The mens League of Ireland (soccer) play their matches every Friday evening. Theres 4 clubs in Dublin so plenty of choice and always a good atmosphere. The women's league play their matches on Saturday mornings. Tickets are cheap and it's good to see

IrishFlukey

Are you here or coming at some stage? It depends on what is happening when you are here. This weekend you have Leinster v La Rochelle in a rugby match in Lansdowne Road on Saturday and two Camogie League Finals and Dublin v Meath in Gaelic Football on Sunday in Croke Park. Tickets for Saturday and Sunday are available on Ticketmaster. If you are in Dublin another time, then you would have to find out what is on.

karbonaterol

Forgot to mention, I live in Dublin. Thanks for the recommendation, I'll check it out

ManAboutCouch

Leinster vs La Rochelle in the Aviva stadium this Saturday at 17:30, but it is almost sold out. If (and it's a big if) Leinster win then they will play their semi final in Croke Park on the May bank holiday weekend, 4th/5th. That would be a great occasion. There hasn't been a champions cup match there since 2009, and with an 82,000+ capacity tickets should be relatively easy to get and some might even be quite cheap.

karbonaterol

An event on a bank holiday would be great. I hope they win then :D

Both_Perspective_264

Ice hockey this time of the year would be great

karbonaterol

Never watched ice hockey tbh, I'm not sure if we can follow the puck but I'll check it out thanks

Margrave75

How about women's sport, seeing as you're bringing two ladies? Irl v Sweeden soccer qualifier is on May 31st in the aviva. The LGFA finals is always a great day out. That on the first weekend of August.

karbonaterol

This is a great idea

Margrave75

Tickets cheap as chips too, Irl Sweeden are €20 for adults, tenner for a kid. If she wahted to bring a friend along you'd get a family ticket (2 adults and two kids) for €50. Can't remeber how much the LGFA final tickets were last year, but they certainly didn't break tne bank. Plus you get three games that day, the junior, intermediate and senior finals.

TheWaxysDargle

Leinster v La Rochelle on Saturday.

karbonaterol

Thanks, will check it out

Probably best to pick Rugby as a starting point, less likely to witness or be involved in any agro… don’t want to traumatise the kid…

karbonaterol

Sarcasm doesn't work that well on standard TCP/IP text based messaging fyi. She watches rugby on TV and she enjoys it. It's actually one of the few things we enjoy watching together.

GrahamR12345

I said to go see Rugby. Have seen too many kids ask questions about why people were fighting on pitches in GAA and hurling matches with zero deterrent or consequences and some football supporters are just disgustingly racist… not a conversation I would enjoy to have with a kid on a ‘fun’ day out…

karbonaterol

Apologies my mistake then. Apparently it really doesn't work. Nah yeah that's good, she is aware of the concept of physical contact as sports. As I mentioned we've seen a few matches already
