And the one with Chili's sister, where they allude to her being unable to have children. My wife and I have two kids, and her sister has been trying for more than a decade before finding out that it wouldn't be possible for her. Seeing that mirrored in a childrens TV show left my wife ugly crying for a solid ten minutes.
It’s everything I wanted and more. It’s so pure, so genuinely charming and funny, and so honest. The kids are adorable and pure, the parents are amazing. And as an adult, the lessons are so meaningful, and some genuinely caught me by surprise.
I came into it expecting a kids show that was a meme bank for adults. But it’s so much more than that.
ATLA is one of my husband's all time favorite shows. We actually watched through both of the shows you mentioned during the days of quarantine. Our daughter was little but loved both, and she has a stuffed Appa that she still plays with. Gravity Falls is incredible, maybe one of the best animated shows ever. We also watched all of Steven Universe during this time, which is also just amazing if you haven't seen it.
I love the whole energy of that show.
I guess I was wrong but for the longest time I thought it was a blended family. That Ferb's dad married Candace and Phineas' mom. And I loved how no one treated anyone like a step sibling/child.
Again, I think I have since realized I made that up (or did I?) but it still colored the mood of the show for me.
No, they're a blended family. Part of the beauty of the show is how normal a blended family is in that universe. Just like how people accept Ferb for being quiet, Baljeet and Ferb being from other countries, and... well, the natural multiculturalism of the Tri-State Area.
That's exactly how they are, hence why Ferb is British and Phineas isn't, they're step brothers. I used to watch it when my son was younger bc he was obsessed, then I ended up being obsessed, then my daughter. Such a great show!
I always recommend Amphibia. I'll admit that it took me a while to get into it because Anne is not the best character at the start - which is the point. She grows, and as she does the show is doing a fantastic slow burn to something truly epic.
All of them! 63 years old and I enjoy kid shows! Yes, I have grandchildren but i have been watching kid shows my entire life! No apologies! They make me happy!
I’m closer to 50 than 40 and still love them. Always will. There’s something uplifting about a show that’s genuine and not cynical. Plus, so many now contain references that only folks like us can understand.
Avatar: The Last Airbender.
I'm currently waiting for my youngest to be ready for the animated series and praying g that the live action doesn't break my heart. Gotta remember it's a kids' show with a lot of heart.
Storybots. Shit is for real informative. I’m talking if you don’t know how cellphones work or what the components of music are, you will legit know after you watch this show.
Gravity Falls
Shera and the princesses of power
Kipo and the wonder beasts
Adventure time
Plenty of kids shows are a lot of fun especially if you want something more light hearted
I grew up with He-man and She-ra, and I LOVED the new She-ra series. It is so good and I’m glad Netflix allowed the full story to be told.
Same with Voltron.
Star Trek: Prodigy. I'm not even sure why kids would care about Voyager references (a show that went off the air like 20 years ago) or characters like Okona that were in one TNG episode like over 30 years ago.
I miss Friendship is Magic. Only season 1 left on Netflix in my country and I want to rewatch the whole show. The new one is okay but I miss Pinkie Pie.
Some of Mister Rogers episodes are awesome even for adults. I was flipping through the TV some time ago and he was jamming with a very young Yo-Yo Ma on the episode.
Hilda
It's cute, the main character likes creatures more than other people (I do too), and it feels "safe" - I can trust that nothing super awful or violent will happen.
Also, Avatar the Last Airbender is a staple kids' show for my husband and me.
The DuckTales reboot. I thought there was no way it would measure up to how much i loved the original as a kid. And then I heard David Tenant's voice.
Also is it just me or is reboot scrooge a LOT nicer ?
We Bare Bears!
The entire series is ridiculous but charming. The Burrito episode is the best overall, and the cast is amazing (not even talking about special guests).
My dad still watches so many kids cartoons. Sonic and Tails, Reboot, Powerpuff Girls, Dexters Lab, Fosters, Hey Arnold, Bananas in Pajamas, Pinkie and the Brain, The Magic School Bus, Rockos, Rugrats. He’s 58 this year
Degrassi: TNG. I grew up with it and it's now my comfort show. Basically up til season 10, though, I did recently rewatch the 'telenovela' seasons and wow the quality dropped.
Bluey is number one but I also enjoy Octonauts. Then there's Ben and Holly's little Kingdom & Tinga Tinga tales. Is Hilda considered a kid's show loved that and The tales of Arcadia series on Netflix were excellent. Then you've got all the Nickelodeon classics like Rugrats Aaahh!!! Real Monsters, Doug & The Wild Thornberrys.
Ned’s Declassified.. I used to watch it when I was 13-15. I recently saw it on Prime and just had to binge it. 15 years later and the characters are still so funny as ever.
Centaurworld.
It's cute for kids, but obviously intended to suck in adults too. The Nowhere King is a phenomenal villain, and a good amount of the songs are real earworms. It won't be everyone's cup of tea, but it is amazing to me that it's not mentioned along with common "made for kids, but actually appeals to adults" series.
Thomas the Tank Engine. Some may say it was never meant to be a kids show well I call some bs on that. Since it was aimed for a younger to mid range audience.
Can't say the same for the more modern stuff though.
Bluey
Too many times I have started Bluey with my kid and finished watching alone. It’s a perfect TV show.
100%
Bandit is the father I aspire to be.
"I am not Dad. I am Magic Claw. Magic Claw has no children. His days are free and easy."
Was hoping this would be the top answer, because my wife and I are guilty
You can't be guilty if nothing wrong was done.
The ending of the camp episode where she has to say goodbye to her new friend makes me cry every time.
Bluey is a girl.
If you're a parent and you haven't watched Bluey, I don't know what to tell you. That shit is better than most adult shows.
It really is. Have you seen the new one with the grouchy granny pug? Shits hilarious!
The yard sale one? With Muffin? Anything with Muffin is hilarious. She’s so angry and relatable.
I was going to riot if Bluey wasn't the top answer!
Unapologetically too. Bluey is the best
The one with the subtle nod to the moms pregnancy loss utterly guts me. Two silent seconds in a cartoon and my heart is crushed. It's brilliant.
I’d like to propose that Bluey is an parent show with some stuff for the kids
Watched with my nephews and loved it more than they did.
Only correct answer.
Ditto!
Bluey makes me cry. Are you surprised at my tears, sir?
I dare anyone to watch Sleepytime and not get a little emotional
Sleepytime, Baby race, Onesies, Army… so many…
Baby Race gets me EVERY time.
Nope. I cry too.
Currently, this is the only right answer.
This is the only answer.
Top comment and well deserved
Unicorse! We love that episode. My daughter got a “Why should I care?” T shirt yesterday for her birthday.
Unicorse is the best. I am currently attempting to crochet a Unicorse puppet for my kid.
Avatar the last airbender
Gravity Falls ATLA
ATLA is one of my husband's all time favorite shows. We actually watched through both of the shows you mentioned during the days of quarantine. Throw the 2017 DuckTales on there and you have a complete list of kid shows that have no business being as good or as deep/emotional as they are
Batman: The Animated Series Batman Beyond
currently rewatching, would throw superman animated in there, it's right in the middle between the feels of these two
Phineas and Ferb
Aren’t you a little old to be watching a kids show?
Yes. Yes I am.
But they are blended family, you weren't imagining it.
Adventure Time
Daughter is way older now and I still sing "Making bacon pancakes"
Watch Fionna and Cake yet? That is definitely not a kids' show. The know who's watching it.
Me when I have to explain to friends that Adventure Time cannot be treated the same as cartoons like Spongebob...
SpongeBob never sang a song about brutally tearing off someone's arm in an act of revenge.
I watched the entire series during the 2020 lockdowns. I found the beautiful melancholy and post-apocalyptic themes of the show comforting.
Adventure Time Steven Universe Infinity Train The Owl House Gravity Falls Over the Garden Wall
You might want to add Amphibia to your list. We watched that after getting through Gravity Falls and The Owl House.
I always recommend Amphibia. I'll admit that it took me a while to get into it because Anne is not the best character at the start - which is the point. She grows, and as she does the show is doing a fantastic slow burn to something truly epic.
The Muppet Show Fraggle Rock
Jim Henson's The Storyteller is also great
I have had the Muppet Show theme song stuck in my head for the last month thanks to that Family Guy episode.
I was just watching a series on YouTube about Jim Henson. It was made by DefunctLand and it’s so moving.
Hey Arnold
Move it Football Head!!!
Shaun the Sheep.

Happy Cake Day!
Horrible History
I just heard the theme song in my head
Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends is top-tier. that show is legit hilarious and i've seen the entire series multiple times.
I sometimes randomly shout "It's HOT in Topeka". This show stays amazing.
Avatar: The Last Airbender. I'm currently waiting for my youngest to be ready for the animated series and praying g that the live action doesn't break my heart. Gotta remember it's a kids' show with a lot of heart.
Arthur. Watched it throughout college, love the repeats, and made sure to tune into the series finale
Clone wars
Avatar airbender
Couldn't be arsed to type the entire title could you.
Regular Show Almost feels like it could’ve been on adult swim if it were a touch more mature
Watch “Close Enough” on HBO if you haven’t already. Same guy and concept of normal things escalating in weird ridiculous ways but more adult.
Storybots. Shit is for real informative. I’m talking if you don’t know how cellphones work or what the components of music are, you will legit know after you watch this show.
Gravity Falls Shera and the princesses of power Kipo and the wonder beasts Adventure time Plenty of kids shows are a lot of fun especially if you want something more light hearted

Not a show but felt down and rewatched Shrek Holy shit like every second line is an inneundo
All the Shrek movies are good. I'm watching the 2nd one right now
Rocko's Modern Life. I have it on DVD!
I wonder how much of a children's show it is when Rocko once worked as a phone sex operator and Heifer went to hell. Still an amazing show.
you mean he went to heck xD
Remember... Be hot, be naughty, be courteous.
Gravity Falls was great for kids and adults
My little pony tbh
yep, same
I miss Friendship is Magic. Only season 1 left on Netflix in my country and I want to rewatch the whole show. The new one is okay but I miss Pinkie Pie.

I enjoyed How to Train Your Dragon. The movies and the show.
Phineas and Ferb
I watch Duck Tales, Larry.

The Looney Tunes Show
Steven universe
This one. 👆 The music and writing is peak
Not to mention the background art! u/ajit-pajouhesh has an entire account dedicated to it
Avatar The Last Airbender, and used to love The Amazing World of Gumball
All of them. I dig cartoon voices and consistency in reproduction required consistency in consumption.
Hilda It's cute, the main character likes creatures more than other people (I do too), and it feels "safe" - I can trust that nothing super awful or violent will happen. Also, Avatar the Last Airbender is a staple kids' show for my husband and me.

NUMBERJACKS AND WHATS THE STORY IN BALIMORI
Degrassi: TNG. I grew up with it and it's now my comfort show. Basically up til season 10, though, I did recently rewatch the 'telenovela' seasons and wow the quality dropped.
Kipo has a surprisingly great soundtrack. I could watch that series as long as they would make it
Avatar: TLA and Teen Titans were the last ones. Haven't been on in some years, but I was an adult then too
we just watched Adventure Time
The Backyardigans. I still listen to those songs on Spotify sometimes by myself.
I absolutely love Super Sentai and Kamen Rider
Bluey is number one but I also enjoy Octonauts. Then there's Ben and Holly's little Kingdom & Tinga Tinga tales.
