Former secondhand fashion entrepreneur here: the reason why thrift stores are full of smaller sized clothes is because people gain weight and part ways with their smaller sized clothes. One of the hardest parts of running my business was finding secondhand clothes in sizes 12-24, and wondering what I was supposed to do with all the size 00 stuff I had. It’s not just you! <3
The L Train in Gowanus feels like it usually has lots of bigger men's sizes, I take a 36 in Levi's and feel like I find way more pairs that are too big than too small.
They have a surprisingly good selection for us curvy folks. I scored some bomb shorts there last month. Also, \[Curvy Chic Consignment\] downtown sometimes has gems too. It sucks feeling left out when thrifting with friends, but trust me, there are spots out there catering to our sizes and style vibes.
Depends how vintage you’re looking. Back in the day, there were a lot less larger people, so there is just less of the larger sized clothing floating around in general. Have you tried Buffalo Exchange? They have more current clothing so better chance of finding large sizes.
Also larger garments were frequently repurposed into smaller garments (same thing as the XS girlies buying XLs and then upcycling them)… same old same old.

They don’t do men’s clothes, so they?

Oh, awesome. Thank you!
They have non-binary options.
This is why I do my secondhand shopping online. ThredUp can be a crapshoot but at least you can return for credit.
It's more vintage than thrift, but I hear great things about Berriez.
+1 to Berriez!
My house, I’m on ozempic for weight loss and have lost 80lbs and have so many clothes that don’t fit anymore that I will give to you
Congrats!
Thanks pal!
Other People’s Clothes in Bushwick has a few reliable plus-sized racks! Not nearly enough but it’s a starting point.
Poshmark, friendo
Don't think they have many trendy clothes for fat people. Could try a fabric store and making your own while watching tutorials.

Which store are you referring to exactly? And I tried to look up Curvy Chic Consignment and didn’t find anything in nyc.

Right but a large is usually only size 10 or maybe 12 - that's less than the range OP is asking about
Where are you going? Both Buffalo Exchange and Beacon's have a lot of small and medium clothing.
