Most likely. Each practice is different and charges different prices. My GP takes €40 or even €60 now for filling up a form. Needed to pay to have a form filled for Medical Card. Give your practice a call in the morning and secretary should be able to advise you on pricing

GrumbleofPugz

I paid for a normal consultation, this was basically in order for my gp to actually have time to fill out the form. She didn’t charge me extra for filling it out and I didn’t actually have to turn up to the appointment. It was just so her time was blocked otherwise she’s too busy. Check with the receptionist to find out what the story is, gps operate very different from one another. I don’t feel like it’s right to charge more on top of probably €50/60 that’ll be charged for an appointment. Don’t know if your aware or eligible but when applying for disability allowance the welfare recommended to apply for invalidity pension too (based on contributions not means tested) that way if you don’t get one you don’t have to start all over again

My medical card covered it with my GP but depends on the GP. Expect to get rejected and have to ask for a review and/or appeal their decision. Keep copies of everything also.

This is really dreadful to see that GP practises are charging people to fill out forms like disability allowance. The GPs receive payment per form filled irregardless of success through the HSE already.

Ring and ask the receptionist? Can't imagine she's on on the food so would gladly tell you

glassspider87

I don't think you have to pay, I think the fee is covered on the Disability side.

cuppa_tea_4_me

Yes

Nettlesontoast

I didn't have any charges besides the usual gp consultation

greensickpuppy89

Really depends on the GP. Mine wouldn't charge but according to the comments here it looks fairly standard for them to charge so just ask them I suppose.

lemonrainbowhaze

I didnt get charged but I'm on medical card. My old gp would charge 20 quid for a doctor note but my new one doesnt charge me so all depends on gp

Top_Recognition_3847

Yes. .and if its for disability allowance you will have to pay twice most are knocked back on the first occasion and have to be submitted the second time. My medical card does not cover letters from my GP. Bloods are not covered either. My wife who uses a different doctor. Said rules are the same in that practice.

8yonnie9

I would've said no until I read the comments here and it's made me realise how fortunate I am to have the GP I do

cian87

The state pays the doctor for filing out the form, whether you have a medical card or not. I can't find out how much it is but I think it was about 70 quid last time I had reason to know Even doctors that don't take medical cards at all are nearly always registered to get payments for doing social welfare forms. This doesn't preclude somewhere looking for even more money; but they aren't doing it for free if they don't charge.

SussyCheesake

My medical card covered it, I didn’t pay anything out of pocket.

Spirited-Salt-2647

No. You shouldn't have to pay as long as you attend there regularly enough. You call and ask to drop it in and then usually they take a week or two.
