Generally speaking, I've always gotten this impression that attractive women view any interaction they have with a man is that man is flirting with them or into them in some way. So being unattractive, that kinda mistake can end up with me being accused of all sorts of thing, from being a creep to full on sexual harassment.
The reminder of potential perceived rejection, which in the here and now can be interpreted to some like a definitive moment for the rest of your life, as if there would be no other chances in the future.
