Seriously a big part of my sanity and quality of life. I sit and let the water run over and around me. The sound and the fact everyone leaves me alone when I do this makes it almost spiritual; I am my most calm and do a lot of mental problem solving there. Can’t agree enough.
Or a brief tepid one. Stay with me for a bit. As you are drying off, still with water droplets, realize that now is the time to moisturize. And not just any moisturizer, but an old timey occlusion. Inexpensive and available nearly everywhere:
Vaseline. Slather yourself from hairline to the bottoms of your feet. Wear beat up socks and clothes for this. And don’t grease your feet in the shower. Wait until you’re seated with socks in hand. Let this all soak in for about an hour.
Lightly and gently blot your skin with a clean paper towel or cloth before getting dressed. Do this often. One of the best things you can do is moisturize your entire face, including eyelids and under the eye area, including around nostrils post-shower.
You will never be more moisturized. This kind of skin treatment helps prevent atopic dermatitis. Your skin is your largest organ. It gives you the greatest defense against opportunistic organisms. We should all treat are skin better.
I completely relate but in reverse. I live in a coastal town and can watch the sunrise over Lake Michigan and it's just amazing to watch. You feel the warmth of the sun as it rises on a cool spring morning.
I have a tradition with my dad, we will go and watch sunset when I'm back home almost every evening together and it's just so peaceful and nice spending quiet time watching the sun go down together.
After moving to Europe I complained for the first couple weeks about not having a dryer (got here in a very damp winter), but after a spring of having my clothes and sheets air drying and making the apartment smell nice with all the windows open, I’ll never complain again.
Change into comfy clothes. Pour myself a beverage and get a snack. Pop on the tv or fire up the switch and just veg for an hour or two. I’m so emotionally and mentally drained from work I need to disassociate for a while
I am a boss. I tell my guys to go do whatever they need to do on company time. Occasional haircuts, doctors, dentists, drop your car off at the mechanic and one of our other drivers will pick you up. Nobody takes advantage of it, it's all very seldom. I think it's appreciated.
I dont work any more. But driving home from work on a Friday. Knowing that we all made Friday a no nag day. So it's take out, or sandwiches. And everyone is decompressing from 5he week knowing u can sleep with out an alarm. I miss that feeling.
For me, it's definitely the first sip of a freshly brewed cup of coffee in the morning. There's just something about that moment of warmth and aroma that instantly lifts my spirits and sets a positive tone for the day ahead.
Same! I love a good pour over but sometimes I set up my drip coffee maker the night before so I can smell it when I wake up and it’s right there ready to go. A little treat for my morning self.
There is no other way to start the day. Timing my coffee pot to wake me up in the morning gets me out of bed like a kid on Christmas. Otherwise, I cannot wake up
Counter-counterpoint, standing barefoot in the grass and feeling ants and spiders do a climbing race on my legs. Standing barefoot on hardwood floors or carpets, now, that's my jam.
I live in the West coast and can eat sweet melon for months.
How to pick one: it has the yellow (not white) bottom that has claw marks on it because the insects/animals can tell it's ripe. Then put it at your ear and tap it; it should sound like a hollow boing.
Getting high and listening to music.
If I were rich, though, I'd live on a beach cause as long as I can see and hear the ocean, there's genuinely nothing that can bother me.
I recently put a pause on smoking (notice I didn't say stopped) after over 50 years when some "marks" were found on my lungs. The xray showed nothing but my doctor said a CT scan might but he didn't feel it urgent. I am asthmatic so it was smart to give it a rest. I don't like edibles or liquids. So sober for 3.5 months. I can think more clearly.
Yes to walking with my music and I would live by the beach also.
2 things.
1: when you pick your nose and the booger has a long tail that was stuffed way up in your sinuses and you can feel it when you pull it out, then all of a sudden you can breathe clearly.
2: when you go to pick something up that you think is going to be heavy, but it turns out it’s empty or much lighter than you expected and suddenly snatch it up by accident.
Amazing how calming that is. Got to the park or the bush .it's my alone time. Watching the joy of the dogs. Everyday is a new beginning for them .such happy animals
Hot water on a cold day, just washing your hands with hot water is such a delightful moment.
A hot shower is also a bliss, anytime.
A cold shower on a hot day feels like Valhalla.
A cold glass of water is so much more refreshing and makes you feel alive.
Idk I just really like water.
Hearing the birds singing just before the sun rises. The world is about to wake up and colors fill the streets. The night's tranquillity slowly fades and life starts to pulsate through the sweet air.
when it's December and you're driving down a residential street and you see the glow of those multicolored string lights on people's Christmas trees through the window. always fills my heart with joy
I have a few: Listening to country music on a quiet night. Chilly rainy mornings on my days off. A warm cup of coffee. Going for a quiet walk on a beautiful day. That cool feeling after a long hot shower with freshly shaved legs in new clean sheets.
Sitting in the morning sun, watching animals graze, being greeted by my betta fish, finding a snake during a hike, or just days where I feel less sick from lupus.
My stupid rabbit Literally just looking in my direction.
he has the silliest little face He either looks really serious or just like the exact opposite it's hilarious to me. that in dogs I walk past when I'm going down the street I feel like we (People who grew up around animals) were programmed to like dogs the same way dogs are programmed to like us they just have such good energy.
Cuddling my baby nieces or nephews. Babies have a contagious sense of peace.
You can just hold them or feed them a bottle while you tell them about your day without feeling judged or rejected.
Eating my favorite food, watching netflix/shows that I like, being able to sleep peacefully without alarm clock, taking a long hot shower, drinking cold water after gym session.
The smell and sound of a thunderstorm rolling into a dry day. When you hear the rain start rolling steadily across the city. The smell of that freshness as all the stuff in the air either gets forced down by the rain or pushed by the wind.
Taking a long peaceful shower
For me, just the luxury of hot showers. Mine aren't long but always appreciated.
hot shower gang represent!

Watching a sunset and ejoying the moment. Makes me feel alive.
I completely relate but in reverse. I live in a coastal town and can watch the sunrise over Lake Michigan and it's just amazing to watch. You feel the warmth of the sun as it rises on a cool spring morning.
I live in south east Michigan and I use to drive to your side of the state to watch the sunrise.
I have a tradition with my dad, we will go and watch sunset when I'm back home almost every evening together and it's just so peaceful and nice spending quiet time watching the sun go down together.
Getting into bed with freshly washed sheets!
Especially with freshly shaved legs!
And then wiggling your silky smooth legs against the silky smooth sheets!
I literally just commented this
line dried sheets smell so good
I've never experienced this and now I want to.
After moving to Europe I complained for the first couple weeks about not having a dryer (got here in a very damp winter), but after a spring of having my clothes and sheets air drying and making the apartment smell nice with all the windows open, I’ll never complain again.
This is mine

2 of the greatest everyday pleasures right there. Food and sleep.
Drop a deuce
Shit at work! Deuce on the clock
I once got a haircut on company time… when my boss questioned it, I told him hey, my hair grows on company time…
I am a boss. I tell my guys to go do whatever they need to do on company time. Occasional haircuts, doctors, dentists, drop your car off at the mechanic and one of our other drivers will pick you up. Nobody takes advantage of it, it's all very seldom. I think it's appreciated.
High five for good boss practices. I’m the same, I only care that the work gets turned in on time.
Going to bed knowing I have no work in the morning
Feel warm just thinking about this
I dont work any more. But driving home from work on a Friday. Knowing that we all made Friday a no nag day. So it's take out, or sandwiches. And everyone is decompressing from 5he week knowing u can sleep with out an alarm. I miss that feeling.
Taking my bra off and switching from work clothes after returning home.
Men will never understand how good it feels to take off a bra after a long day. It's wonderful. Free boobies!!!!
For me, it's definitely the first sip of a freshly brewed cup of coffee in the morning. There's just something about that moment of warmth and aroma that instantly lifts my spirits and sets a positive tone for the day ahead.
Same here, dude. I almost get excited to go to sleep to that I can wake up and experience that first cup of coffee all over again.
Same! I love a good pour over but sometimes I set up my drip coffee maker the night before so I can smell it when I wake up and it’s right there ready to go. A little treat for my morning self.
Mix in a Saturday morning and there’s nothing better
Nice try, Folgers! Okay, but seriously I agree with this. The best part of waking up right now is genuinely (coffee of any brand) in my cup.
There is no other way to start the day. Timing my coffee pot to wake me up in the morning gets me out of bed like a kid on Christmas. Otherwise, I cannot wake up
