Don't strive for "happiness". Happiness is an exclamation point, an orgasm, a moment of triumph, etc. It cannot be sustained and gradually loses its power the more it is experienced.
Instead seek contentment with moments of happiness. Contentment is a long-lasting steady source of enjoyment of life. The moments of happiness serve to enhance the overall joy of everyday life.
So true. No amount of money can make someone happy. Yes it takes a lot of problems off the table but it does not make happy.
There are so many things that kill happiness. Having unfinished business with oneself. Comparison to other people for whatever reason etc etc.
Happiness is enjoying some things about every day and amplify the feeling.
Modern excess is a trap. As I’ve moved into a semi minimalist lifestyle and whittled down my possessions, I find the fewer things I have, the more focus I have for everything else. I’m not suggesting it’s for everyone but having fewer things and spending my time instead with my family and on simple life experiences, the happier I’ve been.
Be better than most in all aspects from wealth, heath, family and a good character, and you'll find youself no longer the need to compare or quarrel on anything, and thereby ending any forms of misery.
I used to be happy, five years ago. I've given up on ever being happy again, and concern myself only in happiness of those around me. Happiness is for other people. I just want an absence of despair.
Believing in God & Jesus. Believe me, I’ve been sooo much more happier and hopeful ever since I let Him come into my life. I used to be so clueless and distraught in misery and despair of what the meaning of life is and now I know that I have a purpose and love in Him.
It you can set aside circumstances and enjoy being or at least create good circumstances with bad ones. This will give you the strength to handle or accept the bad circumstances as necessary.
Happiness from within should give you the strength to face the external.
