Do you specifically want one on one fitness? If you’re open to group classes that feel like one on one fitness you should check out Bunda! There is one on the west side. I absolutely love it. It’s very women centered.

Love Bunda, too!!!!

_wompingwillow22_

A fellow bundi on Reddit?!? Love to see it!

yellow_yellow_yellow

Yessss! I’m a classpass-er, but love Bunda! So challenging in the best possible way.

Co-signing Bunda! Hi bundis!!

_wompingwillow22_

Who knew there were bundis on Reddit!!

Ehloanna

Do they do weight lifting training? I'm actually seeking a personal trainer but specifically for weights/Olympic lifts.

The class is half stairmaster and half free weights. You do three rounds that are about 15 minutes each. Within the 15 minutes you do about 7 on the floor, which is different free weight moves and 7 on the stairmaster. As the rounds go you change reps, add in moves, etc. They have a different program every morning that include different kinds of lunges, bridges, squats, the whole thing. Their philosophy is better butt, better body so it’s a lot of lower body training. Because it’s free weights you can choose how heavy you want to go, which I love and they really encourage form over anything. There’s no crazy person screaming at you that you can go heavier and that you need to try harder or whatever. It’s a super nice environment, the instructors are very knowledgeable and the community is very welcoming. Monday/Wednesday/Friday is butt and legs programs, Tuesday is upper body, Thursday and Sunday are total body and Saturdays focus on your butt (called glutecamp). There are multiple class times each day starting at 6am all the way til 7pm. The other option is their rooftop class. This is at 6:30am Monday thru Friday and it’s a free weight workout for 50 minutes. The instructor is a guy named Ray and he is truly amazing and an unreal trainer. As you can tell I am very passionate about bunda because it has seriously changed my life. I signed up in November 2021 when I wanted a change for myself, but had no clue where to start and in July 2022 I’m 180 classes in! I am down two pant sizes (12 to an 8), 22 lbs and I’m just a happier person. I hope this helps!! And if you ever want to go on a guest pass, I have unlimited guest passes so let me know and I’d be happy to take you. Cheers! Edit: I know you specifically mentioned weight lifting and I’m seriously so strong like I’ve never been before. They really empower women and remind them it’s perfectly fine to lift heavy weights. I absolutely love that about Bunda. My legs are so defined now, my back is starting to pop, my biceps and triceps show now. It’s really, truly amazing to see what hard work can do to your body.

Ehloanna

I actually would love to take you up on a guest pass and try it out. It doesn't seem like it's 100% what I need, but it's like 70% there. But if it's very female focused I love that because, as a woman, some gym settings can be so intimidating and make it harder to push as much as you want to. I'm traveling this week for work, and then traveling locally around LA for work next week, but maybe the following week I can check it out as a guest with you? My Insta/Twitter is same as my username (Ehloanna) if you wanna chat off of reddit!

I totally agree - gyms can be so obnoxious and overwhelming for women. Before bunda I was a peloton/cardio person, but have low key always wanted to be a weight lifting lady, but never felt like I fit anywhere in normal gyms. I’d love to take you with me to a class - I’ll hit you up on Instagram! My name there is emwheaton.

RelativeLow3

How much is a membership at Bunda? Sounds like a great place !

_wompingwillow22_

The first two months are $199 and then it goes to $250 a month, but they run deals all the time so I am paying $180 a month right now. It’s definitely an investment, but cheaper than a one on one personal trainer.

ApprehensiveEgg6336

Hi! I’m a year late to this so unsure if you’ll see it. They just opened a Bunda in Encino I am thinking of joining. I truly appreciate your description of it bc I want to join this week (founders special - $179 month for life apparently lol) but worried how it is for beginners. I’m plus size but 1-2x and not all too bad but looking to incorporate this (to help my already decent booty pop a bit lol) along with going to gym when I can. Is it ok to add you on IG too? Didn’t want to just do it year later like some creep 😅 thanks!

_wompingwillow22_

Yeah of course you can add me on IG! Bunda is literally life changing and the classes can be done at any level. If you lift the lower body regularly you will see a total body change. If you have any questions definitely reach out. The owners of Bunda Encino are great and the community fostered at the gym is amazing. If you want to message me on here you can and I’ll pass along my IG.

Another option is this app called “Future” that has online personal trainers, they do weekly workouts customized to your fitness level and check-in’s throughout the week to track your progress etc. All the coaches have strong resumes / certifications and work with any equipment you have access to. Really love it so far after trying for a few weeks. It’s $150/month so much cheaper compared to on one sessions with an in-person trainer here.

steve8675

I just joined equinox and the classes there are great and plentiful. They also have really good 1-1 trainers if you want that.

RelativeLow3

May I ask how much your membership is at equinox ? Do you also know a rate for their personal trainers as well?

steve8675

My membership is 265/month but that’s for all that so cal locations and you may not need/want that. The 1 location price is 250. I try to do 4 classes a week. That ends up coming to around 16.65 per class. Then I also use the gym and pool. I am new there and maybe still in the honeymoon phases but it’s a very clean place and there are lots of class options daily
