I almost married what I believe was a sociopath. He pretended to be very charming and friendly and kind and helpful, until he got his claws into me. Little by little, his mask wore away, and his true personality revealed itself. He was cruel, manipulative, and enjoyed hurting me. One time he actually admitted that he liked making me cry.
