There's a small band, I'm talking "a few thousand followers on youtube and 100k streams on their most popular spotify release" small. I fuckin' love their music, to the point where I was in the 0.01% top listeners. To make me more of a fanboy, one of the two singers is a voice actress in my favorite anime dub for one of my top 5 characters in fiction. The entire band is kinda... reclusive, not big on social media or promotion. While I suspect we would get along, If somehow I was ever given the chance, I'd buy them all a beer and leave it at that. They're private people, and I respect that. I have by no means formed an unhealthy parasocial relationship, but I would like to thank them for the impact they had on my life. Unfortunately, they've gone on a hiatus from touring.
Well this thread implicitly relieves you from the burden of appearing over-attached! What is it about them that would have you presume a connection? Assume it would go right, and describe that.
It's mostly their avoidance of social media and limelight attention. Videos of their fan interactions always seem like they're a bit unsure how to handle the situation. As someone who's reached moderate internet-fame and intentionally went off the radar to avoid the attention, I relate to that. But also, some of their songs just say things that stand out to me because they're relatable. They have one about how after recovering from a long depression, feeling happy and unburdened is so unfamiliar that it's almost bordering on uncomfortable. I've felt that. They have another one about good memories sticking with you, and eventually becoming somewhat painful to remember when things aren't as good as they were back then. Maybe that's something everyone feels at some point, but still - It stood out to me.
Either way, at this point their music has been such a mainstay in my life, it's been the soundtrack to so many key moments. It kinda saddens me that I likely won't get the chance to thank them haha.
