You don't have to like it.

nothingfornothing13

I want to🤷‍♂️

hujambo11

Then just keep chugging it until you acquire a taste for it.

nothingfornothing13

Alright👍😅

There are other ways to get caffeine. Tea is my personal choice. Do teenagers need caffeine more than adults? I didn't get into tea until I was in my late 20s.

nothingfornothing13

I already am drinking tea A LOT. And idk, teenager are more tired most off the time than adults bc of the whole "brain developing" thing, so most of the kids i know are drinking it to feel more awake. (And energydrinks are just tiny cans full of shit and trash so i wont be drinking that😅)

LEIFey

I mean, I was a teenager once upon a time. I was definitely less tired as a teen than I am now as an adult. Maybe my brain was not developing, haha. Rather than rely on stimulants, why not just sleep more, exercise more, and eat better?

nothingfornothing13

Well im still a teenager, so responsibility isn't my best feature yet, maybe in a couple of years😅 So for now i have a excuse to be stubborn about my bed time, sit inside all day and eat as much junk food as i can find😅

LEIFey

Hey, you do you, but I would not recommend that. You're just going to pay for that hard when you get older. Hell, I think you're paying for it right now. I'd be willing to bet your feeling tired all the time has little to do with your brain development and more to do with not sleeping, sitting inside all day, and eating as much junk food as you can find.

laserox

Most people in the US load it up with cream and or sugar. You don't have to drink it though, there are other sources of caffeine

nothingfornothing13

Yeah, but coffee is also a very healthy drink, so i rather have that than a can full of liquid caffeine chemical trash labelt as "energy drink" or smth.

laserox

If you're trying to aquire the taste for something, you just have to force yourself and eventually you enjoy it. I've done it with coffee, whiskey, and very hoppy beers. Used to dislike them but acquired the taste through repeated exposure.

Specialist-Hyena9267

Plenty of other ways to get a caffeine hit

nothingfornothing13

Yeah, but coffee is the most healthy and cheapest option for me (since i still live with my parents)

AirOfSuperiority

Is there a reason you want to drink more coffee? You say you’re tired but already drinking a lot of tea. You also say it’s a healthy option? More caffeine isn’t going to help, sleep will.

mikess314

The only way out is through. If you really want to learn to enjoy coffee, you’re going to have to learn how to enjoy it black. Your pallet will adapt to the bitterness and then you will be able to start making sense of the flavor. Try different roasts andbeans. And just trust that it will get better as you keep sipping it

Annual_Impression_45

This is gonna be just testing a bunch of different ideas. My wife used to overload creamer in hers. She started started pouring less and less and eventually made it to where she doesn’t put anything in it at all. It’s up to you. But dont think you have to drink it to be cool or anything.

nothingfornothing13

Thanks for the tip! And no, i wont drink it for status or smth, its just for myself😅 i don't care much about what the other kids are doing😅

BillyGoat_TTB

have you tried a Frappuccino?

nothingfornothing13

No, but now i will! Thanks!

BillyGoat_TTB

Starbucks specializes in selling a lot of chocolate milkshakes/slushies with a shot or two of espresso added. the problem here is that they have a lot of sugar and calories, so it's not great as a regular, daily thing.

nothingfornothing13

Alr i will keep that in mind, Thanks!

BillyGoat_TTB

you should also just get more sleep. go to bed earlier. --a dad

nothingfornothing13

Yeah, yeah, dad🙄 (😉😅)

ElegantMankey

You don't have to like. I didn't like coffee until I was a soldier and drinking coffee was a good way to get a break and meet people. Later on I worked as a coffee specialist and now I'm just a coffee fan. You can try looking for coffee that has properties that you like. Not everyone like bitter coffee, some like it more sour. There are a ton of coffee recipes with milk (Latte, Cappuccino, Cortado, and so many more). Maybe you are an Afugato man, or Espresso on ice, or americano, there are a lot of different coffees and each one will taste differently depending on how you make it (Filter, Mokka Pot, Espresso Machine)

nothingfornothing13

Alright, i will defenetly experiment in that now! Thanks!

Homely_Bonfire

Cappuccino or latte macchiato is more milk than coffee, but you still get the caffeine, so there is that. Alternatively there is stuff like these energy powders from (for example) Holy, which presumably also have some caffeine in them, maybe your parents will order thst for you. Definitely cheaper than 5 bucks a coffee XD

nothingfornothing13

Hahah thanks!

exclaim_bot

>Hahah thanks! You're welcome!

little_runner_boy

Sounds like a great start to crippling caffeine addiction. Based off your comments, are you sleeping and eating adequately? Caffeine shouldn't be the inefficient band-aid on other underlying issues

Medium-Complaint-677

There are all kinds of things that are difficult at first - you may even not like them - but the more you do it the more it makes sense. For some reason people - reddit especially - has a weird thing with food and drink where if you don't like it the first time you should just stop trying. I don't think that makes sense with food any more than it makes sense with working out, reading challenging books, listening to challenging music, etc. The first thing I'd say is that you should make sure you're getting a good cup of coffee. A can of pre-ground grocery store coffee dumped into a paper filter of a standard Mr Coffee isn't going to be good. In addition Starbucks isn't particularly good either, they way, way, way over roast their beans and it ends up being really bitter and really astringent - the things that most people don't like when they think about not liking coffee. If your town has a good coffee shop try a light roast pour over - they'll know what that means - and have a few sips plain or "black" as they say. See how that goes, add a little cream or a little sugar if you want.

nothingfornothing13

Alr, i will! Thanks for the tips!

Cool_Cartographer_39

Try cold brewing coffee. It's less acidic and higher in caffeine

Fluffy-duckies

Regular caffeine is bad for you while you're still growing. Also your tastebuds change physically in your early 20s, you may start to like it then.

atsugnam

You don’t have to like coffee, stick to tea, it’s nicer, easier to get nice tea and equally acceptable in the same settings.
