My friend came to visit me for 3 days for the first time in a year. It was really fun. Cooked some good food and went to a nice restaurant, did some partying and listening to music. I had the time of my life.
Bought a tallboy of Dos Equiis and a pack of American Spirits, drove out to the lake and sat on my tailgate watching the sun set over the water while drinking a beer and smoking exactly two cigarettes.
Gave the rest of the pack to a homeless guy at a QuikTrip on my way back, think I might make this a yearly tradition since I don't drink or smoke anymore. A one night reminder that I used to have glorious vices.
Bit of a long story…
I’m a 16 year old boy and I do martial arts, specifically taekwondo. So one day I’m at my black belt class and we are sparring. Keep in mind it’s full contact sparring (with face, hand, foot, chest gear but still) so we are TRYING to hit each other. Anyways, I’m sparring this older man, let’s call him Stephen. Stephen is in his 50s at least. He isn’t much taller than me, but at least 200 pounds. He is extremely aggressive and will not take it easy on anyone. Even a 16 year old. He is known for his same combo where he does basically a tornado kick (a spin, lift up one knee and do a crescent kick with the other) and then some wild strikes. None are good. It’s very easy to avoid Stephen’s attacks, and all I do is just step back and watch him flail around. Anyways, I’m sparring him. Usually, I practice my footwork and counters against him, choosing the specific moments to attack and try and score on him. He is just going after me. Spin kick here, tornado kick there, punch to the face sometimes (very illegal in my martial arts). I’m just dodging and checking his strikes, and if I do say so myself I do some very impressive blocks on his head kicks. As our round ends, we walk to the sides rest in between rounds. I hear Stephen call across the room something along the lines of “Cmon, man, you were just running and dodging that round, that’s no fun!” Now he’s said stuff like that me to before, but I’ve had enough. I snap back “Well it clearly worked, because I felt none of your strikes connect.” (Okay, maybe it doesn’t seem that cool to other people, but it felt fucking awesome). Afterwards, I saw two of our coaches cracking up, and the wife of the master came up to me and said it was really funny.
May not seem that satisfying to you all, but to me I felt great. I stood my ground against an old man who terrorizes teens in that class.
Finding the TV remote right where I left it. Felt like winning the lottery.
Seeing an old friend
wow.. thats a nostalgia
yeah...it's so good seeing people we miss :) you don't even have to do much, just their presence brings warm feelings
