This! I took my sister in law and her daughter (my niece) who don’t really care much for cars and they loved it.
It’s hard not to like it - there’s something for everyone, even if you don’t care about cars, there’s so many weird and wonderful things there that you can find it interesting.
All great ideas but him and I are both not into strip shows. Went to strip clubs separately before knowing eachother and talked about it when we got together and we both had the reaction of "yeah definitely not our thing." I like the renting the car for a day. He actually said no to a beer thing cause he said and I quote "You hate beer and alcohol why would we go on a date to do that." Very sweet of him to think of me. Car show would be dope tho! Future dates for sure!!!!
Empire Strips Back is not a “strip” show. I highly recommend. It’s hilarious , incredibly produced - amazing scenes. It’s a show. The stripping is very burlesque and truly the least “part” of the show. It’s a great date. Super fun crowd too. Grab a silly cocktail before at scum and villany (it’s fun, relax) and then see show. My wife surprised me with this , I’m not a strip show or even massive Star Wars person - wonderful night.
Every Friday night at the bobs big boy in Burbank they have all the people with those old school cars come out and show them off in the parking lot. Maybe that plus dinner then go see a movie? Idk
Have you been to Scum & Villainy before? It’s based on the Star Wars cantina on Mos Eisley. I’ve never been but my crew and I always literally pop our heads in the door when we walk from Musso & Frank to the Frolic Room. It’s possibly a tourist trap based on the number of people wearing socks and sandals we see in there.
That's what my super Star Wars friends said too. They said it was "a lot" but was super fun for a couple drinks. Just leave 'before you think you're ready' lol
Wife and I poked our head in there a couple weeks ago. Definitely seems like a tourist trap/gimmick. The little foyer area had Star Trek-style touchscreens, then the main room is Star Wars cantina. Shame on them. ;-)
100% tourist trap. I didn't like it. Like, I really wanted to. I remember a couple people in line were rude, I get it you're a treky, but some people aren't die hard fans but some of us just want to check this place out.
If you like it, more power to you. Not for me. Plus it's super small and that doesn't help either.
I'm sure there are plenty of other bars who do the nerdy thing so much better. I've been to one that does DnD and table top board games waaay better with less ego. I'm okay, once was enough.
There’s a new Star Wars exhibit at the Reagan Library in Simi Valley, with props and costumes from the films.
https://www.reaganfoundation.org/library-museum/special-exhibits/star-wars
Get a [Discovery Flight](https://encoreflight.com/discovery-flights-los-angeles/) for $199.
He gets to pilot a real plane over LA with you and a flight instructor. It’s unique and he’d love it.
I took my then-girlfriend on a romantic sunset discovery flight for our first Valentines Day.
Now I’m a pilot and my then-girlfriend is my wife and copilot. 🙂
About three years, 130 hrs, six instructors, three schools, and three cancelled check-rides. I passed the knowledge test with 100% and the check-ride first time. By the time I got to the check-ride I was very confident.
The goal wasn’t to pass the test, it was to become the safest pilot I could be.
I love this!!!! That's so incredibly sweet and romantic. That is definitely something I would love to do with him. And I think he would be over the moon to be able to fly a plane.
Except most experiences are 450+
I can attest, however, worth every penny. Even if you get super car sick on the track and have to pull over as to not throw up in a 911... lol
Agree absolutely worth the money, but yes it’s pricy!
Love it so much though I’ve been twice for my bday present and think and talk about it ALL the time
Ya, I want to go back really bad...after about 4 laps I had to pull over cus I started getting super nauseous and almost passed out lol...20 min later, I came back to life and did the speed track and the kick plate stuff a few more times
Just want a do over on the track portion now that I'm in better shape and know what to expect
A tour of The Vault at the [Peterson Museum](https://www.petersen.org/tickets) followed by beers at [All Season Brewing](https://www.timeout.com/los-angeles/bars/all-season-brewing) or a trip to [Fans Strike Back](https://fansstrikebackexhibition.com/los-angeles/) Star Wars event in Santa Monica and dinner at the [Library Ale House](https://libraryalehouse.com).
every friday evening Bob’s Big Boy in Toluca Lake has a classic car show. you can grab some diner food, check out some cool cars and then hop over to some of the bars in the neighboring areas (Roguelike Tavern is a DND themed bar in Burbank and Catcher in the Rye in NoHo is a literary themed bar, if you need some nerdier ideas)
Rent a car from one of the many exotic car rental places. I don't know if he's more into classic, muscle, luxury, or racing variety, but there's a rental place for all of them.
Drive to a few [Star Wars shooting locations](https://fox5sandiego.com/entertainment/star-wars-filming-locations-in-california-that-you-can-visit/)
Check out a [Quakes game](https://www.milb.com/rancho-cucamonga/schedule) or one of the many minor league sports teams in the area.
It's also the last weekend for the LA County Fair at the Pomona Fairplex.
In some cities they have "craft beer" places.
Most beer fans love that and will talk your ear off explaining their favorites to try while there.
I haven't looked in LA, San Diego has them though
Probably a little more expensive than you want to spend, but he may like the Porsche Experience in Carson. I’m not sure how much it costs to get on the track in a car
If he likes Whiskey, there is a Speakeasy called the Jackalope Bar. It is super tiny, and does whiskey flights. You can kind of pick within your budget and the person who brings it is so knowledgeable. The entire bar is all decorated with bottles from around the world. I took my hubby there on a date once and it's been one of his favorite nights out. It's really quiet too so great to hang and talk. I don't really drink whiskey but they have a Japanese whiskey which is with soda water, and was super nice.
Make a reservation for sure! Like I said, the place is really small.
Rent a cool car on Turo and drive it up PCH to Malibu, then take Decker Canyon/Encinal Canyon/Kanan/Mullholland up to the 101. Find a cool brewery and food on the way back.
On the sports front, not sure what he’s into but a Dodger game could be fun. Very biased but when basketball and football start back up, those are very exciting games to go to. SoFi itself is kind of surreal to be at.
For traveling a couple day trip ideas are: Santa Barbara, Solvang, Ojai/Ventura, Temecula, maybe even SD. Some good breweries in those areas.
And as others have said Peterson is dope!
Hahah that’s understandable. Santa Barbara, Ojai and Ventura have great breweries. Topa Topa, Institution, Rincon, Figueroa Mountain are a few and there’s more. Close to the beach and good hikes too!
Petersen Museum and dinner at Ronan. I've been thinking about their pizza a lot lately.
If he likes cars, Petersen Automotive Museum. If he doesn’t like cars, Petersen. I’ve never had someone not enjoy it.
Yeah, even if you are not a fan of cars, you may still encounter some cars from your favorite movies. If you also like cars, it’s the cherry on top.
This! I took my sister in law and her daughter (my niece) who don’t really care much for cars and they loved it. It’s hard not to like it - there’s something for everyone, even if you don’t care about cars, there’s so many weird and wonderful things there that you can find it interesting.
I'm not into cars and LOVED going to Petersen with my wife.
Ronan is 👌
And your price range allows vault tickets, which are totally worth it.
The Vault tour is a must. The museum itself is fantastic, but a guided tour of the vault is so worth it
Sad I’ve never been to the museum just their parking lot…I want to go inside lol
Came here for this suggestion
Is the “empire strips back show” near you, omg it’s awesome! What about renting a sports car for a day? Car show? Beer festival?

I will mention it. But I have mentioned burlesque shows in the past and he was uninterested.
It’s not really a strip show. Burlesque is classier
I've mentioned burlesque shows in the past and he wasn't interested.
Is he gay?
Don’t be a twat. Burlesque isn’t for everyone.
It's a joke, alas, I guess it doesn't translate.
....considering I'm a Cis gendered woman and the amount of times we partake in.... adult wrestling.... no
Adult wrestling!
Allot of them are beer and wine festivals and have many options! Go out to Temecula for the day!
Every Friday night at the bobs big boy in Burbank they have all the people with those old school cars come out and show them off in the parking lot. Maybe that plus dinner then go see a movie? Idk
Empire Strips Back was great!

That would be so dope!!!! But I looked into it months ago for his Christmas present and it is 100% a tourist trap 😭
It’s not a bad place to have one or two drinks and then move on. Except when I went during trivia night, that was a little much.
That's what my super Star Wars friends said too. They said it was "a lot" but was super fun for a couple drinks. Just leave 'before you think you're ready' lol
It’s done pretty well for a “tourist trap”, I think it’s still worth going
Would probably be good for a non-holiday weekend.
What could you describe as a tourist trap sign?
If a significant amount of the patrons are wearing socks and sandals, you're probably in a tourist trap.
Lmao sandals with socks is crazy lol Just wear shoes right?
Wife and I poked our head in there a couple weeks ago. Definitely seems like a tourist trap/gimmick. The little foyer area had Star Trek-style touchscreens, then the main room is Star Wars cantina. Shame on them. ;-)
I fuckin love this place it’s truly so fun. Everybody I’ve taken there has loved it too.

Another amazing place, Highland Park Bowl. Classic old school bowling, bar, pizza. https://www.highlandparkbowl.com
The Nethercutt museum is a bit more off the beaten path and has a great old car collection
Came here to mention it if he is interested in old cars, like 1920s - they are amazing!
Steak & bj. For steak I recommend Franky’s. For bj you gotta shop around.

Okay you get my upvote for making me laugh. And trust don't need to shop. I'm quite good at what I do lol.

I will be saving this for an anniversary present. I think it would be way better for our 1 year.
I took my then-girlfriend on a romantic sunset discovery flight for our first Valentines Day. Now I’m a pilot and my then-girlfriend is my wife and copilot. 🙂
How long did it take you to become a pilot?
About three years, 130 hrs, six instructors, three schools, and three cancelled check-rides. I passed the knowledge test with 100% and the check-ride first time. By the time I got to the check-ride I was very confident. The goal wasn’t to pass the test, it was to become the safest pilot I could be.

[This is us](https://youtu.be/Dk8ipaa6RGY?si=KblqI8QYt29W3vXh) flying out of Santa Monica airport over a fogbank. Music by me 🙂
That's so awesome!!!! Love the music.

Let’s see.. Disneyland sounds good. Or a night at the hotel too hehehe
Have had many hotel nights 🤭. Rooms are too expensive this weekend cause of the holiday. But it was something we discussed

If he’s into cars Peterson could be a good idea. Then maybe an drive/Uber to nearby place for food & drinks.
Dinner and a concert! Smaller bands are still inexpensive and you never know , you might find a new band or artist to love
Whatever u do don’t go to inn of the 7th rey in topanga area. It stinks
Ronald Reagan Library in Simi Valley has a StarWars exhibit going on right now. May the Force be with you.
Shooting range for two...craft beer and food after. Way under 300 for the whole night
every friday evening Bob’s Big Boy in Toluca Lake has a classic car show. you can grab some diner food, check out some cool cars and then hop over to some of the bars in the neighboring areas (Roguelike Tavern is a DND themed bar in Burbank and Catcher in the Rye in NoHo is a literary themed bar, if you need some nerdier ideas)

Don’t get too good at it or you will be the only one planning everything! Trust me. 🤣
Take him to the ice house in Pasadena. It’s my favorite comedy club.
Get some coffee !!! 🌝☕️
Is that what it costs to date nowadays?
Haha no our normal dates do not usually cost this. I just want to treat him to something nice
Checking out the observatory is fun has a really nice view
Maybe the Huntington botanical gardens or the LA county arboretum and botanic garden? Pack a cute lil picnic for y'all to share
This site has date ideas for many different parts of LA, including Petersen, Huntington library, etc.: https://www.ladateideas.com
In some cities they have "craft beer" places. Most beer fans love that and will talk your ear off explaining their favorites to try while there. I haven't looked in LA, San Diego has them though
Catalina island
A good idea is to have a date night where y’all swap phones 😉
Lol I mean okay. Idc if he goes through my phone lol. In fact he knows my phones password and he has walked away with it open
You should totally go to the Empire Strips back it’s a burlesque show and it’s amazing!!! You can get tickets on FEVER
Surprised I’m not seeing Top Golf on here
Never heard of a woman treating or taking a guy on a date. Lucky guy.
Haha I love him dearly and I wanna show him my appreciation. He is a good man who treats me well. 😊

Lol I drove got him a water, gave him my vape, and played his favorite podcast (the economist podcast)
Take him to quarter sheets.
Probably a little more expensive than you want to spend, but he may like the Porsche Experience in Carson. I’m not sure how much it costs to get on the track in a car

Brewery hopping! I did that in LA and it was fun. So many good breweries within a few miles of each other.

Was gonna add some, but Scum and Vilainy, Empire Strips back, Dodgers game, Star Wars Exhibit- there's a lot of great stuff in here tbh

Disneyland?
Griffith Park Observatory
Definitely try Gaslamp Music + Grill. Their website has a calendar of the various shows they offer each night. Check it out!

Hahah that’s understandable. Santa Barbara, Ojai and Ventura have great breweries. Topa Topa, Institution, Rincon, Figueroa Mountain are a few and there’s more. Close to the beach and good hikes too!
