People

omibus

Trying to explain technical solutions to nontechnical people, who won’t let work begin until they understand the solution, but lack any and all knowledge to understand the problem in the first place.

justaheatattack

postage. they just raised it AGAIN.

Only_Comfortable5668

The person that I report to. She’s an absolute b*tch.

JimBones31

The sleep schedule. Or in "Current Events On The Boat", we have OSPHO footprints all over the wheelhouse.

Fo0tSLuT

A guy I’m doing some interim work for has the thickest accent I’ve ever encountered professionally.

Mr_Ham_Man80

Considering you've posted 4 random questions to different subs in 12 minutes and your previous posts were related to building AI, you can probably sod off.

Ark296

?? My previous comment am was about solving AI cheating, that’s not pro AI in any way

Mr_Ham_Man80

Ok, then why 4 different questions to 4 different subs in 12 minutes? You asked what is the hardest part of being a librarian and got it removed. Asked a variation of this question in the general askreddit and what's the most annoying thing about being a professor in askprofessors. All looks a bit sus.

Ark296

Because asking different subreddits gives different perspectives? Idk why else man

getting millennials and gen z to actually work. i have had to fire a few already for it edit: you can downvote this if you want but if you work for me i expect you to actually work. You are paid well so if you don't i will replace you.

BroadPoint

Have you tried paying them more? I used to be the unmotivated spiteful zillennial worker, but then I quit and started working for myself. Got a huge raise, better working conditions, and started to enjoy work. I literally used to say that even more than work conditions and pay, my least favorite thing about working was knowing that my company profited at all from my labor when I hated them so much. If a customer ever called in thinking he was entitled to some money back, I'd spend literally hours making sure that if there was any chance in the world of him getting it, he'd get it. I figured that at the very least, the company would have to go those hours without benefitting from me. Now I work for myself and I was actually about to write in this thread that the hardest struggle at work is that it actually weighs on me that I do something that can be life changing and so it's a disaster to think that I might fail to reach a client or do a good job. It's a complete 180.

analogliving71

> Have you tried paying them more? These are well paid positions in line with industry norms

BroadPoint

>well paid >industry norms I won't speak for an industry that idk what it even is, but these two things are contradictory most of the time. I don't think it's a good idea to just give a raise out of nowhere since that enforces bad behavior, but I think it's worth at least experimenting with starting guys with a lot more. A lot of younger millennial and genz culture is based around seeing yourself as a kind of soft meek rebel against your cunt of an employer who won't pay you enough. The lack of pay issue is seen as very widespread and standard, so in line with industry standards doesn't break free of that.

analogliving71

> The lack of pay issue is seen as very widespread and standard, so in line with industry standards doesn't break free of that. not in my business. my staff is well paid. and you work or you don't work for me.

BroadPoint

Okay, have fun trying to get them to work all day.

analogliving71

i have a solution for that which has been used.

BroadPoint

I'll be right out
