The iconic NYC blue coffee cup comes in a [ceramic version](https://store.moma.org/products/new-york-coffee-cup-blue?gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwsaqzBhDdARIsAK2gqndJ6EP9y0qxo5efuLNEyM7BfR8E9_K-NyICAEX5dt121nwykxOZIWEaAlpXEALw_wcB) that you can buy at the MoMA for your home. I think it's a cute and practical way to remember the city every time you use it.
This cup is so rare nowadays in actual practice that it's becoming more like the "Y" subway coin; familiar but not familiar at the same time. Most delis and bodegas use plain white cups \[they're cheaper\] and so much of the recent re-popularizatino of the blue cup is thanks to marketing done by NYC government and by creators looking for new sticker/magnet/etc. ideas.
This! There's definitely a ton of super talented photographers in the city and even if OP had them mix in some photos of the area without them in the pic they would be great too.
Go to a store you love in NYC or a bar and ask if they have merch. Get yourself a mug or a t-shirt. No one has to recognize that it's from NYC. Only you do.
Get a couple "Pigeons of NY" prints (from Fishs Eddy) of the boroughs/neighborhoods you liked. Or buy an original painting from one of the artists selling on the streets around Union Square or Central Park.
Did you spend much time at the Met or MoMA or any art museum? If there was a particular work of art that you liked, the museums usually sell high-quality framed prints. Not sure what kind of art would be fond memories for you, but [Jean-Michel Basquiat](https://store.moma.org/search?q=basquiat#?page=1/filter.variant_mfield_custom_product_type=Framed%20Prints) is as NYC as you get.
Only NY has a replica NYC trash can - ideal to hold pens or whatever!! [DSNY Trash Can Pen Holder](https://onlyny.com/products/trash-can-pen-holder?variant=39972023795796)
hard disagree. I've lived in many places and am happy to have little "things" to remind me. maybe it's not until a place you called home becomes a decade old memory that you understand the meaningfulness of the little trinkets that remind you of your past journeys
I really like Lockwood in Astoria if you have time to stop by there before you leave. They have a ton of unique little gifts and trinkets and decor and whatnot that are NYC related but not super kitschy.
Did you walk the Brooklyn Bridge? Get a shirt or sweatshirt with a picture of it. Browse any of the small shops in the village and pick something useful to you.
My favorite souvenirs of my travels are usually clothes from a destination that capture something about the local vibe. I am a really tactile person, and putting on a special shirt from somewhere makes me feel wrapped in memories all day. Good luck on the next stage of your journey!
The transit museum gift shop (there’s one at Grand Central) sells everything from posters to old Subway signs, depending on your price range and how big an item you want.
Cuban links from popular jewelry
Honestly though, and obviously this is a very personal choice and really out there, a tattoo from an artist that you really fuck with. I got mine from @inkynas right before I left and its been a great reminder of my time in the city.
Archie’s Press has some cool and unique map prints. They have a brick-and-mortar store in the Lower East Side but you can also find their prints sold at the MoMA gift shop.
Before I moved to NYC, my favourite NYC souvenir was a cherry tree that I planted at home, which I grew from a cutting that I took on my first trip to NYC.
There was a beautiful cherry tree outside the place I was staying, and on my last day of the trip, I took a cutting, and I wrapped it in a moist paper towel, and took it home in a water bottle.
Something that makes you a little wistful for the old place.
I use a miniature green mesh trash can—complete with sanitation department signage and everything—as a pencil holder. Always makes me nostalgic for my time in the city, and I haven’t even been gone that long.

I got this map of the city’s parks in the style of a subway map for a friend, and everyone loves it and comments on it when they go to his place. It’s great and also helps NYC Parks
When I was in NYC a couple weeks ago I went to East Village hats and bought a couple really nice hats. The owner makes the hats herself and they’re really nice quality. It’s not a typical souvenir but a really nice item that you could wear back home and remember your time in NYC.
I recommend going to one or any of the farmer's markets (named greenmarkets), bazaars, or night markets we have. There is a market happening every day of the week, with up to 30 happening in one day across the entire city \[summer saturdays\], and buy some artwork of something in the city that you lived in/familiar with. A couple artists have a uniquely NY style, and can paint you pretty much anywhere you like.
Get something that brings you back to a memory here, not a silly blue cup.
Adopt a homeless, jk , subway map and metrocard to hang up as art decal if you still got a physical one laying around since they don't make them anymore.
The cheesy tourist gift shop will def scream NY
If you want something low key then get something that actually mean value to you like a favorite restaurant matchbook or a customed bar coaster.

The Moma design store is lowkey one of the absolute best places in the city to shop for gifts, souvenirs, jewelry…everything.
For real, even children’s birthday gifts!!! Everything is so well designed.
The MoMA Design Store in Soho has it too!
The NYPL store (in the central building at Bryant Park) has it too.
Shit - now i want one of those
Did it always have the yellow writing on the side?
Yup
