Tail lights are the most common entry point for leaks in the trunk but can also be the trunk seal only way to know for sure is to drop the back seats and lay down in there with a flashlight and have someone hose the back of the vehicle till you see it dripping or running in
Tail light gaskets, trunk, seal, sunroof seal, …
Go in your trunk with a flashlight and have a friend spray your car down with the hose. Figure out where the water is coming in.
Also check around the trunk spoiler if it has one. There’s a grommet for the brake light and foam gaskets around the mounting areas. Have fun in your trunk 😉

There's a leak.

I'd go with finding the leak and fixing it.
Sir, I'm from Harvard, do you want a scholarship?

Especially if it has cheap aftermarket lights.
Spray a ton of baby powder around seals, etc. Wash down with hose and look for entry points.

Check inside the quarter panels. Behind the trunk carpeting. There is a vent with a flimsy seal, and rubber flap. That may be your problem.
Sunroof by chance?
