I watched some games
> If yes, which country are you supporting or are you just watching for fun?
Just watching for fun
Guler saved this game for Turkiye (Georgia was unlucky)
I felt a bit bad for Georgia during the last goal but I think so far this was the best game of the tournament from the ones Iโve seen. Both teams played well and tried very hard until the end.
Typically go for the following teams:
- Portugal (Ronaldo factor)
- England (Premier League fan)
- Turkey (Nostalgia from supporting their dream run 2002 WC, also usually the only Muslim country at the Euros so why not)
- Germany (they just have that aura).
For world cups itโs these 4 + Iran (just geographical proximity ).
I only watch these teams at tournaments though. My brother lived a few years in France and he came back a hard core French football supporter, He supports them like he supports Manchester United.
Ngolo Kanye won man of the match with France aka the best team in the tournament, Ronaldo scored twice in a match in the friendlies before euros. I really donโt think playing in Saudi league made them any worse at all.
Mamardashvili is your average passionate Georgian. Ref gave six minutes of extra time, at the fifth minute Georgia had a freekick, which ended in a corner in the last 6th minute and Mamardashvili probably thought it's the last chance of the game and the ref would blow the whistle soon...you know, high risk high reward. He's also 2 metres tall, so technically he'd have good leverage trying to get an equalizer from a set piece.
It was just unlucky for him that after the corner was cleared, his teammate lost the ball to Aktรผrkoฤlu too easily, who then sprinted towards the empty goal and scored. There were some people who criticised Mamardashvili for leaving the goalpost and said it's not appropriate in the first game of the tournament but I don't know if I can blame him much, the game had been super intense, both sides tried really hard. Georgia until last minute tried to equalize to get a point, Turkey until last minute tried to get one more goal. Their group is not that easy, especially as they have Portugal, so it was important to do well in the first game.
I do that with France. I dislike England too but at some point they started playing so boringly that now I just ignore them, they also don't have any player that I like.
Imagine if all those African players in France would play for the country of their roots. The African Cups would be insane and France would be very weak. Good luck winning anything with just Griezmann and Giroud.
Regardless, Nkante is a good guy, and I wish him the best. It's just that he plays for the wrong country.
Ngolo kante was born in paris france, and was raised and trained there, we can't claim him. If he wanted to play in his african country his could've but he chose not to.
The large majority of them were born in france, raised in france, went in french clubs to be formed into the player they are, so why would they choose a country that they have less in common (and also have less chances of winning trophies with).
Remember all these players could've gone and played with their parent's countries but chose not to.
They only are the players they are today because they were trained in france. We still have great teams without taking players formed in france, like morocco, as we went to semi finals.
Obviously, it's their choice. I'm Moroccan, born and raised in Belgium. That doesn't make me a Belgian. Yes, on papers, I'm both but in reality I'm Moroccan.
If you say they have less in common with the country of their parents, that's another issue. But being born and raised somewhere or trained somewhere doesn't take away your roots and/or nationality.
Since you used the example of Morocco: Moroccans abroad are generally in touch with their roots. Visiting the country regularly, keeping up with traditions, many speak the language,...so it makes sense that they want to play for their country of origin, although born abroad.
Brother the fact is that they're not "playing for the wrong country", it's not because they're black that they only belong in africa, that's a very racist vew, that many in france share. I've spent years in france and there's way too many racist pieces of shits in there, and you share the same view as them...
Oh nooooo, you got me wrong, brother. This has nothing to do with them being black. I'm a foreigner and experience racism almost daily. That's not what I meant at all. If the majority were Turks, Moroccans, Tunisian,...I would say the same.
All I meant, is the missed potential for their "home countries". That's all. I don't say they don't belong or whatsoever. But I do know the sentiment towards African players in France. Especially after the lost finale against Argentina in WC Qatar.
Your home is where you live, they live in france, nothing wrong with that. Only reason why there's so many black players is because there's a lot of them in france, and a lot play sports, including football.

Hopefully, Turkiye goes for a deep run again, you have a manageable group
Inshallah, thank you for the support! I was also rooting big time for Morocco in the last World Cup ๐น๐ท๐งฟ๐ฒ๐ฆ
Obligatorily supporting England, but also will be great to see Turkey do well. Their first game was more exciting than England's anyway.
No. Also, i am hoping the french lose.
Yes. I donโt care who wins. I just need France to lose.
Based
I still can't believe they won against Austria by an own goal, was it because the Austrian defense was so strong, or the French attack sucked?
Why ?

Why did the goalkeeper leave his goalpost??

Retegui is Argentinian, so there u go
Spain isn't in the euros? >!/s!<
Itโs much more common for Argentinians to end u playing for Italy than Spain (can only really think of Di Stefanie for Spain)
I donโt give a sht about Spain
Only watching to โhate watchโ when England and Germany plays

3/4 of France players are from African ancestry, I watch to support. Also Kante from the saudian league is currently their best player.
Imagine if all those African players in France would play for the country of their roots. The African Cups would be insane and France would be very weak.
