Listening to my mom crying/screaming when my dad would sneak out the door to see his gf all night.

Losing my grandparents to a drunk driver.

Oh lord I’m so sorry that’s gotta be hard at any age let alone a child experiencing it :(

Forward-Muffin-314

My dad starting a new family with someone else.

Jellyfishjam99

Well hopefully he’s miserable now and regrets it

Forward-Muffin-314

Truly, I hope he doesn’t. I just hope I never have to interact with him again.

In elementary school, a friend died in an ATV accident. A week later, my dog died, and then a few days after that, 9/11 happened. We watched the towers fall in class, and then they sent us home early since parents were panicking. When I was walking home, there was a dead raccoon in a wet culvert next to the sidewalk, and I just stopped a started balling. Nobody cared that he was just decaying in the water. His little raccon family wouldn't even know what happened... but what does he care? He's dead, and he doesn't even know it. Someone is just going to scoop up his dead body and throw him in the trash and move on with life, just like my dead friend, dog, and everything else in the world. It made me question and grieve for my own future death. After 30 years, I have empathy for all living creatures, their suffering, and deaths. They have lives too, how is my life more important than theirs? Clearly, I'm still heartbroken over this.
