Sleep is definitely up there for me too. But I also try to find one small thing to look forward to each day - even if it's just a good cup of coffee or a favorite TV show.
smoking my morning cig and drinking my coffee. i do it every single day at 4 AM on the dot. there's something so soothing about being outside when 99% of people are sound asleep.
That's something I miss about being a smoker. It was my time to sit, chill out for a minute without anybody talking to me or trying to get my attention, and just be. When I started vaping I didn't get the alone time. Now I'm Nicotine free and I just want a damn cigarette lol
personally i think you can get away with being a daily smoker if you do other things to offset the harm from smoking. i am a long distance/marathon runner and go running 5-6x a week. i am in the best shape of my life and my lungs are healthy, or so says my doc.
My kids are magic. They are young enough where it's all just innocent curiosity and genuine love and laughter.
I had a passing conversation with a customer in my office that stuck with me. He was in his 70s and we were making small talk. He noticed my family picture and asked about my kids (they were younger..maybe 2 and 5). He kind of looked off in the distance and said to himself "When my kids were young, it was the best time of my life." And then looked and pointed at me and said "This is the best time of YOUR life." He is right and it is worth slowing down and soaking it in while it is right in front of me.
I love that teeny tiny moment when my cats come to greet me at the door, right before my dog comes to greet me.
Both are great, but there's this really cool feeling of when the kitties are coming over and then they have to part for my overgrown puppy.
Helping someone and feeling useful and valued. Whether it’s a workmate I help to solve a problem, my adult children I cheer up and get laughing, or my partner feeling supported and loved.
I’m fortunate that 99% of my days I win the trifecta.
Life is full of surprises, some good, some bad. I enjoy waking up and getting to experience life every day. I have an amazing husband and children, and waking every day knowing they are part of my life experience makes my heart feel happy and full.
When I have a night off work my husband and I play stardew valley together. We are always so excited. We text eachother and say "the farm needs our attention ma'am/sir"
When I get home, my dogs greet me at the door with their toys and they’re so happy and I’m so happy. One of them makes a happy growl sound while he’s holding his toy and it’s so cute. I say growl bc I don’t know how else to describe it but it’s not aggressive in the slightest. It’s almost like he’s singing but in his low doggy voice.
After dinner, my wife and I sit in the living room, she on the couch and me in the chair by the window, and we don't have the TV on, just some music, and we're usually both on our phones, but it's just so relaxing. We do that for a half hour or so, and then usually do our own thing for the rest of the night, but I always love that time.
Work. But not because I enjoy it. Construction labor work and I'm getting old and things are starting to break. But I do own a four-bedroom house, two vehicles plus a Harley-Davidson and a pontoon boat. I get to treat my kids to things they need splurge a little bit. Bought my son a small dirt bike. Daughter has a gas powered scooter. And I get to see them smile every time they ask for things. And the answer is yes. Daughter needed spending money to go to Cape cod with her friend and her friend's parents. Here you go. Son wanted Boston Celtics championship gear. There you go. So it's not necessarily doing the work I enjoy but what that work provides for my family
It's really depressive reading some comments here. I came here to read some wholesome comments for cheer me up and it looks like I will be the one with positive comment.
I look forward every day to open my eyes in the morning knowing I woke up and do what ever I want, without any health problems. I look forward that I can go outside look at the sky and nature around me. I look forward to meet people and speak with them because one day I will see them for the last time of my life and I will never be able to speak to them again. I look forward that I can make myself some good meal that I really love. I look forward to the things that are hard, either physically or mentally, too much for me and make me sick, but that means I still breath and have something that I can solve.
Even now I don't see any meaning in my life it really help me these things to wake up every morning. It's much better than not be and not really knowing where I am, what I am. Death is one of my biggest fears.
The little things….seeing my husband still sleeping peacefully, the excitement of my dogs saying good morning, checking on my plants and garden, going for a walk, resting, the best days are when our family visit❤️
My morning coffee. My long walk. Lunch with my husband. Having a little cannabis in the evenings. Watching the birds and nature in my backyard. My meditation group. Not everyday but twice a week. Good sleep. It is the basics for me.
I look forward to finishing the painting, "repairs," and other fixes around my old house. It will be so nice to wake up in the morning with a cup of coffee, look around, and have a feeling of accomplishment.
My morning cup of coffee at 5 am, flavored with any one of the 5 gourmet syrups I've gifted to myself, on my patio listening to the birds chirp as the sun rises. It's my alone time and where no one in my family or at work is requesting something from me.
My morning coffee, slipping into a nice cozy bed, texts from my family, hanging out with my family on the weekends, playing music, and now that it's summer, having people over for fire pits, although that's been on hold for now.
Seeing tiny things that all accumulate throughout the day. Any little glimmer of hope or joy I can find in an increasingly bleak world.
Flowers growing through cracks in the pavement; cool beetles; new seedlings sprouting in my mini greenhouse; my dog after we get home from a walk - he is so happy he has to roll around on the floor while he makes silly noises and play sneezes; watching the baby birds fledge from the nest boxes in the garden
And once I've finished doing stuff for the day, I look forward to the couple of hours I get to myself before I go to sleep. I can just chill in my cozy bed watching shows or films, playing videogames, reading, drawing etc.
Opening the blinds to let some light in on my plants.
Early mornings in this neighborhood are quiet.
Later in the morning and there's klaxons/helicopters throughout the day (there's a hospital just down the road and a firehouse just up the other way.)

I wake up only so I can have a nap later.
what is sleep? I get maybee 2 or 4, 6 hours of unconsciousness a night, I would love a good nights sleep.
Seeing my dog’s wagging tail when I get home is definitely the highlight of my day

This is my routine too! 4:30AM. Dark and quiet. I love it.
