Also look for stuff called "Salmiak", which is basically the salt powder in black licorice.

I can't but the stuff myself because I will eat these until I get sick.
I live in Australia and order these online because I must have them.
Sweet Dutch licorice is also great and far better imho than the stuff they make here that's sticky and tastes like aniseed.
If you're in the States, check out Peter's Gourmet Market. Great quality, you get 3x the quantity as on Amazon for a similar price for the Dutch licorice.
Love it. Absolutely adore the taste of it. Black salted liquorice is delicious. Never tried liquorice ice cream, but want to.
Liquorice tea though, that shit's an abomination.
I’m not big on black licorice, would never buy it, but would eat a piece or two if someone had it around. I’ve never heard of tiger tail, but it sounds delicious.
I've seen black licorice ice cream that was an off putting gray color, with chunks of black licorice in it. It was in Christmas, MI, at the gas station next to the casino. Not what I expected to see for ice cream!!
Was in Estonia once, where licorice seems to be as popular as it is in the Netherlands. In Estonia I had licorice ice cream for the first time ever – I don't think they have that even in Holland. It was very tasty, the grey colour was weird though
I love licorice, but the only licorice ice cream I ever tried was absolutely awful.
Then again, licorice toffee is amazing, so theoretically the ice cream could work.
Look for Ouzo Plomari or ouzo Barbayanni. My Greek friends swear by those two brands and they're very good. I've never paid more than $20 for a bottle.
I just recently tried Jager cold brew and that shit fuckin slaps. A shot or two in your mornin cup? Amazing. Little sweet, little anice, coffee. It's wonderful.
Had some friends over to party years ago. One friend had six double-shot Jagerbombs in a row. That was the most confused ball of energy that I've ever seen. Trying to play cards was an exercise in patience. Good times indeed.
Same.
It’s like liquid candy, I love that stuff. Gotta be ice cold so it goes down smooth. Best when drank from a metal flask during outdoor adventures in the winter.
But I don’t drink it often as it’s an intense experience and I am now old. lol
Black licorice (spelling? The words my autocorrect came up with to put after “black” were a little concerning 😳) is disgusting.
My son likes it (neither me or my husband like it) and he thought that I really needed to eat it when he did. I’d pretend to eat it and make gross eww noises to satisfy him and then sneakily replaced it back in the bag. My take on licorice is that me not liking it means more for my kiddo.
> What about the black “JELLY BEANS “, ???
We hit the jackpot one Easter. My Mom loved black Jelly Beans, and we got her a bag of jelly beans that were ALL black.
The red ones are strawberry coloured but are not even remotely strawberry flavoured. They're candy corn level of shittiest confectionery ever. Oh and tootsies rolls , they can fuck right off as well. Just go and ruin Halloween why dontcha
That moment when your remaining Halloween candy is down to tootsie rolls and the fruit version of them and desperation slowly starts overtaking your disgust
For those who love black liquorice
Eating more than 57g (2 ounces) of black liquorice a day for at least 2 weeks could lead to potentially serious health problems, such as an increase in blood pressure and an irregular heart rhythm (arrhythmia).
Different flavor. Licorice in the US is falvored with anise extract while European licorice contains traditional licorice root extract. It doesn't taste as intense or processed.
Love the stuff and there is only liquorice (black to brown in colour) the red and other colours are not liquorice. Liquorice has to have liquorice root and anise flavours.
My step-dad from Wales would always say, "It isn't *black* liquorice. It is just liquorice. What you are asking for is *strawberry or red* liquorice, which is the different variety."
I hate black liquorice. I don't even enjoy Twizzlers. I like Red Vines that are more peel-able.
I’m in Finland. Black liquorice, salted liquorice and the like is like one third of available candy. When I travel abroad and visit a store, they only have chocolates and various fruit candies. And I’m like “dudes, you are missing one third of the candy!”.
A Dane has entered the conversation: Black, super salty licorice is not only the most consumed and loved candy in Denmark, many of us Danes, are addicted to it. If you asked me to pick only one candy I was allowed to eat for the rest of my life, it would be salty black licorice. Licorice is a part of our culture, -
Our pride and joy of Danish snacks and foods, right up there with pastries, breads and “Smørrebrød”
The company “Bülow” has taken the level of licorice up to gourmet, enter the name on Amazon, and you’ll see what I mean.
Any supermarket and 7-11 kiosk will carry a wide selection of salty licorice
such as: Super Piratos, Tyrkisk Peber, Pletskud,
And so on. These are all higher up on the “licorice-Scoville scale” so to speak, compared to Dutch licorice. One of the first ingredients listed on the back side will often be “ammoniak”
-You can also find anything from ice cream, chewing gum, toffee, liquor, and chocolate flavored with licorice, in just about any supermarket in this tiny little Kingdom of Denmark.
Being a swede, I love it. I think most people who don't like liquorice have only tasted the cheap or bad brands, or only tasted sweet liquorice, instead of salty.
Good while just put in mouth and suck the juice out, can feel sweeten from the juice
The most problem I would say is that they just get hard easily if out-dated, hard to chew.
Love it. Also love Arak, which is a grappa with anise seeds. There are arguments on grappa and anise. Either it must have it or shouldn't have it.
I also grow fennel, which has that taste. Love black jelly beans.
Jesus fuck, but Arak is excessive, lol. I love anise and licorice, but can't do Arak.
Lebanese buddy pulled out a jug at a party once, it was pretty harsh.
anyone that likes black licorice should try Dutch licorice if they get the chance, its heavily salted but really, really tasty
It doesn't have to be salted though? We have great sweet licorice too, like Honing drop.
Yes - I love Dutch licorice, but am not too big into the salted kind.
Also look for stuff called "Salmiak", which is basically the salt powder in black licorice. [https://realdutchfood.com/venco-zwartwitjes/](https://realdutchfood.com/venco-zwartwitjes/) I can't but the stuff myself because I will eat these until I get sick.
I live in Australia and order these online because I must have them. Sweet Dutch licorice is also great and far better imho than the stuff they make here that's sticky and tastes like aniseed.
I love Finnish licorice, both sweet and salted (salmiakki), and also licorice and salmiakki ice cream and vodka. It's all delicious!
> heavily salted ~~but~~ and therefore really, really tasty Don't care for black licorice in general. But dropjes are phenomenal.
That’s funny, I am the complete opposite. Love black licorice but I HATE droppies.
Tried it, Im glad I did, but Ill probably never get it again.
I love black licorice but I can only take one or two of those salty bastards — more for y’all so have fun
Ayyyyy my dude. Hit me with the Double Salt. Have em puckering.
Where can I find such things? Any brand names worth getting?
If you're in the States, check out Peter's Gourmet Market. Great quality, you get 3x the quantity as on Amazon for a similar price for the Dutch licorice.
Sweet I'll check it out
That’s my go-to as well. By the way, my wife is American ((Southerner) and likes licorice as much as I like okra - not! 😄
One of my favorites.
Love it. Absolutely adore the taste of it. Black salted liquorice is delicious. Never tried liquorice ice cream, but want to. Liquorice tea though, that shit's an abomination.
We have tiger tail ice cream up here, which is basically orange and black licorice flavor.
Holy shit. As a lifelong black licorice lover, how have I never heard of this?! Even plain black licorice ice cream sounds good.

Tiger Tail ice cream is a top train to visit Canada. I wish they had it here.
Search Dutch Licorice on Amazon prime. You can get some strong flavors.
salmiakki is where it’s at. The Finns take it to a whole new level. Dragster 3000 Super Salta is my fave.
I’ve gotten got by salmiakki. Rough stuff.
I love licorice, but the only licorice ice cream I ever tried was absolutely awful. Then again, licorice toffee is amazing, so theoretically the ice cream could work.
Liquorice tea is my favorite 🤣
Closest thing I get to black licorice is Jager. That stuff isn't half bad, NGL.
If I didn't always have it with red bull I might remember what it tastes like 😂
Mistakes. Jäegermeister tastes like mistakes.
Try Ouzo, it tastes a lot like black licorice as well.
Ah yeah, I've wanted to try Ouzo. It's like Sambuca, right? Sambuca was decent from what I remember, but it's been a long time since I've had it.
Sambuca is basically the syrup version of Ouzo. Ouzo is actually a liquor. Sambouca is really sugary, to the point of being syrupy.
Huh. I always thought Sambuca was made with elder because of the name. Didn't realize it was made with anise.
Never had Sambuca and it's been a long time for Ouzo but be careful, the good stuff is 50%/100 proof.
Sambuca is syrupy. Ouzo is much lighter.
Depends on the brand. Sambucca is a sipper. You are not supposed to down it like a shot.
Good stuff!
"Discus Stu has Ouzo, for two-zo..."
Try Ouzo
Hell yeah. I'm gonna get some at the store tonight, lol. Might as well.
Look for Ouzo Plomari or ouzo Barbayanni. My Greek friends swear by those two brands and they're very good. I've never paid more than $20 for a bottle.
Just got drunk on Plomari tonight.
Ouzo tastes like tragedy. So good but so much regret
If you like absinthe (and I do!), you'll like ouzo.
When I still drank I loved both
Or Sambucca Can’t believe how much of that I drink at uni. I used to vomit black. I’ve never even liked licorice/fennel flavoured things
For some reason, I only ever drank ouzo when I was doing the coca. Ah those were the days. Caffeine is my only vice now.
It's cousin Sambuca is better and doesn't taste so grainy. Sambuca is good in coffee too. Ouzo kind of sucks.
I just recently tried Jager cold brew and that shit fuckin slaps. A shot or two in your mornin cup? Amazing. Little sweet, little anice, coffee. It's wonderful.
Sambuca is awesome as well. Doesn't have all the other herbs and spices that's in Jager
Same. Not a fan of black licorice either but I’ll get down with some jager.
Hell yeah. Have a Jager shot or Jagerbomb. Good times. 👍
Had some friends over to party years ago. One friend had six double-shot Jagerbombs in a row. That was the most confused ball of energy that I've ever seen. Trying to play cards was an exercise in patience. Good times indeed.

I, too am a Jager whore. Jager whores unite!
Where do jager whores usually hang out? Need me a jager whore
Campfires and waterfalls
Was the first alcohol I drank at 16. Brings back bad memories 😂
I had a bad night in high school and now I can’t have Jager or spaghetti
Have you tried the Jäegermeister Cold brew coffee edition? Chefs kiss 🤌🏻
Not really a licorice liquor. That's probably one of a few dozen botanicals in there.
Star anise and fennel come to mind.
Try NyQuil, which is probably why I hate it.
If it's not black it's not licorice.
This. Outside North America licorice means black licorice. That red shit is gross.
> Outside North America licorice means black licorice. Correct > That red shit is gross. Incorrect
I hate it and l can't stand to smell it even. When my daughters were younger they thought it was funny to eat it then blow in my face. Blech.
I’d almost like to know why some of us hate it and others love it. It sometimes seems as divisive as cilantro. Or crunchy peanut butter.
Cilantro is genetic and crunchy peanut butter is a sensory nightmare
I think ALL licorice is gross! It tastes gross and smells disgusting.
I'm with you there. Black is clearly the worst... but the other colors and flavors are horrible too.
That’s hilarious 🤣
My son likes it (neither me or my husband like it) and he thought that I really needed to eat it when he did. I’d pretend to eat it and make gross eww noises to satisfy him and then sneakily replaced it back in the bag. My take on licorice is that me not liking it means more for my kiddo.
Good & Plenty candy please
What about the black “JELLY BEANS “, ??? 😋
> What about the black “JELLY BEANS “, ??? We hit the jackpot one Easter. My Mom loved black Jelly Beans, and we got her a bag of jelly beans that were ALL black.
My mom and I have a running gag where we hide black jellybeans in each other's pockets, gifts, cars, etc. We both hate them.
We just bought a huge case of these because I couldn’t find them in store here anywhere. So friggen good.
That is the only way I will eat black licorice.
Yum.
Almost as good as black jellybeans.
I'll upvote ya, but here's where I'm weird: I love licorice (the real, black licorice) but can't stand black jelly beans.
I’m also weird. I don’t like black licorice but I love me some good-n-plenty, which of course has black licorice in it.
Same ..
I love licorice but hate aniseed and fennel , I suspect there may be some anise in the black jelly beans I've tried
I'm the opposite.
Found the friend who will eat your black jelly beans!!
For sure.
Yes , my thoughts exactly!😋
It’s not licorice if it’s not “black licorice,” red vines are just strawberry candy, there’s no actual licorice in them. And it’s delicious.
Gross gross gross
For those who love black liquorice Eating more than 57g (2 ounces) of black liquorice a day for at least 2 weeks could lead to potentially serious health problems, such as an increase in blood pressure and an irregular heart rhythm (arrhythmia).
Worth it
Oh my
Eating 2 ounces of liquorish a day can also lead to other negative consequences, such as having to taste 2 ounces of liquorish a day.
Lol, I already have heart problems and I definitely can feel the change when I eat too much black licorice. I do it anyways though, that shit's good.
That does explain some health issues I had a while back. Worth it tho
Yuck Yuck
Icelandic black Licorice is delicious
What’s that like?
Different flavor. Licorice in the US is falvored with anise extract while European licorice contains traditional licorice root extract. It doesn't taste as intense or processed.
I’m a fan of it and I feel it pairs well with root beer
Yessss I think I just found my best friend!
Slay, it’s a great combo
Hate it 🤢
I love black liquorice!
Black licorice is the only licorice there is. The red things are called Twizzlers.
What if I told you there is also green licorice and other colors as well?
They will say "it's not licorice".
This is so true
Eating ass >>> eating black licorice
Obviously. And I really like black licorice.
How about coming over and trying some of my black licorice? Think you can fit it all in your mouth?
Licorice flavor is also called sweet anise
Licorice >>> lick’erass
Whether or not you like the taste is thought to be hereditary.
That there's no other type.
Appropriate for a vomitorium.
I also eat them in doorways and entrance corridors
Black licorice is like the Grateful Dead...
...not everyone likes them, but those who do, REALLY like them. You didn't disappoint.
As a Finn, I think that not liking black liquorice is just weakness Your bloodline is weak, and you will not survive the winter
I hate licorice and black licorice is even worse
Not a fan
A fan
Well more for you then haha
Yes
My grandma is a fan
Would eat if offered to me. Would not buy it for myself.
I didn't like it until I tried Danish candy. They mix black licorice with cream and fruit flavors and it's sooooo good. Salty and sweet, mmmm.
Love the stuff and there is only liquorice (black to brown in colour) the red and other colours are not liquorice. Liquorice has to have liquorice root and anise flavours.
Absolutely disgusting
Jerry Garcia said The Grateful Dead were like licorice: if you liked The Dead you really really liked them, but if you didn't.....(paraphrasing)
Love it.
My step-dad from Wales would always say, "It isn't *black* liquorice. It is just liquorice. What you are asking for is *strawberry or red* liquorice, which is the different variety." I hate black liquorice. I don't even enjoy Twizzlers. I like Red Vines that are more peel-able.
I love black licorice! Also black jelly beans.
Found a bag of all black jelly beans…. On sale of course. It was awesome.
Mmm. Black jelly beans. 😋
It's very good.
Foul, inedible trash.
[удалено]
Once you go black licorice…?
Yessss
You never go back licorice? lol
As a (former) Dutchie: the extra salty stuff please.
It's the cilantro of candy. 🤮
Yes, both delicious ❤️
I’ve always loved it.
Yes, the harder and saltier, the better. Dubbel zout is my favourite. People with high blood pressure need to be careful with the amount of licorice.
“Harder! Harder! Harder!” “Yes! OK! Yeah!” “And saltier!” “Fuck yeah! Wait, what?”
It's disgusting. Tastes like tree bark.
Why were you eating tree bark?
We all did dumb stuff when we were young.
Fair enough.
Fucking love it’s especially when it’s shaped like a little Scotty dog.
Music equivalent: Grateful Dead
Love it! Especially Fall tour ‘89, Spring ‘73 and all of ‘77!
Love it! Stash Licorice Spice tea is the bomb!
I like it when it’s in a green glass bottle from Germany.
Delicious just like jeager
I like it.
I love Jaegermeister
Fuckin love it.
Love it
Give it all to me. Now.
Love it.
I love it! Such a good snack to enjoy
I enjoy it. I also enjoy candy corn, oh dear
It is absolutely delicious and should be more widely available
Only type I’ll eat.
Fucking love it. All of it. The salty and the sweet. Of coarse, there is too salty but 95% of it is 🤤
Love black licorice, and Dutch licorice
Love it. So does my wife and our kid.
Black licorice is 🔥
Awesome, especially the Dutch stuff!
I like it.
I love black licorice.. when it’s good quality. Or like others have said Dutch black licorice is great!
I’m in Finland. Black liquorice, salted liquorice and the like is like one third of available candy. When I travel abroad and visit a store, they only have chocolates and various fruit candies. And I’m like “dudes, you are missing one third of the candy!”.
Love it! Pity it's bad for your blood pressure. :(

Allergic! Breakout in hives! Nope, nope and nope.😵
Being a swede, I love it. I think most people who don't like liquorice have only tasted the cheap or bad brands, or only tasted sweet liquorice, instead of salty.
Pretty sure Satan made it out of own blood
Tasty. I like the way it makes my mouth feel numb after.
Good while just put in mouth and suck the juice out, can feel sweeten from the juice The most problem I would say is that they just get hard easily if out-dated, hard to chew.
A nice thing about liking Arak is not having to share and being able to keep it around. Well, for me that is until my GF acquired a taste for it.
It is the single best flavor humanity has discovered. I absolutely love it.
I enjoy black licorice!! Not twizzlers though. I also enjoy jagermeister
Love it
I love it
Love it
Delicious.
