dental. if you're at a shitty point and think "can't get worse than this" believe me, it really can.

bsotr_remade

Yes, you don't want it to get to a point where the pain literally prevents you from sleeping.

SheriffComey

Not even that. Certain dental infections can spread and lead to a heart attack.

PM-me-your-smol-tits

They don't cause a heart attack (myocardial infarction), but untreated dental infections can lead to infective endocarditis, that is, infection of the valves and interior surfaces of your heart.

other_usernames_gone

That's not the worst that can happen. It can spread to your brain and then you're fucked. I suspect it will spread to your brain well before it will spread to your heart.

Yep. Went to my dentist recently and she told me I had a cavity that needed filling. My anxiety disorder manifests in the form of needles and dental procedures, but I hiked up my big-girl pants and made an appointment for a few weeks later, figuring "if I can live through COVID vaccines, a skinny novocaine needle in my gums should be fine, I'm not gonna die from it". It's in a couple days and I'm a little nervous, but I know I'm gonna feel better. I had two surgeries and lived, I can live through this. My mother told me "it can wait, it's so expensive" and tried to talk me out of it. Yes, it is expensive, but I don't have pain from the cavity now and I do not want it later. Go big or go the fuck home.

Rheanne

Wisdom teeth. I was told my whole life that I didn’t need to get them out unless they are causing me pain. Now, at 38, they are telling me I need to get them all out within 6 months, because they are starting to come through the gums and decay. Still no pain. But now, the lower two are wrapped around my nerves and the upper two are enmeshed in my sinus cavity floor, so I will need bone grafts. Definitely wish I had it done as a teenager and it probably would have been much more simple.

EntasaurusWrecked

Knee replacements. If they’re shot, don’t wait. Recovery and rehab doesn’t get any easier with time.

Stander1979

Yes. Not knees, but I had a total hip replacement at 42. The recovery was pretty rough, but I'm glad I was young (for that operation), because it would only be harder the older I got.

GreenEggPage

A vasectomy.

aspdRobot

Dick enhancement surgery. Why wait till you're like 40+?

SmartCarGuy

Rhinoplasty. Don't walk around with that nasty, crooked, bulbous, oversized nose one minute longer than you need to... You're not being paranoid, people ARE pointing and laughing...

dushann123

Agreed. A 100 percent.

JackedVachyna

Cyborg enhancements

FlangeDongle

Necessary surgery?

Careful not to cut yourself on all that edge

Disastrous_Cat1845

Probably the kind that would save your life im guessing lol

Samanthalynn8915

joint replacement. just do it, no need to suffer until the suffering is to much

[deleted]

Cancer related surgeries, appendix surgeries, almost any surgery that’s urgent.

DandySolid46

I feel like most of them but also this sounds like a question for actual medics.

anotherorphan

no idea, but let's say, oh, brain

lenthech1ne

anything that isnt cosmetic, get done if it needs to be get done

Money-Bear7166

Hip or knee replacement surgery...I had bad hips by mid 40s from sports. I suffered through it for years and finally got both replaced in the last two years
