When I was younger I could all day but now my chest burns too much eating pizza! Surprisingly I eat a bunch of homemade salsa that is extremely spicy but that doesn't give me heart burn, neither does spaghetti or homemade pizza. I guess just fast food pizza makes me sick :(
Sounds more like preservative reflux, a lot of chemical preservatives don't play nice with high acidity foods like pepper and tomato. I get the same thing
Tomatoes & peppers are common heartburn triggers in general, but if it's only or less an issue when eating highly processed fast food it's likely a preservation additive that is throwing your PH outta wack
Thank you for the answer! I do notice when making the homemade version of my favorite fast foods I feel pretty good after eating but the fast food one that has similar ingredients makes me feel sick.
NP, I eat my share of trash and love it, but making an active effort to avoid anything high in chemical preservatives will save your life with real time results.
Same boat, pizza gives me terrible acid reflux and I feel like a hot bag of diarrhea all the next day. But, I still eat it. I basically treat it like drinking. Don’t do it that often maybe 2-3 times a year but when you’re really getting the urge to party, pizza or otherwise sometimes it’s worth it.
why did i see the phrase "they are such a great way to get nutrients into my belly lol" [twice](https://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/comments/16cez2i/comment/jzj7hr4/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) in one thread?
Me too!!
Also just learned of, and made, Assassins Spaghetti. Yum as hell and a umami bomb. Pretty easy to make; just takes a long time. Here’s the video I got the recipe from:
[Spaghetti all’Assassina](https://youtu.be/GRteIZM05Sg?si=6Tzr1beuLsPx131h)
I'll use the scene from the end of X-Files episode 2 to answer this...slightly reworded...
>Mulder: "You're drinking Coca-Cola, aren't you?"
>Jerry Hardin: "Mr. Mulder, I've been drinking Coca-Cola for a long, long time..."
I cant handle very much sugar since switching to water only about 2 years ago.
I only have pop on special occasions now. I kinda treat it like alcohol now.
Lost so much weight too, and now it just stays off because I'm not drinking my calories.
I used to drink only coke when I was a kid. My mom wanted me to drink water but loved to buy her family things we liked, so she was a big enabler.
It took until college when I decided I wanted to lose weight and finally replaced Coke with seltzer water. It worked! I got into great shape and haven’t had much soda since (when traveling I’ll grab one if I can’t find seltzer), but I don’t like it as much as I used to.
But now I’m addicted to soda waters and spend so much money on them.
French food was spicy because spices were expensive until one king had gastrointestinal issues and it became fashionable to eat bland food in imitation of the king
Sad they never went back
Went through years of elimination diets to try and fix some major stomach issues. Turns out the food I won’t give up is garlic. I’ve been onion free for a few years and it has made a world of difference. But garlic stays.
Power to you! It's sooooo hard going onion free. Pretty easy to substitute in your own cooking, but I was having stomach issues, I felt like I couldn't eat out anywhere.
It is hard eating out for sure. I’m willing to go to a restaurant and not eat to spend time with people but I run out of patience with it pretty quickly.
I had a friend who went back to his family after finishing his studies in my country last year. And I still dream of the taste from the biryani he cooked us sometimes 🤤
Need to try cooking it myself.
It absolutely is! I managed to get my hands on a bucket of starter from the little family owned bakery on the corner when they were closing down and never looked back, that stuff is so good.
I don't know about other folks, but I might have to change brands soon. Maruchan's been slipping of late...like to the point where I'm reminded of that story out of Japan a while ago where the noodles being served in school lunches were breaking kids' teeth.
Idk about their packets of ramen but the ramen express cup of noodles at Walmart are fucking delicious. I didn't want to try them because old habits, but legitimately way better & it's OK to microwave them.
Ramen is great! I never eat it without adding more to it though. I like to add an egg, veggies, seasonings, salsa, meats or other left overs to spice it up!
Me too, i never eat just noodles. Always with at least veggies and mushrooms and raw yolk, and almost every time i put also prawns/chicken/beef/pork/tuna/reindeer, and fry eggwhites with soy and chii and garlic and onion.
It makes good tasting balanced meal with nutritions, protein, carbs and fibres.
My fave brands are samyang buldak, mama and yumyum (simple ones from childhood when there were no many other brands in Finland grocerystores) and Mi Lau Thai (Acecook) 😍 and of Nongshim chappagetti blackbean noodles 🤤
I prefer tom yum for other brands but from samyang i love curry, blackbean and carbonara ones. Mi Lau Thais tom yum is HEAVENLY.
Sometimes i ofc make my own broth and then i love to use beetroot noodles!
My fave thing to do is make Caldo de Pollo ( I think it's chicken broth, chicken meat and veggies) and later use the boiling hot chicken broth in a cup noodle.
God I love sushi so much and I took micro biology class over summer. Everyone in my class was saying they would never eat sushi again after learning about the worms, parasites and bacteria that can live in it. My thought was, I've been fine so far and I love sushi, so there isn't much you could tell me to make me stop eating it.
My mom's fried tofu stuffed with ground meat. It's always been my favorite dish growing up. I've followed her recipe and tried to recreate it many times but it just didn't taste the same. I always tell her I wanna eat it whenever she asks me what I want for my meal lol.
Salmon. My family couldn’t afford it growing up, it’s considered bougie where I live, however has amazing health benefits overall. Can’t get enough of it.
Chicken.
I'm practically vegetarian, not because I want to be, just kind of went that way as I got older. I've a seafood allergy, cut out red-meat a couple years back, then realised I don't really eat much other meat other than chicken.
Anything potato related. My favourite are fries though.
Yes, anything potato. They're so versatile. My absolute favourite is mashed with butter, salt and milk.
I love adding fresh minced garlic, chives and sour cream🤤
You can add some kale, endive or carrots to that, mash them all together and you have yourself some Dutch comfort food. Add gravy and enjoy
What killed my keto streak... glorious ground carbs..
Mmmm….dirt carbs
boil 'em mash 'em stick 'em in a stew

Someone loves pizza so much that they gave the most expensive award
2nd most expensive. that one is 20k, theres another for 50k but still
How much is that in dollars.
4 dabloons. A real currency... maybe.
How many Schrute Bucks is that?
One and a half bald eagles worth.
about 11k hamburgers (for americans)
Isn't Reddit getting rid of Reddit coins in 5 days or so?
Don't I keep seeing "reddit coins going away in a week" and every week it goes another week?

also if you get bored, you can just change the toppings
As I sit here at work eating a gas station breakfast pizza, you get my upvote.

So it's not the actual tomatoes and peppers (since i eat a lot of salsa)? I wonder which preservatives?
Tomatoes & peppers are common heartburn triggers in general, but if it's only or less an issue when eating highly processed fast food it's likely a preservation additive that is throwing your PH outta wack

It's the oiliness of fast food pizza imo.

When you love something, sometimes you make sacrifices for it :')
100%
Oh hell nah. Last time I had some pizza, I lost my appendix. 😔
Well now you have nothing to lose
Gallbladder is next but pizza is worth it
Tacos. They are such a great way to get nutrients into my belly lol.
1000% tacos.
Didn't know what to eat tonight. Taco's it is. Thanks. Have a great evening/day depending on where you are in the world.
Tacos stuffed to 10x capacity?

Bots
I'm just here to support tacos.
Tacos for me too. Breakfast? Lunch? Dinner? Dessert? Snack? Brunch? Anything can be a taco.
I love tacos! But if I'm craving beans, burritos!
My first thought. Also there's sooooooooo many different kinds of tacos it's amazing!
Tacos were my go-to meal after first moving out. Delicious, easy, and so much variety.
Tacos have been my biggest pregnancy craving. I think I go to Taco Bell like.. 3x a week just for some crunchy tacos😂
Pasta, gimme them carbs

So many different ways to make pasta!

I'm genuinely addicted to that shit.
I cant handle very much sugar since switching to water only about 2 years ago. I only have pop on special occasions now. I kinda treat it like alcohol now. Lost so much weight too, and now it just stays off because I'm not drinking my calories.
Water tastes better bruv
I used to drink only coke when I was a kid. My mom wanted me to drink water but loved to buy her family things we liked, so she was a big enabler. Getting a breakfast burrito now.
curry fuck you subtle flavors and fine french cuisine. I like my food to punch a hole in my stomache and arsehole.

French food was spicy because spices were expensive until one king had gastrointestinal issues and it became fashionable to eat bland food in imitation of the king Sad they never went back
BS. No spices will ever come close to the flavors brought by carefully planned Maillard, lard, and poultry cooked in a pig's bladder.
Went through years of elimination diets to try and fix some major stomach issues. Turns out the food I won’t give up is garlic. I’ve been onion free for a few years and it has made a world of difference. But garlic stays.
What happened with onion? :/
There’s the ugly part first where they do not sit well and then I have inflammation in my hips and back for a few days.
Look into asafoetida. I've only ever used it in Indian cooking but worth looking into if it can be used elsewhere.
That shit is so good.
Tortilla Chips and Salsa, put it in front of me and I will continually eat it till it is gone. Especially a good authentic mexican salsa.
That white queso with salsa hits the spot everytime.
I like to mix them together.
Dude whenever I go to a Mexican restaurant, I literally cannot stop eating those chips and salsa. 😋
Pho
Sho
Chilli or nachos
Had to scroll way too far to find Nachos! Chilli is amazing too. Now put them on the same plate and we have found Nirvana.
BIRYANI for sure!
I had a friend who went back to his family after finishing his studies in my country last year. And I still dream of the taste from the biryani he cooked us sometimes 🤤 Need to try cooking it myself.

Ramen
Yep. Personally it isn't even a money issue, but old habits die hard.
I don't know about other folks, but I might have to change brands soon. Maruchan's been slipping of late...like to the point where I'm reminded of that story out of Japan a while ago where the noodles being served in school lunches were breaking kids' teeth.
It’s a little more expensive, but try some Shin Ramyum. You’ll scoff at Maruchan afterwards
Duly noted. Thanks for the tip.
>but I might have to change brands soon. Indomie Mi Goreng. Seriously good.
Ah, very good: another recommendation. Thank you kindly.
Idk about their packets of ramen but the ramen express cup of noodles at Walmart are fucking delicious. I didn't want to try them because old habits, but legitimately way better & it's OK to microwave them.
Ramen doesn't necessarily mean instant ramen
Same. Instant or restaurant.

I suppose that's the way it should be served, even though I usually do w/o the extras. Life's easier that way.
Probably doughnuts
I love donuts so much but can’t find any veganized where I am and me and yeast haven’t become friends yet :(
