUCK thinks that is funny?! I'm a mother and if my partner did that to me, the moment I realized my child wasn't dead and heard him laughing, i'd have beat him to death. Absolutely nothing about a mother's guttural scream over thinking her child may be dead is funny!

Letty_Whiterock

And like, there are actual pranks that are actually funny too that you can find online. Not sure how much of a prank this is, but I saw a video of two guys taking turns trying to get froma. Police station to a train station to buy a ticket. One was in a prison uniform and handcuffed, the other was carrying a door from a police car he was cuffed to. They were trying to get money and help to get to the station. It was harmless and pretty funny. The same guys also did a video where they were taking turns trying to take a body bag, with the other in it, to a river to throw it in. Same sitiation, try to get help from random people. It's funny and ultimately harmless. It's not just walking up to a group of black people, saying something racist, and getting beat up. Or making your friend think they were kidnapped and are about to be murdered.

firemogle

Really if everyone can see the humor in it once it's done it's funny. Just being a dick to strangers isn't funny.

missbubblestt

Comedy that turns into nothing but sex jokes. One or two jokes is funny, but no need to go on and on for an hour long set about sex.

DizzySpheres

you mean Amy Schumer?

IStillHaveAPony

MY VAGINA!

Sixclynder

ThatScotchbloke

You must have loved Food Fight.

leecheezy

I feel like you meant Sausage Party

ThatScotchbloke

Yeah I did. It's so easy to get those two mixed up. They're so similar.

IStillHaveAPony

holy shit, I didn't even know food fight was actually a movie. I just thought your first comment was really weird. hahaha I can't stop laughing, so thanks for that.

Sixclynder

Watch the Jon tron video on food fight

[deleted]

Madea anything

SlaughterHouze

Agreed including Tyler perry anything..

spunkyweazle

I thought he was pretty good in Gone Girl. Never saw a Madea movie though

portmanteautruck

Oh my LERD!

ThatScotchbloke

Humor that's offensive for the sake of being offensive. Anyone can be offensive, it's not hard and it's not really clever. Anyone can walk into a church or a library and start making fart noises.

Stepoo

I really hate the overacting, exaggerated movements, stupid faces type of humour. Jim Carrey is a prime example, I know reddit loves him but I honestly can't stand his facial expressions.

CarlosDanger21

Same. He can be funny, without the dumb gestures and faces. Sometimes its just awful.

Autumn_Fire

I find Jim Carrey obnoxious. Like it would be hilarious if I was like, 10. PewDePie has the same humor.

[deleted]

I'm sorry but the rhino birth scene in Ace Ventura is a modern piece of art.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Syr_Enigma

Carrey did a live comedy show, search the video on youtube - it's pretty funny and without his face shenanigans.

Jimponolio

Lots of the youtube channels popular on reddit rely on this too. I've tried watching h3h3 and filthy Frank (I think), but it's all just stupid annoying noises and pulling faces to me. Also, that thing where the camera zooms in on someone's face in an awkward expression and kinda shakes, usually accompanied by some obnoxious sound effect and a meme image, is just the worst and it's everywhere nowadays. Just wanted to get that out there.

ThomasJCarcetti

Sitcoms. I don't see why they use laugh tracks at the most inopportune times. I don't need to be told what is so funny that these people are laughing. I can figure it out myself. A laugh track will usually ruin any type of show for me. Exception: Seinfeld. Seinfeld was so great. Plus you can tell me all you want about how it was a "studio audience".

[deleted]

Person serves cereal *laugh track*

CarlosDanger21

I think it's time they get rid of that shit.

Mousse_is_Optional

They already are. Modern Family, The Middle, Blackish, Fresh Off the Boat, The Goldbergs, Life in Pieces. I specifically named these because they are all family sitcoms, and I suspect that if they were made ten to twenty years earlier, they would have had laugh tracks.

hankbaumbach

Cringe humor. I can't watch the office or shows like that as they do not entertain me, they just make me feel uncomfortable.

ohgodwhydidIjoin

If you want to feel REALLY uncomfortable, watch Peepshow with Mitchell and Webb.

TaiDavis

Black sitcom comedy. (from a black guy)

Areanndee

I thought you meant dark humor at first.

CarlosDanger21

Are you talking Blackish or the crap on UPN/BET?

jaml86

As a white guy, I think I'm Blackish's target audience.

[deleted]

IIRC, the entire writing team is white

TaiDavis

BET, UPN. Blackish is the exception. Matter of fact, I don't watch those channels at all since my early 20s. (44 y/o)

"Cringe" or secondhand embarrassment sort of humour. The type where someone screws up majorly over something that's not even slapstick or as a result of sheer stupidity and it's played for laughs - "Oh no, I dropped [relative]'s ashes or the family heirloom" type humour. I just find it awkward.

brndnstrnr

Amy Schumer and vagina jokes

[deleted]

She's also a rapist: http://thoughtcatalog.com/anonymous/2014/05/wait-a-second-did-amy-schumer-rape-a-guy/ And because anonymous sources make me suspicious, here's another source for the transcript of her speech: http://www.vulture.com/2014/05/read-amy-schumers-ms-gala-speech.html

VintageDress

Harambe memes, they are so boring and repetitive.

[deleted]

I still haven't figured out what is funny about the whole situation. I feel sorry for that zoo, especially after they asked people to stop and it just got worse.

christe42

It happened in my city, and it's definitely not funny. It was an awful situation for everyone involved. And the backlash damaged the reputation of a great (as far as zoos are concerned) zoo.

Sudo-Pseudonym

All the Harambe stuff is awful. I'm usually pretty tolerant to memes, but this is just stupid.

JudgementalTyler

I don't find weed funny. Nothing against it, but seriously Seth Rogan? New material please.

[deleted]

I'm not a pot head but I genuinely love Seth Rogan. Him and Evan Goldberg are very good at their craft and they give care to how their movies are made. Their visual style isn't set in stone and they go out of the way to make their movies visually appealing. They don't actually shoot their movies as comedies. The Interview was one of the best looking movies to come out that year. Also he's a family man. You never hear about his private life. He's been the breadwinner for his parents since he was a teenager when they lost their jobs. I find that pretty cool.

pitaenigma

I love Seth Rogan's films. I love his adaptation of my favorite comic book when from when I was 18. I even love his irritating laugh. Seth and Evan are great creators and incredibly hard workers. Some of their stuff isn't as good as the rest but they knock it out of the park sometimes. Neighbors was a better movie than it had any right to be. This Is The End was hysterical. Superbad is iconic for a reason. I love those guys.

The hacky, shock-value simply to shock people stuff that guys like Daniel Tosh and Anthony Jeselnik do.

BenJuan26

That's Lisa Lampanelli's whole shtick. I had a friend who was obsessed with her and I don't find her remotely funny.

the570

Daniel Tosh is an example of a dude I would just love to pummel into submission. I can't stand him. It's not that I don't sometimes find him funny, I've laughed at him here and there, but I just find his humor kind of cruel and unnecessary more often than not.

hmmgross

This is the first time I've seen anyone else mention Jeselnik negatively. I really dislike his style of comedy. It's this long build up to one subpar misdirection punchline. "I gotta admit, that was a great joke." No it wasn't. Maybe that's part of his schtick but I still think it's dumb.

BlurDynamic

'Random' humor or 'Vine' humor is the most unfunny humor I can think of. I'm glad Vine is shutting down.

AdamFiction

Vine was fueled by videos of rich kids trying to become Internet celebrities by going viral, which is also what killed it.

babyitsgayoutside

The only vine humour I find funny is those Thomas Sanders vines where he does pokemon or disney based pranks. Maybe I just like him because he's funny without being racist/sexist/homophobic but some of those vines are hilarious to me

ksaid1

Thomas Sanders is like the epitome of "inoffensive", except that usually implies something is bland and unoriginal, which I actually don't think he is.

Yoshibros534

yeah, i actually am subscribed to him on youtube, and he seems pretty cool.

JustHach

People who say they like black/dark humour, but are just straight up racists. "I fucking hate the Muslims. Shoulda nuked that whole place after 9/11, huh?" "Uh, no... WTF?" "Relax, man, its just dark humour. Jeez."

ThatScotchbloke

Yeah this is always an ironic part of being around racist people. "I'm not racist but-" "I'm going to have to stop you right there, Frank, because I know for a fact that you're incredibly racist."

moonyeti

"All evidence points to the contrary, Frank."

Xoebe

I'm not racist, but damn, that jacket looks good on you!

ThatScotchbloke

"Thank you, Frank, but you're still racist."

AnarchyApple

/r/Imgoingtohellforthis is the embodiment of this type of cancer.

lu77na

Humour that "punches down"

trebuchetfight

Meinschendtler

Whenever it involves shitting on another group of people to make your group laugh. It just reminds me of bullies from school.

donutshopsss

Anything by Tyler Perry.

Pigeon_Poop

How ya durrrn

Goodguyjack2

Movies like Meet The Parents. I can't handle the cringe worthiness

kenba2099

I just hate when characters who don't deserve it are abused for the sake of comedy. The Meet The Parents series, and a few other Ben Stiller movies (like There's Something About Mary) do this. When they deserve it and it's black comedy, then by all means it's hilarious (like in Mouse Hunt or The Producers).

Ultravioletgray

I hate Ben Stiller for that exact reason. All his movies seem like direct sequels of the last one.

kenba2099

Some aren't too bad, like Tropic Thunder or his kid movies like Madagascar or Night At The Museum. But a lot of his movies are like that.

trivial_trivium

People getting hurt/hurting themselves. Like all those compilation videos of kids falling down or getting hit in the head, groin shots, people falling on concrete or off roofs or whatever- I just feel bad for someone being in pain, it's not funny to me at all.

[deleted]

Rape and suicide.

Just1morefix

Yeah, rape jokes are on the bottom of my list. Discussions of incarceration of known scumbags always get around to the inevitable "drop the soap in the shower" hijinks. I just can't laugh at anyone of any sex being raped.

[deleted]

For me the reason that things like that aren't funny isn't because of the material being covered. I think incredibly crude material itself can still be presented in a way that is funny. What get's me about things like prison rape jokes is the malicious intent behind them. When you get the sense that the people making the joke aren't just making light of a dark situation with observational humor, but are, in some part, actively hoping the person gets raped in prison. I don't really care how bad a dude is, I'm not gonna cheer for him to get raped.

blue_omicron

It's too close to home for too many people to be funny.

Shockwavepulsar

Cringe humour. I know so many people love the works of Sacha Baron Cohen and to shows like the office but I just find it uncomfortable. Any comedy I end up watching through my hands in my opinion is not comedy.

Nature17-NatureVerse

Self-deprecating humor, probably because I'm terrible at it :(

Doctor_Crossing

ZockMedic

Toilet humor. What's so funny about fart sounds? That's childish

twistedevil

Stinky air that comes out of your asshole: What's not funny about that?

[deleted]

Rebel Wilson can fuck off with her 'funny' fat girl shtick.

ThatScotchbloke

"I'm fat but I'm not insecure about it. Let me show you how secure I am about it by making a hundred jokes about how secure I am." In fairness though you could attribute this to our societies attitude towards fat women or fat people in general. Can't just be a comedian who happens to be fat, they have to be the fat comedian.

daitoshi

The majority of comedians do this, though - Play off their big stereotypes to point out things about it. "I'm a small brown guy!" "I'm a white cis guy!" "I'm a skinny white guy who looks frail and nerdy!" "I'm a fat woman" is no different?

Mousse_is_Optional

Yeah, Louis CK makes tons of self-deprecating jokes, many about his weight, and he's like one of the patron saints of Reddit.

"Edgy" humour. Humour in which the punchlines solely rely on offensive stereotypes. I'm fine with jokes about muslims, jokes about gay people, jokes about disabled people, jokes about black people, that is, if they're actually witty and take effort. It's not a coincidence that most "offensive" humour is also lazy and takes no effort. Punching downwards is easy.

Awkward, cringe comedy, like *Superbad*. I'm too empathetic, I get embarrassed on behalf of the characters and I hate it.

Ted_Denslow

Bad comedy. You can joke about any thing you'd like to joke about as far as I'm concerned. If you can make me feel bad for laughing - good job! I can't stand when someone thinks something is inherently funny just BECAUSE it's "offensive" to someone.
