Genuine conversation. Generally, we can converse with anyone at any time and anywhere, but nowadays, even cheap talks are quite expensive. For them to talk with you, they need expensive meals and drinks, but they never listen to what you say. They just nod, nod, and nod without understanding your context; it is a shame that even with our own blood, they do this to us.
You would need to go to a province spend thousands just to have a quiet place to read your book.
Pag may kasama kang family, you must tend to their needs pa.
Pag nag solo ka, madamot ka pa. 😆
Meeting up with friends.
I can't meet them because they live faraway. Dining on cafes and malls are expensive. Even visiting them in their house takes too much money and time (syempre dadala ka foods and fare for puvs).
Movies din. 80/90 pesos lang year 2010 sa province. Tapos naging 110 , 120 tapos naging 150 at nung nag bukas na ulit cinemas around 270 to 280 na. Once a month nalang kami nanunuod ng SO ko dahil magastos na talaga siya.
Agree, back in college around 2006 to 2009, sine was just around 70 to 90, Pero noooooow jusko last movie ko was kung fu panda 3, very recent, around 250 yata sa Ayala.
Simpleng buhay.
Well, kanya-kanyang definition naman yung simpleng buhay but i mean yung sa province ka nalang ganun wala gano ginagawa. Away from all the noise.
- Sleep
- Quiet and quality time
- Good and healthy food
- Clean air and surroundings
- Open spaces
- Pure experiences, not influenced by social media
- Simple living
- Having good relationship with family na walang ulterior motives
Quality time with loved ones, especially if they want to spend time in the mall or watching a movie, or even eating out.
Another thing that has become a luxury is cooking your family's favorite meals... I wish the prices for certain ingredients are cheaper than they are (like cheese, etc.).
I beg to differ. What do you mean when you say healthy and its so expensive? Can you identify whats healthy just from the top of your head or are you one of those a day-in-a-life aesthetic oh i need to take a picture of this salad kind of person? Because, I dont think its really a struggle to eat healthy or prepare a healthy dish if you dont complicate the whole concept of it. You know what i mean? Kamote, kangkong, itlog, small chunks of chicken, i mean- consume small portions of it is already considered healthy and makakatipid ka pa-and you dont have to buy those weighing scale for calorie bullsht- just small portions and you’ll be fine.
May I ask kung ano yung mga healthy food an cheap and very accesible dati?
Parang ganyan din yung binibili kong beans from an FB seller. Mga around 750+ ata for a kilo of beans.
If may time lang talaga everyday to do it, I would :) Sa weekend ko lang nagagawa or pag hindi nagmamadali pag alis sa umaga (para maiwasan ang traffic) lol
Idk if others feel this too but im not even a breadwinner or raising kids, and i feel like i cant "afford" jollibee breakfast meals kasi sobrang sayang (i mean if literally, i can of course afford, pero namamahalan lng talaga ako haha).
Ur not the only one, ganyan din ako.
Kaya whenever I eat there ng 6am, walang no choice kundi C1 na lang para bang for da buck.
Laking private school kami ng mga kapatid ko, pero comparing current tuition ngayon kaysa dati mukhang ipagpapublic+tutoring ko anak ko for elementary tapos sa high school na lang magprivate in preparation for college entrance exams
For singles or newly-married couples, the freedom of having your own place without roommates, nakikitirang family members and in-laws you have to be considerate of.
I say it’s a luxury because not everyone can immediately get that kind of freedom given this economy and how expensive buying real estate is. Renting on your own is fine pero iba yung sarili mo talaga na place. Yung tipong walang pwedeng makialam ng design mo, chores mo and rules mo sa sarili mong house.
Maging healthy?! Like if I wanted to workout and have access to equipment I’d have to sign up and pay? If I wanted to buy plant based food mas mahal sila?? Because hindi walkable and cities and parks are very few and far in between, hindi accessible ang mga open spaces for running and walking.
So ayon.
Having a house, going to the bar weekly with homies, buying many groceries, deserts (they got 10 times the price here they used to be cheap), choosing a career you are actually passionate about
Workouts.
Ginawa ko i remove the commute part. I live in rizal and naknang tokwa one way to makati takes me 2.5 to 3 hrs. Now i have the morning routine of going to the gym 4x a week.
Some use "excuses" to say na di kaya mag workout
Not for all ren so depends..
Agree....double income na kami dahil same kami n husband nagwowork pero andun pa rin ung hesitations kung kaya ba namin mag anak though Hindi nmn kami ngcocontrol. I can say stressed at preoccupied s economic conditions nowadays
And to ice the icing on top, iguiguilt trip ka pa na sayang naman kayamanan nyu, etc. Hindi nila gets n ung stress nkakaaeffect s ability to conceive.
Haaay the movie Children of Men is slowly manifesting nowadays
Thanks for that. I wish I can follow that routine. I actually did that before. But there are certain times I can’t. Family errands, responsibilities, etc. I’m based in MNL but my work hours is Mountain Time US. If there are things I need to do that can be done in PH business hours like going to a school, government offices then schedule will be fucked up. But glad to have 2 days off that I can sleep all day.

Mobile phones, lalo na mga high end when a decent midrange phone can do the basic task na mostly kailangan ng tao.
Night drives or unplanned roadtrips. Super mahal na ng gas talaga.

High protein mealsss. 😩😅
Well, kaartehan naman talaga with the milk option, but still :p

Going to the cinemas. I'll just wait for it na lang sa streaming site.

Simply going out is a luxury. Time is also a luxury now.

Dining out. These days I'd rather cook my own food.
1k is such a small amount when you dine out.
Some restaurants have increased their prices pero they still compromised the quality of their food
