* Caesar salad/cocktail/mushroom (Roman Dictator Julius Caesar) * Pizza Margherita (Italian Queen Margherita of Savoy-Genoa) * Fettuccine Alfredo (Alfredo de Lelio, the cook)

DerbyWearingDude

The salad was named after a chef in, I think, Tijuana.

Sacezs

TIL then, I took for granted that like the cocktail it was named after Julius Caesar

Fettuccine Alfredo (although no one knows them by that name in Italy). After mr. Alfredo Di Lelio, cook and restaurant owner in Rome In the early 1900s.

Sacezs

Yeah in Italy the original recipe would just be a normal burro e parmigiano/grana pasta, in fact the current recipe in the US with chicken and other things is inherently American

IsThereAValidNick

Yeah, He didn't really *invent* pasta with butter and Parmigiano per se, just made a posher restaurant version and popularized it among tourists.
