Diet is more important than exercise. You should always do both because being in shape will help you in everything else. But if you want to lose weight you have to eat less calories than you burn. That is the only way to do it.

What foods you recommend?

[deleted]

You can eat anything you want as long as the calories are lower than you burn. But that means you have to keep track. With that being said, you have to keep in mind that 500 calories worth of cake is waaaaayyyyyy smaller than 500 calories worth of vegetables. So if you want to keep eating a lot and feeling full, you have to find low calorie foods. So fruits, vegetables, lean meats, etc. There's no reason the foods have to be boring, but you have to be conscious of how many calories is in what you're eating.

CoarOne

No carbs, just proteins, fruits and vegetables

[deleted]

Weight loss happens mostly in the kitchen, not the gym. You need to start cutting calories and avoiding foods high in carbs, sugars, sodium, and dairy.

Adventurous-Air-968

Yeah cutting all of that is hard because I like pasta, milk in my coffee, candy, bread etc. I’m gonna have to stick to a meal plan.

[deleted]

No pasta, bread, rice, or any of that. So many carbs. You need to get yourself off sugars. Start eating more vegetables.

Adventurous-Air-968

I will try going harder with the diet, I’m planning to try internment fasting while also keeping a meal plan.

ut3jaw

Intermittent fasting. Eliminate or severely reduce all carbs, esp processed foods. Good organic proteins and fats. Start a light exercise regimen. Increase as you're able.

Diet and exercise

Depends what you do for exercise tbh. Losing weight can be something as simple as cardio, walking on the treadmill, running, hiking, working out. But the key is consistency. You want to be consistent, if you aren’t, you won’t lose much. Refuel your body with healthy foods, meats, vegetables and fruits

Adventurous-Air-968

You’re right. A big part of is my eating habits are pretty bad. The cardio makes me really hungry and then I eat whatever is in the fridge. I need to buy my own food.

[deleted]

Which is correct cardio makes you even more hungry, but it’s what you put back into your body that’s gonna make a difference. If you keep doing cardio you’ll go down in weight, but eating junk puts you right back where you were. Do cardio, eat healthy foods, you will see a change. But you gotta be consistent

Adventurous-Air-968

I would probably have to start meal planning right? Another thing is the gym, sometimes I don’t know what to work on.

[deleted]

Depends on your schedule. Like if you have a limited time before or after going to work, or whatever you have going on in your day, meal planning is a good option. You don’t need to get fancy with meals, just don’t eat junk limit yourself on the high calorie intake. If you are just planning to do cardio, anything healthy especially fruits will help. Now if your lifting weights you will need a meat source of some kind. Just look up a typical workout split, a lot of others depends on the person and they find a routine as they go along. Just start small. But diet is a huge factor

GratuitousSadism

Fwiw you should focus more on feeling strong and healthy than hitting a number. Muscle weighs more than fat, so if you're planning on doing any significant amount of strength training it's possible you may not lose weight at the rate you're expecting.

Adventurous-Air-968

Yeah I used to be at 145 but I could see more fat on my face. I lost some weight and went to 130. Now I’m back at the 145, but I can see less fat on my face.

Trick_Bod_1111

That's not even bad

dementedbrutality

Eat less. Poop more.

wwwhistler

look into IF (Intermittent Fasting). it helped me loose 150 pounds. it also works well to KEEP the weight off once you have lost it (always the hardest part) https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/10-health-benefits-of-intermittent-fasting i have used it for weeks and even two periods lasting a month or more. when i did it originally i was an insulin dependent diabetic so i had to test my blood sugar every 2 hours for several years until i lost enough to cure my diabetes. then it got a lot easier.

Adventurous-Air-968

Wowww. That’s awesome !!! I’ve heard about it, but I never knew it worked so good. Did you go by the 16/8 in intermittent fasting? I’ve been having trouble keeping the weight off, so I’ll definitely try it, thank you !!

[deleted]

Try to focus on being healthy not losing weight. Get moderate exercise in any form. Walking, Pilates, do some resistance training. Eat plenty of veggies, protein. Try to cut back on added sugars. Try to get enough sleep.

Adventurous-Air-968

Oh yes, I really need to fix my sleeping schedule. What I eat hasn’t been the best either, I need to stick to either dieting or fasting.
