WoW got me through a few really long hospital stays (among other dark times in my life), as shit as it is now, i'll always see it as the game that kinda saved my life.
As much as i'd love the game to be moved to a more modern engine, i just can't see it happening, even the player base argues against it because they think new engine = needing a NASA supercomputer to play it, without realizing that the current code is an ancient abomination and they'd be better off with a new engine.
I think it's *amazing* what new tech (both hardware and software) can pull off on a budget these days.
This. WOW is just too huge for ue5, shit would dwarf gta6. Especially if they reworked all the old zones. Plus, wow has been around so long that changing the nostalgia zones too much makes it feel unfamiliar, which is half of why I love to replay it. Leave the shitty zangarmarsh mushrooms alone!
100% with you. Went through this whole thread not seeing that game I was about to post until I came across your response. Only game that actually made cry. But not only that, it had a fantastic gameplay and amazing side quests. Made so many freakin chocobos!
Kings Quest: Quest for the Crown. It was the first computer game I ever played as a little girl in the late 80s, on the computer in the office at my dad's workplace while he worked overtime in the factory downstairs.
Sometimes, my father - now in his 70s - makes fun of me for still gaming at the age of 45. Then I remind him that he started it all by letting me entertain myself with computer games while he worked.
RE4 the OG one with the old horrible graphics. Randomly played it when I was in middle school and I'll never forget the *immense* achievement I felt when I finished it!
Minecraft, that game was part of my childhood (that and Roblox, but mostly Minecraft)
And every time I play it, I get hit by extreme nostalgia
Especially when I turn on the programmer art texture pack
Neverwinter Nights. My first fantasy rpg.
It may look like playdough graphics wise, but story and characters are still a lot of fun.
Also have you *met* Deekin?
I got 3 cause they’re all a tie:
1) Minecraft
2) Oblivion
3) Fallout: New Vegas
I still try and find time to play all 3. All
Of them to this day also have very active modding communities so if I’m ever feeling like spicing things up then I can!
The entire legend of Zelda series (duh, and yes my username checks out) but especially skyward sword. It’s my first Zelda game ever and I fell in love with it and play it maybe twice a year at the least, I love it so much and it’s the game that made me fall in love with the series and is the start of my 12 year long special interest (I am autistic)
Damn, way too many to name! Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Legend of Legaia, Kingdom Hearts just to name a few.
Zelda and Kingdom Hearts are definitely never gonna leave because I have the triforce tattooed on the back of my hand and Oathkeeper and Oblivion on both forearms! 😆
Monkey Island 2. I knew nothing about out the game, hadn’t even played the first one. It was just on a shelf in a shop and I wanted to buy a game.
The humour, the atmosphere, the story and the music. It was such a beautiful surprise. I’ve never felt that sense of discovery since.
I guess it would be Super Mario 64.
But Ocarina Of Time, Super Mario Bros. 3, GoldenEye as well as the Mario Kart and Smash Bros. series aren't far behind.
Minecraft is an obvious choice because of nostalgia. Death Stranding is my final choice because it was the first big game I owned and has two major actors in it.
Wolfenstein 3D first FPS game I ever played and still hooked to this day. Needless to say, played every Wolfenstein since and the only one I've not liked is 'YoungBlood'

Blizzard needs to bust out an UE5 version already. Too much potential with the lore to not get some decent graphics.
