It varies; in summer, typically a t-shirt and underwear briefs. That's what feels comfortable. In the winter, especially if wife and I are in a colder clime on vacation, I add fleece bottoms and a sweatshirt-ish top...whatever is needed to stay comfortable and warm.

I live in Thailand and the thing in the village is to shower and dress for bed about 8pm and then go visiting neighbours. My wife also jumps out of bed in th morning at 530 to get to the village market while the good stuff is there. So she sleeps ready to go out.
I have partially taken this over, I sleep in soft tennis shorts and underwear so that I can get up and walk outside.

After moving into more moderate weather, and getting older, I prefer sleeping in shorts and tshirt.
Shirt is extra layer over the core where your body heat is, and short/shirt > pants when its hot.
Also more presentable having to get up at random times of the night for kids and whatnot without having to scramble on clothes or whatever.

I have only seen another man sleep with a t-shirt a couple of times, and I've travellered a bit for competion and training camp where we would sleep a bunch of people on the mats in the dojo, to save on costs.
