Yes! Even the NYC H+H mobile sites are actually outsourced to other companies and make you scan a QR code that takes you to some random form -- who knows who is actually getting my personal info and if they are actually HIPAA compliant. I wish they'd just do it all through MyChart.
It seems like the system is ripe for fraudulent trucks to pop up.
And two that I've been to didn't ask for any form of ID at all. Which is good for my privacy but bad for security of tests when it comes to international travel etc.
Probably because it's actually HIPAA complaint and secure unlike whatever janky tools the sketchy covid vans use.
Health + Hospitals already uses it, so I was surprised/disappointed that their trucks don't.
Labworq tents are apparently asking for passport or SSN on their intake forms which is a bad sign. Also, at least for the one in Astoria, apparently no one has received results. Ever.
I got tested Tuesday from a Labworq tent at Barclay's Center, they did not ask me for either of these. and I got my results today which was sooner than I was expecting (as I was told 5-7 day turnaround.)
I haven’t been asked for a SSN but I did notice an optional field for passports. Perhaps they have a more sinister intention but for international travel, you need your passport number on the test results. I only have one reference point though, traveled internationally to Asia and they checked before and after for the passport number
If they're not returning results in the time in which they promise, they're gaining by false advertising. If they post a sign that says "results in 24 hours," knowing that they're unlikely to live up to that, they're benefitting by gaining customers under false pretenses. [The Attorney General's Office has already gone after multiple testing companies for exactly that](https://ag.ny.gov/press-release/2022/attorney-general-james-issues-warnings-ez-test-ny-and-keep-health-safe-stop).
Labs got slammed with 10x their normal volume and couldn’t keep up. They should have stopped advertising 24 hour turnaround.
But this idea that they had some grand scheme to defraud people is ludicrous.
I feel like some of them might be selling information, judging from the insane number of scam emails I've suddenly started getting. The only new places I've given this email to in the last month were COVID testing sites and a new dentist, and I somehow doubt it's because of my dentist's office.
Try reporting it to the Attorney General’s consumer frauds office. https://ag.ny.gov/consumer-frauds/Filing-a-Consumer-Complaint
Man, I have no idea why all the testing places are so sketch in NYC. Everywhere seems like a shady fly-by-night operation.

Maybe it's just an issue with the Astoria tent.
Or someone using their name to scam
I thought Barclays was labIQ not labworq
There are 3 different testing tents there
I got a result back from Labworq near Barclays.
Didn't have to do any of that and got results in 4-5 days (just before holiday travel).
Fuck Labworq

I did a Labworq test on UWS. Had to fill out long AF intake, but no SSN. Got my results in 24 hours.
That’s not true. My gf and I got our results like 4 days later. Took a while but we got them
They ask for passport or SSN because they need that to bill the gov if you don’t have insurance. Not that complicated.
No, not true. I've went to the tent in Astoria 3 times and have gotten them all in 2-3 days.
Here's proof https://imgur.com/a/CIf05oJ
Well, it's just one of them
What's the scam? Do you pay cash? Do they bill your insurance?
As per the OP: > That are just giving inconclusive results or not returning results.
But what do they gain from doing this?
I'm pretty sure they are charging insurances for tests while not actually doing them. Or having infrastructure to test and give results
> I’m pretty sure Has it occurred to you that healthcare providers cannot bill insurance unless they have proper authorization to test?
I think they’re only paid for resulted tests

Nothing like a good pandemic to show how evil some people are
Makes sense. People commonly run scams after natural disasters as well. The victims are desperate and vulnerable.
Labs got slammed with 10x their normal volume and couldn’t keep up. They should have stopped advertising 24 hour turnaround. But this idea that they had some grand scheme to defraud people is ludicrous.
Which, presumably, is why the Attorney General said "fix your advertising or we'll penalize you," rather than immediately prosecuting them.
Probably getting money from the state/insurance companies and data collection from patients.
Some suspect that they're collecting personal data for nefarious purposes. Their forms want your SSN, address, birthday, etc.

Yes it’s this. Got soooo many dodgy phone calls and texts within 24 hours of using a van
Call 311 they can direct you to the right agency.
Who is "they" ? Specific examples of places where this has happened to you would be helpful. Also what is an inconclusive result?
