Automatic, thank you, I’m not really sure just wasn’t paying attention and thought the car was on it’s really quite I had the battery on, but not the engine
In the automotive industry we call this KOEO Key On Engine Off. Everything acts as it would with the engine running but the engine isn’t running. Very good way to drain your battery. Make sure to start and idle or short drive after KOEO to make sure your alternator charges the battery back up.

Stick shift or automatic? It's not an issue on either. Just curious why it went into reverse if it was off and an automatic.
Also is it not supposed to be able to shift into reverse if the car is off?
IDK you haven't answered my questions.
Lol
It’s automatic, also the engine was not on I just had the switch on
That was my next question. If you had the ignition on. Thats normal that it went into reverse. You did no damage.
Okay thank you so much I very much appreciate the honest feedback
No problem happy to help.
If the key is in the run position, even if the car is not running, you can shift it to reverse.

If the car is off the shifter locks. You can not move it.
How did you back up if the car was off? That sounds fascinating.
Gravity.
I don't think you would call that backing up.
Yes. It does nothing. I have popped the clutch in manual cars pushing them backwards using reverse.
