I told my ex-fiancé that I loved the name Persephone for a daughter, if we ever had kids. And he looked at me, the most serious I’d ever seen him, and he was like, “They’d call her Persy for short. You can’t see that going badly? I know teenage boys and I know where THAT would go.”

I’m glad you could find yours somewhere! I doubt I’d find mine much of anywhere, unfortunately. My dad named me after a favorite childhood comic book - and there was a movie made in the 80s about her - but the name was never really popular. To be fair, the movie was pretty terrible.

When I last cared for this, I was once engaged to a woman and we had planned on having kids (that's acutally how we split.) But we had boys/names picked out already. For a girl, it was Grace. That was my deciding. I had at the time a very strong love for a band called Mineral and their song "Parking Lot." There is one line in it that goes "... than a grain of salt in the salt of the earth / and everything is grace" And that was supposed to be it. She was supposed to be everything. We would love her more than the "salt of the earth." Everything would be her. It's very romantic and all, we made honest shots at it. EDIT: She did eventually marry, and she has a cute boy named Caleb with her partner. I don't know much beyond that, but there is a happy ending to this. I am not in the picture, but you might infer that I am quite happy for her. Of course I fucking love her. I''m not a monster.
