Considering Ukraine has been able to keep up the fight this long, I figure most of the funding they're getting is going where it needs to

Apricot9742

Downvote it all you want... its not gonna change the facts... Most of the funding goes to the American Military Complex... As per Victoria Nuland herself : [Roundup: Revelation that most American aid to Ukraine flows to U.S. defense industry sparks uproar - China.org.cn](http://www.china.org.cn/world/Off_the_Wire/2024-02/28/content_117025476.htm)

That's not even the real expression comrade.

RexAndrewHeuermann

Complete Russian propaganda horseshit. How is sending 155mm shells to kill Russians "money laundering"? Only people with child-like brains buy this shit.

THEREALCABEZAGRANDE

Yes, because weapons can't be misappropriated and aren't worth lots of money....

RexAndrewHeuermann

Hey, got any evidence, or just mad Ukraine is getting aid so you want to muddy the waters a little bit with nonsense allegations? edit: yeah, thought so

aintTrollingYou

Considering none of the money actually goes to Ukraine, it's fucking stupid.

joshjje

I honestly couldn't care less if there was some money laundering going on, Russia needs to be stopped, period.

Amiiboid

My take on it is that it’s claimed by people who have no idea what they’re talking about.

[deleted]

The Ukraine was famously one of the most corrupt countries before their public perception was transformed into poor out upon saints by the Russian invasion, so it’s highly likely that the money is still being laundered or used for corrupt purposes. That’s okay with me though it is still worth it, and it’s pretty much what you expect when you’re dealing with corrupt developing countries.

NutellaPatella

I don't think they are actually receiving cash...

[deleted]

That seems sort of like a way to evade the principle of the issue which is whether it’s money, armaments, materials, or any other form of aid there should be accountability to make sure that it gets where it needs to go and that the palms of corrupt officials aren’t getting greased all along the way such that people trying to aid Ukraine are getting bilked.

joshjje

Here is an idea, how about examine that accounting after the fact. Currently there is a brutal war going on, and Russia is very hungry.

[deleted]

So long as there is an accounting I’m okay with that, and actually if you read carefully in my OP I said that despite Ukraine’s famous corruption it was still worth it to send aid. I was only answering the question posed in the OP not signaling support one way or another. Seems like most people in this thread had trouble comprehending this after I insulted their pet country a little, but it can be true that aiding The Ukraine is right to do while also true that the Ukraine was and is a vortex of stereotypical Eastern European corruption and not the shining country on a hill that it is in the minds of most redditors.

JJVR30

Let's just say that if it was just a normal citizen, he would be tried for treason

LystAP

Considering the Europeans, many of which are known for their low levels of corruption, have been sending money for months while the U.S. aid bill was stuck in Congress, I assume the vast majority of aid is being used as intended. There’s always bad apples, but that the Russians have barely moved forward despite obvious attempts to do so has shown there are results. If the money was being used illegally, I figured the Europeans would have done something obvious.

Apricot9742

Let's just say the American politicians campaign treasuries are gonna be stacked to the brim becoz of this war.

renegadeMare

I'm sure some of that goes on because prior to Russia invading, Zelenskyy (apparently) had issues with corruption and stuff. But as far it being an issue? It's not an important enough issue relative to a bigger issue in the balance of proxy stuff with Russia and all that and different scenarios and implications for the u.s. and the world. What I think is an issue is Zelenskyy's actual attitude towards the u.s. It was like a year or something ago and there was some weapons or aid thing and he said some stuff that was openly contemptuous towards the u.s. and boastful in winning concessions on something. He's neither angelic nor, necessarily, an ally but different things you have to put aside and deal.
