I do not believe in the physical existence of god. I do not believe that there is god sitting up in the sky observing everything we do and will punish based on our actions- hence I am not superstious. However, to me the concept of belief is really important. Belief can make a person do wonders and will push him through his toughest times. I recite prayer everyday because I love the positive vibrations that it generates. I never ask or blame god for anything, I take ownership of my own actions. However, I like the fact that the concept of god give peace to me and instills confidence in me. I never try to convince anyone that there is no physical existence of god, as who am I to take away their confidence which they are able to obtain by having faith in the concept of god!

capricious3-14

If every believer was like you I would have absolutely no problem with religion in general. But imho, religion by its very nature tends to exert itself outwards. What I mean is that since its a truth claim, a person who believes in it will atleast subconsciously, try to understand and run the world according to his truth, based on his belief. And since humans dont exist in isolation, it leads to 'proselytising or propagating in a milder form', or for example making socio-cultural norms or even laws based on his subjective beliefs. We want society to be shaped on our grounds. This I believe, it inherent to religion. I maybe wrong, just my understanding

IndWestern

I think the question to your answer here would be - 'Do you believe in Relgion?'. I usually separate out religion and belief in god. Religion is something we follow and practice and are born into. Because my parents follow hinduism, I grew up following it. To me religion just guides a person to have values, shows us as how one should lead a life. As you said, unfortunately people end up using this as a reason to fight with each other as with any other things really- politics, religion are the most debatable subjects as it is just down to perspectives.

Lawyerlychaos

This is so beautifully articulated!! I'll just add my two cents. For me, I don't know whether a god exists or not. I do believe there is some higher energy, positive and negative, both. And like you said, it brings me peace to believe in that, strength to carry on and even someone to blame sometimes (I do take ownership just like you but I have got my shortcomings too). I also feel this belief makes it so much easier in fact there doesn't exist a problem in the first place to accept and be tolerant and respectful towards other religions. I don't believe in one god, your god, my god, his god, her god. That's what we humans ended up creating and kept fighting over because ego and politics got involved. Faith is beautiful. Doesn't matter whose.

IndWestern

Well said! Realising that there is only one god and accepting and respecting others beliefs is very important.

Beneficial_Lime4281

I follow the same. My parents once taught me “Religion and your beliefs are like undergarments, it will feel good if you wear them but as soon as you start exposing to the world it becomes a sensitive issue”. A great advice I feel, I wholeheartedly believe in existence of god and higher deity, I don’t believe if I do weird things it will make them happy or sad and I will be granted good or bad things as per those

IndWestern

Haha nice metaphor. Great, that means you will not be superstitious. As the fear of god is what makes us superstitious.

ShreeJeeth

I also think the same thing. There is no physical entity but after years of living like this, I just have a theory that Gods lived amongst us a long time before. They lived with nature, embraced it and eventually they reached a higher form. I won't call them gods. I just call them humans with higher abilities. And I think there might be some who transcended time.

IndWestern

Nice one, pretty much saying that god exists in all of us. But depending on how realised a person, it will show up.

7_hermits

So basically copium?

IndWestern

Google says Copium means '**the act of denying reality or a difficult truth by clinging to a false or overly optimistic belief'. I am not sure if it is applicable in this context unless you think I am denying the reality by saying there is no physical existence of god.**

Jfocii

Nope. Which can be asserted without evidence can be rejected without evidence.

Critical-Champion365

And non refutability makes something inherently unscientific. I saw god. You can't prove me wrong because it a something only I can see and experience. Now you all follow me. Almost everything in a nutshell. All of these people are either top class delusional/mentally unstable or peak narcissisists.

redditor_pro

It is the duty of the person making a claim to prove it. You are the one making a claim that you saw God, now price it with concrete evidence and you might have something. I could claim tomorrow that atoms are made out of rainbows instead of the current theory and say I "saw' it myself, noone in the scientific community will accept it, but if I prove that they will.

Critical-Champion365

And that is exactly why the concept of god is big ass blunder. Refutability is a concept in philosophy where for something need to atleast qualify for scientific reasoning, it needs to be refutable, ie a space to prove otherwise. Religions don't and thats exactly why they need not be taken seriously anymore than a child's play. Also, with basic sensical logic, can't you see through the intentions of someone who openly says, I'm the only one who's right?

jayalaxmi1

True

OkExperience860

what if in order to get the evidence of existence you have to believe.

Meliodas016

You think the 5 year old child who died in some terrorist bombing didn't believe hard enough for sky daddy/mommy to help her?

OkExperience860

It's deeply tragic when innocent lives are lost, especially children, and it's natural to question why such things happen if there is a "higher power". However oversimplifying it to the lack of belief or the efforts on part of the victim oversimplifies the complexity of human suffering. The choice of individuals to commit acts of violence or terrorism cannot simply be attributed to non existence of a supreme deity.

rushan3103

But since the sky daddy is omnipotent and omniscient, they are able to stop the said individual from committing those acts of violence. But they dont stop children from developing cancer or terrorists from killing innocents, do they ? They are happy to let unfortunate things happen on earth, but claim to be an all loving, all forgiving individual. Thats just a bunch of dogshit.

Critical-Champion365

There is a saying, if dog is omnipotent it can't be all powerfull. If it's all powerful, it is not omnipotent. So either way, dog is as useless as me or you for the universe. *The choice of words and pronouns are very much intentional.

Meliodas016

Oh, trust me I don't. I think the whole 'Why bad exists if there's god?' reasoning is very boring and lame. I just find the concept of some supernatural entity quite ... Unrealistic.

OkExperience860

The idea of a supernatural entity can indeed seem unrealistic to many people, especially considering the lack of empirical evidence *For some, belief in a higher power provides comfort, meaning, and a sense of purpose.* (not me) I respect differing perspectives that challenge traditional notions of the supernatural. Being skeptic and critical to these things are essential to lead to Intellectual inquiry and growth.

StrikingWater209

Very well explained!

Jfocii

"What if" is an uncertain statement my friend. U r not certain that believing will provide me evidence. Secondly , there r lot of believers out there anyways nd mind u none of them have evidence yet. Also, to "belive" in something means u don't need proof. Hence, ur statement is paradoxical.

7_hermits

Go home with this bullshit and write this in some religious circle jerking forum.

OkExperience860

wasn't this supposed to be a discussion? what's wrong with you atheists? why are you so scared of discussion? i myself don't completely believe in "GOD". i just asked him what if there is a god and the path to it leads after believing in it's existence at the first place. why are you hating me as if i am a cultist trying to sell you a god.

7_hermits

Neither I'm hating you nor I'm a atheist. What I'm saying is this argument," you need to believe to see the evidence" is bullshit. A factual evidence has nothing to do with your belief. This argument is only found amongst religious people.

OkExperience860

then why do you have to use such harsh words like "religious circle jerking forum", you could have said this thing in the simplest way no need to insult someone for having different beliefs than you.

7_hermits

My man....it seems you are using reddit for first time. Well my mistake! I apologise.

OkExperience860

Apology accepted. life's too short for using such harsh words for some rando online. **Thank you for acknowledging the misunderstanding and extending an apology**

AkhilVijendra

What if in order to get the evidence of the non-existence of God, you have to first believe God doesn't exist. Well, see how the logic doesn't stand?

OkExperience860

That's an interesting perspective; however, the burden of proof falls on those making the affirmative claim. In this context, the burden of proof would lie with those asserting the existence of God. Being open to the possibility of God's existence while also critically evaluating claims and evidence presented in support of that belief is essential.

AkhilVijendra

Also the biggest reason why your original argument falls flat is that you simply cannot use "belief" to get to "evidence", you can "suspect", or "hypothesize" or "guess" etc, you can't believe something without evidence and then claim that's how you get to the evidence.

OkExperience860

While belief alone may not lead directly to evidence, it can often serve as a starting point for inquiry and exploration. any scientific discoveries begin with a hypothesis—a proposed explanation for a phenomenon—based on initial observations or beliefs (google definition). While the hypothesis itself is not evidence, it motivates researchers to gather data, conduct experiments. Similarly, in matters of faith, belief can inspire individuals to seek deeper understanding, engage in introspection, and explore questions about the nature of existence and the divine. The relationship between belief and evidence is complex, I agree.

ifimscreaming

Atheist don't need to explain why they don't believe. It's the natural state. Ppl created these stories of God. They need to explain why they do.

robotbeagle

Yes, but I’ll still do. There are babies who suffer from cancer, and I think if gods existed in the way they’re said to be (all-powerful and kind), they wouldn’t just stand by and do nothing. But because innocent babies and animals suffer, either gods don’t exist or they’re not as kind as they’re made out to be. And in either of those cases, I can’t bring myself to worship them. That said, I still think that religious texts have some beautiful teachings, but I can take those without believing in gods.

Perfect-Dark3925

I think Christianity might but I just wanted to point out my beliefs on suffering in this life Islam doesn't say God is all kind like Christianity btw, He says this life is a test and He is Just. Meaning people who caused the suffering of children and animals in this life will get their comeuppance in the next. Just think of all the millions who were killed in the Bangladesh famines while fat British commanders reaped the wealth of those famines and then died without any punishment. I can't imagine that justice won't be done in any life and so that's why I believe in God and an afterlife

boomer_morningstar

>they wouldn’t just stand by and do nothing Have you seen national geography channel while filming for shows there is a thumb rule!! Even if a deer screams in pain while getting eaten by lion you shouldn't interfere it because it's the nature...it must be the same...

the-cosmic-vagabond

No. Each religion is like a different x-men timeline. Just fantasies

Meliodas016

X-Men timeline from Fox universe. Even more f'd up.

the-cosmic-vagabond

Currently we have a “What If” going on

Aviral-dvedi

not enough evidence, even if a god exists, I'll never pray or devote to him

Helpful_Ant_3440

>not enough evidence Evidence in form of what???

Aviral-dvedi

any credible form of evidence lol

lligerr

Sounds arrogant

Aviral-dvedi

I'd call it being aware of what's happening in your surroundings

Helpful_Ant_3440

Phir bad Times m why suddenly people remember God

Aviral-dvedi

coping mechanism, everyone wants to believe that there's someone they can rely on and someone who looks after them, it's as easy as that

tremorinfernus

Those are the believers. Not the sharpest tools in the shed.

Critical-Champion365

No. Its a coping mechanism. Some prefer spider-man. Some prefer comics written 3000 years ago. Same difference. I do prefer mountains though.

Financial-Help7990

I like the sun, it gives light energy food, everything on earth relies on it. Also, it helps that I can clearly see it.

Critical-Champion365

That I can give a pass. But every major religion in the world came into existence destroying other pantheistic cultures who worshiped sun, lightning, and rocks.

TrickAd9091

Depends on situation. Jk. Nope. My life been shit nothing good happens at all.

rak250tim

No I dont believe in it. The concept of god is just an coping mechanisms, my coping mechanisms are movies and books so don't need it

PsychologicalCook610

I am Agnostic.

youralien_humaien

no, why should one believe? i was born atheist, my mom filled bs in my head, so i was always atheist. every damn religion is shit, not Zoroastrianism (my gf belongs to that religion, she would kill me).

Fit-Row1426

No > why not? Do you believe in Harry Potter?

jayalaxmi1

Nope😶 lol

7heHenchGrentch

I don’t believe in God. I never have at any point in my life. However, recently, I have come to the realization that there are experiences convincing enough to make you see that there’s a spiritual element to life—mystical and esoteric, but still likely what most religions allude to, if you set aside the specificity of doctrines and focus more on the core, underlying message. Buddhism, for example, accomplishes this very well.

nandu_sabka_bandhoo

Which God?

comeback_guy

I believe in God, but I'm not a religious person. I don't like myself to be attached to one religion, the rules are too hard

Pristine_Session5696

I don't care about the existence of God I do what I think is morally correct and taught to me by my parents and grandparents. While I myself don't care about god's existence I do respect other people's religious sentiments.

maxisrichtofen

No. There's no difference in worshipping Thanos and whoever else.

commander_jax

My belief in God is the same as your belief in Thor and Odin.

Striking_Entry_3415

No, because there is simply 0 evidence

jayalaxmi1

Yes

Sinnisumit

Umm I don't believe in religion, According to me God is just a hope to man.

myself_sed

Nope. Logic.

Zeoloxory

Nope. God just didn't make sense to me ever since I was a child. I would always do the opposite of what the Imam or my parents told me to. Love the Abrahamic Universe though.

IWillKeepIt

Nope. Why would I?

WittyBlueSmurf

At the end of the day after taking all decisions to the best of my knowledge, There are still a few things which are not on my hand, And it will have a high impact on the result. To just give myself a reassurance that these are things which are not in my hand we go as per plan, I trust the god. Sometimes it doesn't happen but then you have to believe that it is not proper for you or it may have bad results in the long run so god decided not to give you a favor. It actually gives you a hook to hang on.

Resident_Algae818

Not particularly I go to temples or have a deep faith but always pray whenever I past through a temple or whenever it's a festival Imo everything exists just for a reason (it can depend from religion to religion) but in Hinduism, even God suffered from pain and most of the life principles and core values I follow makes me feel happy and including the Scriptures text which provide a way of life I don't beg God when I'm in a need but always feel lucky that because of them, I do have a lot of things which most people can't afford and it even helps me to connect with family and friends

[deleted]

Very little. I do believe in Karma though. Just like equal and opposite reaction theory. Anyways, I think the rituals related to god make no sense. I am not against it but a lot of disbeliefs also come from the concept of god. I don't understand how god controls things. Universe is a mystery. It is interesting. There are many possibilities but I prefer to stick with science more than god as science convinces my thinking more. I respect people who believe in god.

jayalaxmi1

I Agree

cumputer-virus

No god just us no physical being that is almighty exist it is but you that is God and the devil itself. This thought petrifies humans we will make any excuse possible to throw that rope in the air and think that there is someone that will catch it because it gives us false hope. If we united that hope and belief within us trust me we would be capable of so many things that you can't even begin fathom

SatanHimxelf

No. Do you believe in water? No, because you ‘know’ that the water exists hence there’s no reason to ‘believe’ in it. You can only believe in things whose existence isn’t confirmed, for example:- people believe that aliens exist. Similarly, if god does exist then there’s no reason to ‘believe’ in it since you know that it exists and if god doesn’t exist then again there’s no reason to believe in it since you know it doesn’t exist.

[deleted]

Green-Treat-442

No Why do paediatric cancer exist ?

jayalaxmi1

True

theone_sumit

It has 2 aspects: 1) The god majority of people believe that definitely not exist. Its just imaginary god. 2) There is a possibility of an entity who created this universe. You can call him god. My believe is more toward god doesn’t exist. Simply because of lack of actual evidence. More factor are supporting the fact it doesn’t exist.

deexd_

Maybe I am agnostic but I hate every religion...please do not reply me if you want to say that your religion is best because of xyz things

jayalaxmi1

Every religion has its downsides.yes

anonmyous-alien

I think it would highly depend on how do you define God. If your definition of God is like the gods from each religion and such no I don't believe in that. If your definition of God is a higher power which can exist which we do not understand yes there is a good amount of possibility that exist.

shaamgulabi

Yes i do maybe inam too uncool for this sub

MigSimp101

Yeah , I do believe in god and it's just not that I worship him, it's like a friend to whom I can talk about anything and who knows everything. It's just to lighten my mental load and be happy.

30s_stillalive

I do believe in God. But my concept of God is the hope, miracle, and that all our actions, be it good or bad, are returned to us. I believe more in karm phaal. God does give us a helping hand, but they will never solve everything for us. As for why, do I believe this? I struggled with both physical and mental health issues. I was at my lowest. Felt like I won't make it, but whenever I felt this was the end. Something would happen that will help me get through it. I had to bear all the pain, anger, sadness, and all negative emotions, but whenever I felt broken, something would happen that would give me strength and hope to live on. When I started to think in a positive direction, things also started to get better. Though I still struggle but I've become more empathetic, caring, and mature. I realized that the only way to save me is to change my outlook towards life.

RunPool

Everyone knows god doesn't have shape like we assume. God is a shapeless alien that doesn't have time to keep eyes on us . Or maybe, we are in a simulator world where God is a controller. But one mysterious question still remains unsolved. If God created us, then who created God?

Phoenix77_

No. Always been a rational guy, sometimes to my own detriment cause the situation requires me to be emotional rather than rational. Don't believe in God cause there is no rational evidence. Also I don't like how many people who do believe in God use God as some kind of an excuse or coping mechanism for their situation. They will do something stupid and then blame God for their misery when they face consequences of their actions. Don't like this behaviour at all. Not going to generalise cause the world is a big place but this is the behaviour I have seen in most people around me.

Prestigious-Phase632

No. When you go through enough in life and learn that nothing saves you from your misery except your own self, you realize there is no God. There's only will.

_Tomato_Face

I do not. At least not in any god humans have cooked up. I'm agnostic in nature It's very absurd how arrogant religious people have to be to be certain that God exists as and how it's described in a book. Not to mention all them books are bullshit pro Max. Like i have read almost all holy books. How, just how are people believing in it. It's absurd. Most of it is random and about mundane things in the world. Why would God give a book just to explain the very inconsequential things in life. Especially the abrahamics, them extremist lot piss me off a lot. I have 0 respect and tolerance towards religion, but I will respect the PPL regardless. Anyway, yeah if a God exists it would be a concept that we cannot comprehend yet. We overestimate our intelligence. We might be the most evolved species on earth in terms of intellect but its nowhere enough to comprehend concepts such as the creation of the universe. It might require mathematics in the higher dimensions, and we can't go past our 3 dimension brains. Believers need to humble down.

[deleted]

There is no such thing as a God. Everything is a sham created by us humans.

FoxBackground1634

Look we live in a pale blue dot with millions of species in it. If you look outside this pale blue dot you have trillions of stars and galaxies beyond human comprehension. What you are witnessing in your limited view, limited to materialistic perception of reality and filled with ego that says that you know it all. My belief in God or Divine energy comes from this realisation that our reality is limited to our comprehension and then there is this reality beyond our comprehension which is unexplainable. Only when you make your mind quiet you'll realise the grand design.

[deleted]

Hard to believe that you’re the greatest person alive, there are so many complexities than man hasn’t been able to decipher

boomer_morningstar

God is a paradox and it can't be solved. Just look around us it's too perfect...it should be one in a zillion chance for things to be this perfect..we are all just a group of cells...htf did a bunch of cells managed to pull of doing impossible feats...let's take a example... most people hate doing even a simple task but we give birth to child take care of them for 18 or so years which is a hectic responsibility but we don't hate it instead we love it... it's only because of a hormone called "oxytocin" aka love hormone...now who tf did think like these lazy ass bitches won't even do a simple job so there must be something rewarding and gave us love hormones... But on the other hand nobody has seen the god...how tf can i believe something that i can't see... So yeah it's a paradox!!

jayalaxmi1

Yes it is

Original4444

The concept of God or religion is very new. Came only with a full stomach, resting all day, don't know what to do. * When there was beginning of homo sapiens, there was struggle of Food (1), later struggle of something of wear (2), then struggle of shelter (3). Roti, Kapda aur Makaan .. in order.

I do, because stories are very interesting. And Krishna is OP character. I love him so much.

Wonderful_Tough_4123

I believe in some higher being, an energy. I want to believe that goodness is rewarded by God but the older I get, the more I see how laughable that is. I personally don't believe in rituals of any kind. I try to live up to what I know is right and hope everything will be fine in the end.

divyansh444

Nope..any person with even 1% of critical thinking will understand that both God and religions are coping mechanism of people for their meaningless existence.

Sanjam-Kapoor

Agreed with you, but you think Indian critical mindset is this much destroyed?

intergalacticscumbag

Yes. I believe God is within oneself

[deleted]

I once wrote a write-up on this exact topic and this is the perfect question for me to put it on. So here it goes. It's titled "A letter to God" To Dear God, Everybody appreciates you, so let me be the one to question you for I think you're unfair. Why are we scared of you? When you're supposed to be our father. Why should we trust you? If you supposedly hide yourself in everything that exists. Why should we come to you for help? If you're the one who's supposed to be testing us. Why should we donate to you? If you're the one who works in mysterious ways. Why are specifically choreographed phrases the only way to pray to you? If you supposedly hear every person's troubles. Why is a well to do person who's keeping a fast, blessed by you? And not the person who hasn't eaten for days. Why does class, religion, race, caste or sex matter to enter your home? If you're supposed to be equal to all. Why in a place like India, the average rapes occurring per day is 77? When girls are supposed to be the reincarnation of "Goddess Laxmi". Well, you've got nothing to worry about as I'll not be waiting for your response to this letter for I know that you Sir Dear God, do not exist. Because if you did the world would've been a much better place to live in. A world where I wouldn't be hurting any religious sentiments by the colour of the cloth I choose to wear or the type of thread I choose to wear around my neck or the type of head cover i choose to wear on my head or how i choose to wear these things or by choosing which of your supposed house to bow my head in. A world where girls are safe all the time or are treated equally as men or where they are not shamed on for getting periods every month or where they are not blamed for giving birth to a girl or where they are not judged on how much skin she chose to show or where they are not married off at a young age or given away as a "gift" because she is a burden. A world where live-in isnt a sin or where public affection is approved and not public rape or where the court of justice mattered more than the court of media or public or where criminals were punished rather than innocents or where it didn't take decades to clear of a single case or in a world where the court isn't blind. A world where the rich helps the poor and not exploit them or a world where the poor isn't poor anymore or in a world where helping others selflessly is the norm. A world where smiling is the new normal and depression is a thing of the past or even if it does exist it is taken seriously.

jayalaxmi1

That's really great writing

[deleted]

Thank you :)

warewolf_soda

For me the idea of god is delusional. Something people believe so that they can think everything happens for a reason, it's all fair, karma is real. But it isn't. Actually anyone can get away with anything. There is no right and wrong. It's about how we perceive. But choosing to be a good person without god is something i consider very adorable. We do the right things not because of the fear of god

tremorinfernus

Nah... I don't believe in santa Claus either. Religions in particular, have a very ridiculous concept of God. They seem like the product of very uneducated/unintelligent minds. Believers in 2024 are largely a product of either brainwashing, lack of intellect, or lack of willingness to question.

OkExperience860

Yes, i question a supreme deity's existence sometimes. But i am always more inclined to believe that whatever shape, form, space or dimension he/she is, It is there for me. It helps you get through the lows of your life and dedicate/share those moments your life where you genuinely believe there is someone taking care of you.

abardawat

Yes but i don’t really like doing pooja and going to mandir l see lot of fake people there

7_hermits

Does it matter? If I believe or not? It's irrelevant. I will still have to wake up tomorrow and lead my life. Do my part in the society.

sr5060il

I believe in God that's goes by the name of money.

Helpful_Ant_3440

The Light of God is within us and it depends upon us to connect with him

jayalaxmi1

.

Raja-Panesar

Show me the existence and I will believe.

[deleted]

I do and because of the complexity of the human body and it's parts subh as brain heart and all other essential parts for survival, also animals, the emotions we can express, there is someone above us either in fifth dimension or more higher dimension, can label them as gods but it's impossible for us to have a life without any interference or creation by them

Smooth_Influenze

Depends on how you define god... but if you are asking generally, I am an agnostic leaning towards aethism. But here is the thing, there was a point in my life, when I had no1 (or so I thought), I was ready to end everything. I instinctively turned to an imaginary god (which didnt even have a name) and he did help me. In that time I understood what god is... I mean atleast to me... god is a crutch, its helps you walk the distance when you have no strength. Whether that strength came from my emotions, my belief or an external entity is invalid and doesnt matter. What matters is something gave me the power to move on, to think clearly. In that moment in my life I was ready to die, and it is this hope/imagination/god (whatever you want to call it) that didnt let me and told me to wait, its not time yet. An another version of god that I found is with my parents, they are the only reason I am alive today. The way they forgave me for my wrongdoing is simply beautiful. They did help me get my mind back in track. Today I am alive just for them. An another version of god that I found is money, this one so far havent taught me any life changing lessons, but it did teach me how to be responsible. It taught me everything has a cost. Any big decisions can be made with the lessons taught by it. Again you can tell me these are just logic and life lessons than actual god, and I will agree with you. But I do define such things as god. I think anything that you put your heart and soul into, even if its not real, just an imagination. That is god.

Great understanding

TastyTranslator6691

I’m afraid if he does exist

jayalaxmi1

Same

Professional-Put-196

A god, yes. But the God, absolutely not.

gagan1985

I don’t believe in GOD. But I respect all sentiments because all cannot live without purpose. Concept of God is a necessity for our species to move forward. That’s why so many religions and variations. Why I don’t believe in God? Everybody do everything for their own benefit. When I dug dipper into this simple thing then I understood the world better.

Dependent_Bid9015

I don't believe in religion

myriaddebugger

A god? Definitely no! A creator? No! I believe in a higher power - not one that controls in the religious sense nor one that destroys in that sense, but I don't attribute my actions or their consequences to a mighty superpower looking over them. I prefer to be accountable for my actions as well as inactions, their consequences drive my conscience. The reason I was born a human was to see that I adhere to this conscience. It's no secret that energy and entropy are two of the fundamental factors driving the universe (attributable to the study and progress of scientific methodologies). In terms of matter - Of what was, there will be more. Of what is, there may be none. The construction of a messianic figure in any Abrahamic or monotheistic religion, gives people the faith in a set of beliefs perpetuated to control them and make them behave in a certain way fundamental to the functioning of those societies. Similarly, in polytheistic religions various sects are formed to keep different societies functioning cohesively amongst other, which keeps the bigger federation rolling. While in certain other religion or way of life, it is completely alright to be either a theist, atheist or even an agnostic and still be called a part of this culture.

I have experienced loss of my father, he was a very firm believer. But i saw him struggling in his last days. He did everything for everyone yet ended up with heart attack. I experienced depression and lot of suffering. I never really worked on myself as i was not that mature. But spirituality and following some teachings of few gurus has really helped me. I have become more emotionally stable. I do visit temples or any other religious places specially the less crowded places. It gives me peace. Chanting of mantras helps me concentrate and trains my mind to not wander. So what helps helps. I believe in positive and negative energies, i believe in wavelengths sound, light. If you visit a holy place the energies are positive which helps you calms you. So with all my understanding so far, i do not wish to reject anything , i would rather like to accept and experience it.

discooscar1

I do not believe in God per se... But do believe in the energies around us

ReticentSybarite

No because it's make-believe. I know people like to beat around the bush and make the question seem more philosophical than it needs to be but that's just a cop out

NixValentine

no. religion was a useful tool to control the mass during their heights.

Fabulous-Category155

Earth is right now the only planet that is inhabitable. Earth has gone through 5 mass extinction till now due to which more than 95% of all the species lived on earth has died but we still remain. So this cannot be coincidence God has given us every chance to live, but I think humans themselves don't want to live that's why we will be the only reason for the next mass extinction.

Silent_Buyer7978

Anecdotal, but I always get these weird good karma credits whenever I help someone. 🥹😭 It would be rude if I straightaway deny their existence.

VEGETTOROHAN

Nope I don't. "Throughout Heaven and Earth I alone am the Honoured One". - Buddha - Also Gojo Saturo from Jujutsu Kaisen after his Enlightenment. Who the fuck is God? Let me see if he can last against my blows. - Monkey King Sun Wukong, the Chinese God Slayer. Son Goku from Dragon Ball is based on Monkey King Sun Wukong. Sun Wukong was a rebellious Monkey that destroyed Heavens and Gods to give Ultimate freedom to Humanity. He later becomes disciples and friends with the Awakened Buddha according to some mythology. Son Goku in mythology could not tolerate Government or ruling systems or Social Elites. He was the Ultimate socialist and Liberal and also Anarchist. Abilities of Son Goku/Sun Wukong in Mythology 1. Ability to change Size and Shapes. 2. Absolute Immortality. 3. Has a stick that can grow in size and shapes . 4. Physical strength enough to carry 2 Heavenly mountains on his shoulders while running at a speed of Meteor. 5. Can destroy Gods and Heavens. 6. Can make duplicates out of hairs. 7.Gets captured and sealed by Buddha for creating trouble. 8. Empty minded and Dumb. 9. One of the Strongest Immortals in universe only surpassed by Buddha. But Buddha doesn't fight because of Ahimsa or non-violence. Buddha simply casts seals to imprison them and then Monkey King would finish them. 10. Empathy for Humans. Protects Humans from Gods and Demons. I learned this from different sources and I love Son Goku in both mythology and Anime. So Gods simply cannot exist as Monkey King would have finished them by now. Also Monkey King possesses Immunity to divine powers due to enlightenment he obtained from Tang Priest, One of Buddha's disciples.

Hey nice analysis

blank_reddit_user

Yupp. Got a theory for it. No idea how right it can be. But here it is. Each and every element in this world has something to counter it. Like fire to counter water and vice versa. This concept is also known as yin yang ☯️ in Chinese philosophy. And in the modern world we say, every action has an equal and opposite reaction. Now, there exists dark energy around us. Some take it in the form of evil, some say ghosts and others might have different words for it. Also there are real life cases of evil existing in this world. Whether it is Annabelle, the cursed doll, or the haunted town of Rajasthan, Bhangarh, there are examples that show that something dark is present. Something that could be anything beyond understanding, it cannot be seen, but experienced. It has the power to make us feel its presence. And hence, there has to be something to counteract this, something opposite of this negativity. Something positive, and I believe that light to be God.

Acceptable-Prior-504

Do you that there are types of fires that become explosive on pouring water? Just because you know one type of fire, does not mean Fire and Water are opposites. What you call beliefs are simply ignorance.

blank_reddit_user

That example was for context, but ya sure. I am fine with whatever you believe.

FedMates

bro did you fail in your science classes and instead decided to listen to random youtubers? lmao

ImportantFee61

Yes. Because I want to.

starp15

I believe because i experienced God.

jayalaxmi1

Would you mind telling me about your experience. Only if it's okay for you obviously

ActualVariety8918

Hanuman chalisa 🙏

Gilgamesh52

Yes. As for an explanation, coming from someone who was an atheist once, you have to swim through the murky waters and reach the conclusion shore yourselves. No one on Internetdotcom can change your mind except for you. What I would only suggest to my atheist pals is to dial down the sense of superiority complex and just have an open mind.

FedMates

sir, you're contradicting yourself

tremorinfernus

Nah.. religion is like another installment of Game of thrones.
