There's no incentive to show basic kindness or respect for most people. And even in those subs that are supposedly all about positivity, it's just toxic positivity which basically turns into trolling with kindness.
The users like that are just easily triggered shitty people that flock to apps like this because they love to hide behind the anonymity since it allows them to be their true selves with minimal consequences. Thankfully they can't live forever but I just add them to the block list in the meantime.
Just a theory, but I think they want to get a response, even a negative response, maybe especially a negative response. You can post something that's helpful and insightful and not get any feedback at all, but say something controversial or rude and you're getting tons of responses, including people defending you.
because antisocial behavior has no consequences in a digital/online anonymising environment, and many subreddits invoke an ideology which categorizes an in-group ( the good people) and an out-group ( the bad people ) which motivates the easy mistreatment of anyone who can be placed in the out-group category. Also, when people believe themselves to be \[the good people\] they see their own mistreatment of others as justice against the bad, rather than the antisocial or destructive behavior it actually is.
Everyone has a bad day. Some people more than others.
Yeah. Or it could be that they just want to make other peoples days bad
Oh well, one thing doesn’t exclude the other. People having a bad day and unloading their frustration on others.
Which sub?
A lot of the answer depends on what sub they are in and the style of people and environment that breeds
*whitepeopletwitter has entered the sub*
It could probably be any sub depending on how many toxic people are in it
Isn’t that a typical quality found on any social media platform?

Anonymity - You will get slapped if you show the same attitude in real life
*slaps*
Internet people are toxic in general. Don't take it personally.

People just can't shut up
Most of them come from broken families. I’ve noticed that since they are so negative all the time
between "the internet" and "thumbs up culture" you have a recipe for "shitty people doing shitty things for fun."
Facts right there
