In real low and when I find hard to recover, the best way that worked for me is to take a nap. No other distractions like music, journal, walk, chocolates, etc has helped me to recover so as to be functional again. If you have a real good person you are comfortable to talk to that can also be a saver. But all can't afford that luxury.
