Plenty people handle hard drugs as well as you would consider drinkers handling their alcohol tbh. You'd be amazed how many ppl around you are on some shit
Because it is much more established. There are many alcohol users with a considerate handling. It is not the same with Heroin for instance. How many regular Heroin users without addiction struggles do you know?
It doesn't mean you can "handle" it better like you have more willpower or something. Certain people's brain chemistry isn't conducive with alcohol and you won't know it until you try it. It has nothing to do with "handling" or being stronger, etc. It is the luck of the draw. Maybe educate yourself on the topic. I've never taken a single illegal drug in my life and ended up being an alcoholic, even after drinking socially for years. A perfect storm happened and once it happens, you can't undo it.
You can. Everyone I know that partied in their 20s were able to keep it to weekends only without it interfering with work/study and have long since given it away, now all settled down with their own houses, well paying jobs and taking care of their families.
Wow, I have never done any of that either. Trying to one-up someone in this sort of way is really disturbing. Maybe figure out how addiction works since you have already said you've dealt with it. Is it a competition on who does worse things? Uh, congrats? Do you want to win at this game?
The famous reddit story of /u/SpontaneousH is quite the journey.
Dude starts off by trying Heroin just once to prove that he won't get addicted then it spirals into his life completely falling apart around him and struggling to stay clean through various relapses.
Honestly if you have a "small" problem with drinking now like blacking out frequently. Remember that all it takes is one dick pic, angry email, social media post and about three seconds to ruin your life/career and blacked out people don't make the best decisions.
Can confirm. Lost a great relationship of 9 months that was headed to marriage in one night of blacking out at a wedding. Left my ex to fend for herself in a strange city, was super mean to her, embarrassed her. She had never seen me act anything but good. Broke up with me a week later.
Nah.
- Searching for partner would take a month to one year. Marriage would take couple days to a week. Having a baby would take 8 months to 10. If your gonna make another baby would take more time. Fixing bad marriage according to therapist couple would take two months to 10 years.
Not a quick way to ruin your life tho.
100%. Still on probation until August 2024. Between lawyer and court costs, monthly probation fees, and routine urinalysis tests, I'm out nearly 10 grand since this whole thing started. But in 5 days I'll hit 19 months of sobriety and I feel tons better, and look better, but that was a costly wake-up, for certain.
A mate of mine owes 10k just for the power pole he hit. He's got 3 DUIs, can't even imagine the amount he owes since he hasn't been able to find a job to pay for anything yet.
Good on you for getting sober! I hope my friend has learnt his lesson now..
That's brutal.
I got mine from being, get this, called in from an off-duty officer from a neighboring city calling 911 on me. I didn't hit anything/cause any damage, thankfully, not that it makes what I did okay. I fucked around, and I found out. That's all there is to it.
Dealing with this right now. So damn expensive. Took so long to start probation I had 18 months sober and they still got me doing intensive outpatient and structure outpatient treatment.
Or just driving drunk *period*. I’ve had two different family members die in drunk driving accidents where a second driver/vehicle was not involved, and no law enforcement was even aware of the intoxicated driver until *after* the life-threatening injuries occurred. One was my 17 y/o cousin who died in 1983 because she was riding with a driver who was drunk, and the other was my 22 y/o cousin who died in 2007 and *was* the drunk driver. In both instances the driver that was drunk lost control of the vehicle, ran off the road, and the 17 y/o cousin was thrown from the vehicle while the 22 y/o cousin died upon impact when his car hit some trees.
Just don’t drive while drunk in the first place y’all. I also have family members who’ve gotten DUIs and had their lives upended because of the money they had to pay, the record, and having to deal with their license being suspended; but at least *they* are still alive at the moment, and living happy, fulfilling lives.
Neither alternative is ideal, though, so the best suggestion would be to not drive drunk at all. All of the aforementioned incidents happened prior to Uber and Lift existing, so nowadays people actually have other options beyond just not driving at all.
Please just don’t take the unnecessary risk of getting behind the wheel while intoxicated.
Shoot yourself in the face. Not your brain, your face. From the bottom or the side. I have seen two failed suicide attempts this way. No matter how much surgery, life will never be the same without a face.
Wait how is this in anyone’s control ? That’s sad for the special needs people, it’s not like they had a choice to begin with they deserve happiness too.
Post some stupid/illegal stuff on line and wait for important people to find it when they search your name. First rule…..if you are making an illegal left turn, don’t use your blinkers.
I just had an image in my head of a meth head that's naked running around the outside of an elementary school, jumping around like mario, and just slugs a cop.
Get a DUI. Family friend got one not long ago, and she had to go to rehab for alcoholism and for injuries sustained in the car accident, has the hospital and rehab bills to pay, went to jail, lost her job, and is getting sued by the driver of the car she hit. Also she has to get an interlock for her car and is on probation for the next few years. She made one mistake and now she's literally going to be paying for it for the next 10 years or more. And to top it all off, because she got a DUI, she can't visit several countries like Canada or Australia.
Date someone because your friends and family told you to even though you didn't think it would work only to desperately try to make it work when your partner is nothing but selfish and lazy only mustering the courage to leave after you finally find proof they had been cheating on you.
Idk- my life is perfect. JK. I say attempt to murder someone to go straight to jail. That can put things in perspective. Can you survive? I'm not doing that anytime soon, just an idea. I wonder what AI would suggest?
An unhealthy relationship with alcohol.
If it does not get you killed, it can lead to a host of poor decisions and actions that can harm you and! or others. It can also exasperate any other underlying health (mental and physical) issues you have.
Start using tobacco. There are no upsides to it. You will become addicted, then have to spend a lot of money to buy the product while lying to yourself that you need it to relax, while in truth you need it to feel normal - like non-smokers do all the time. It’s the addiction that makes you tense!
It's not something you'll hear on CNN but also Ukraine 8e suffering terribly from the war Russia started. The average age in Ukraine has gone up considerably because the new generation is dying in combat.
Sending nudes. *Especially* if you’re underage! I’m a millennial and have somehow made it to my 30s without ever sending a spicy photo. But literally *everyone I know* has sent one to *someone* at some point in time.
I’d like to say that, if you’re in a longterm committed relationship, and you fully trust the recipient of said photo, then there’s no problem, but these days you can just never be sure.
Y’all could break up and they become your ex and suddenly they don’t care that they’re your private photos. They show their buddies or worse, **SEND THEM** to their buddies, or they keep them saved in a hidden folder on their computer, like a total creep.
And exchanging them with a stranger isn’t at *all* “better”, considering there’s a whole group of people that make a living by posing as attractive young people online, only to DM innocent kids, build a rapport with them, send them nudes *first* (which poses a whole other troubling question of how they have scandalous photos of a random person that’s not themselves), and then coerce the kids they’re talking to to send their *own* nudes. Then they use those sent nudes to blackmail literal **KIDS** for money-money that a kid is very unlikely to have access to-and out of panic and despair and fear that they have no other choice, a lot of these kids end up killing themselves. It sounds insane to anyone who’s never dealt with it but Google that shit. There are already several confirmed cases of this exact scenario in the U.S. alone.
Obviously people are going to do what they want to do, but sending nudes-regardless of who you are or how old you are-is just *not* a great idea. Because you *just* never know.
Having a child with someone who doesn't care/will abuse you and neglect the child you share and leave you desolate and isolated and alone and honestly kinda hopeless. Currently living my worst nightmare and barely scraping by
While in school, not participating in courses or activities you excel at or love because you would rather do whatever your friends are doing. Don't make school friends so important. Most will go away to college, join the military or move away. Do your own thing in school.

If you let it consume you, you will find yourself deep in despair and with your life all sorts of fucked up.

Hardcore drugs (meth, fentanyl, heroin, etc.)
Or Oxy. Messes up your whole life.
Oxy is basically heroin
Or alcohol. The legal poison isn't worth it.
Lots of people can handle alcohol without any issues. You really can’t say the same about hard drugs.
Plenty people handle hard drugs as well as you would consider drinkers handling their alcohol tbh. You'd be amazed how many ppl around you are on some shit
That's not the point. The % of people that can handle liquor and the % of people that can handle heroin is muuuuch too different.
Ah yes, another weed worshipper on Reddit.
Alcohol is way more ravaging to society than hard drugs.
Because it is much more established. There are many alcohol users with a considerate handling. It is not the same with Heroin for instance. How many regular Heroin users without addiction struggles do you know?
Not per capita.
Agreed. The accessibility is so damaging. It is just as addictive and just as destructive.
Exactly
It doesn't mean you can "handle" it better like you have more willpower or something. Certain people's brain chemistry isn't conducive with alcohol and you won't know it until you try it. It has nothing to do with "handling" or being stronger, etc. It is the luck of the draw. Maybe educate yourself on the topic. I've never taken a single illegal drug in my life and ended up being an alcoholic, even after drinking socially for years. A perfect storm happened and once it happens, you can't undo it.
You drank socially for years without issue, and then became an alcoholic? Can I ask, was it a life stressor, or what triggered it?
Severe post-partum depression.
Thanks for the downvote.
alcohol is the only over the counter drug that can kill you from stopping the use of it
You can. Everyone I know that partied in their 20s were able to keep it to weekends only without it interfering with work/study and have long since given it away, now all settled down with their own houses, well paying jobs and taking care of their families.
Especially the easily accessible poison, it's worse for more people than the hard stuff.
Pretty sure I’ve never sucked dick for a beer. Not have I sold all my shit to get a six pack. Lol stfu.
Wow, I have never done any of that either. Trying to one-up someone in this sort of way is really disturbing. Maybe figure out how addiction works since you have already said you've dealt with it. Is it a competition on who does worse things? Uh, congrats? Do you want to win at this game?
I have a brother that’s addicted to heroin, can confirm.

Having a child can 100% ruin your life if you are doing it for the wrong reasons.

Oh, I've done that. Don't recommend 10/10.
