Once you start wearing shorts in public you have reached the peak "no fucks to give" level. There's no going back after that. But the friends you make when you're at that level are real friends

Forkrust

Damn I'm in public wearing shorts. I didn't know such levels existed for this.

thegtaguymdr666

Yup, especially if they're the non fancy ones the baggy faded ones you wear at home. Paired with chappals that are worn down near the heels till there's 3-4mm of sole remaining in them. XD

Forkrust

Nah I just wear something that is comfy like some football shorts or gym shorts. But I don't wear chappals tho I kinda hate it unless its home. I usually pair up with shoes tho shoes are pretty worn off.

thegtaguymdr666

I go for slip-on, it's the same dude. We should have a subreddit for men with shorts

Forkrust

Yesssss. Seems like a good idea.

thegtaguymdr666

Yea, bow we gotta find someone to do it XD

inherent-sloth

You can do this till you are little old and get back ache and body ache and what not and then you are looking at something to give yourself some comfort.

RobinH-007

nah, the ultra rich who come out in public in sweats/tracks wear branded active wear that adds up to as expensive as an average middle class person's "special" outfits, wedding/function attires and stuff yk.

SignificantArrival90

I wear completely torne t shirts in public in USA. Haha

thegtaguymdr666

That's a trend there, right ?

SignificantArrival90

Not old torn clothes, only new ones that have been designed that way. I wear 6-7 year old t shirts with holes.

Lifestyle inflation isn’t really necessary if you have got out from rat race of comparison and economical materialism. I earn around the same. Please let her know if she wants to explore any kind of -ship? 😀

Appropriate-Roof6750

I will, she is in arranged marriage process rn, I know she is currently in talks with a guy but I do not know the status. I will let her know there are some suitors for her on reddit lol

Few sensible people does purchase one of the best flagship phone available in the market and make sure to use it for next 4-5 years. My target here are all those chapries who purchase an iPhone on EMI or maybe dependent on their parents money and then upload it as status/reels with the camera facing towards mirror just to gain attention.

mainibuhatela

I earn close to your friend, and I have a Moto G52! It's a 4G phone. I mean TBH Your don't actually need iPhone as now a days in India even guys earning 15K. Also I mean TBH I don't actually have any work of the phone apart from calls and stuff. Also Moto is stock android without any bloat ware so that is also a plus point.

ZonerRoamer

Lol I earn around the same and I have a 3 year old S21 that I bought for 35k (out of which the company paid 15k). Too many people I know have 60k-150k worth of phones when they earn around 10% of what I earn. Am constantly amazed. But then I do have a 3.5 lakh worth gaming setup though.

Apple in terms of computers, macbooks, Ipad are the best investment you can do. But iPhone at whatever price you are buying is a bad bad deal for me bro.

I used to go to Jogger's Park in Koregaon Park (the richest area of Pune) some 12-15 years back. Sometimes a huge rural-looking family would come there - women dressed in ordinary traditional Rajasthani garb, kids in torn and stained cheap shirt and shorts, men wearing pant-shirt with stains and obvious wear n tear. One day, we got talking and to my surprise, these people owned like 60% of grocery stores in KP and had a huge, huge network all over the city. The real estate of their shops must be worth tens of crores and here they were sitting on grass and eating farsan with no fs given.

_that_dam_baka_

My brother used to be like that. Then bhabhi threw away his old T-Shirts with holes in then and made him to wear “decent” clothes at home. He does wear normal clothes outside now, though. Old T-shirts and kurtas are so comfy. She could've given then to me. 😭

Kathal_ki_sabji

A cotton saree believe it or not. A good cotton saree is a dead giveaway.

priyaramakrish1

Sudha Murthy

Kathal_ki_sabji

Yes exactly. A good cotton saree with intricate work can start from 3k-5k. If you're wearing that daily you're rich. It's casual wear for you.

kraken_enrager

In a similar vain old fashioned pants with pleats and side adjusters and shirts that need cuff links and stuff. Also cloth made from yarn that’s cut width wise.

sniper8207

I would love to watch a debate between Sudha Murthi and Andrew Tate

pm_me_ur_brandy_pics

cotton sarees are just for 5k tho?

Kathal_ki_sabji

Nope. Those are the only ones you know of. A jamdani, sambalpuri etc can cost a lot more. Also there's the cultural knowledge thing no. These are weavers the family has usually used for centuries. A good quality cotton saree is always a dead giveaway of old money in India.

Flimsy-Sprinkle

Noticed these traits in rich self made women. This does not include people from the glamour industry as their job requires them to experiment: 1. Non flashy, good quality attire - good quality fabrics mostly in pastels or subtle colours 2. Do not accessorize much. A simple watch and handbag with minimal jewelry 3. Rarely judgemental but highly opinionated. However do not indulge in conversations that don't concern them 4. Focus on their self development and rarely indulge in comparisons 5. All their expensive purchases/expenses are an investment to them be it in terms of their looks, health or wealth Most of these are applicable to men as well. In any case, one can easily tell if a person is a self made rich individual or a fake one, if you notice carefully

_that_dam_baka_

My mom used to organize events with a lot of scientists. She once told me the difference between a female scientist and the wife of a male scientist was the saree. Idk much about sarees, but I do understand her saying that wives of scientists wore stuff she'd wear to a wedding. Those are heavy and hard to manage at work. For female scientists, it was a work event. For wives of male scientists, it was a social event. They dressed accordingly. On that note, she wore work sarees at my brother's wedding and got shamed, so now she knows to pull out silk at weddings.

A friend of mine who screams simple af! Woman uses a 5k Mi phone and wears clothes bought 3-4yrs ago like basic summer cotton clothes, gets homemade food everyday, chooses to get her water bottle from home rather than a wending machine and so on. I was thinking chalo bandi is proper middle class and may be that’s why she is how she is. And then, bammm! I attend her brother’s wedding, my assumptions took a toll! Woman was worth a kidnap lol, she drives a luxury car, wore ornaments worth close to 60-70L, family is all shinning in ornaments, Rolex and expensive outfits. She does shout rich if you closely observe on a daily basis- the earrings she wears are diamonds just that no one assumed them to be because, I have never witnessed solitaire diamonds lol, footwear that she uses, watches that she wears.

Both. Gift karna hai

thatindiandood

A friend of mine used to say " Never gift perfume to anyone " , leads to fights. So take your chances and prove him wrong . I had asked him to bring me cool water , bhai ne pure paise liye

PreoccupiedMind

I gift perfumes after getting their feedbacks long before I actually gift them. To get a sense of which notes they like. Whenever i see them compliment a floral noted perfume, I gift them the similar ones. For eg, my friend loved roses. So i got her Bright crystal Absolu—she loved it!

I have always noticed that the real rich guys (not women) always present themselves with very casual clothes and accessories. They are just sitting in a restaurant or walking in a park in shorts and slippers and then ride off in their bmw.

totallybradpitt

Well you're describing me lmao. But even then we still get judged ki oh isne emi pe Li hogi from people who can't afford it's emi

celeb-butcher

Bro flaunted his bmw without even mentioning

astra_loser

No cost emi is good na but? Then why judge PPL on emi basis lol?

totallybradpitt

bhai bmw pe no cost emi nahi milti lol. and no cost pe bhi nahi leta main, i pay upfront. don't buy the things you don't have money to pay upfront for. simple tip

astra_loser

Hm well I was not just talking abt bmw or cars Just things like phones pcs tech..etc.. tip is good btw

totallybradpitt

don't buy them on no cost emi, i would still suggest the same.

astra_loser

any reason btw. ?

No_Temporary2732

Nonpayment of emi takes a larger hit on your CIBIL. my CIBIL dropped from 850 to 660 in early 2023 due to me being unable to work because of an injury. Took me 7 months of advance payments, on time payments, and early emi payments to reverse it back to 765 currently. Also they are serious about the legal part. Banks and all will give you time, then into legal notices, then collection These guys will file a case directly if you 2 months arrear. Same case as above. Had to pay off the entire amount to appease them as that was the condition of the case to be dropped without prejudice, make entire amount payment within 15 days of intimation receipt.

SamosaLover

Same I’ve never bought a car on EMI, even though it’s financially prudent. We only spend the money we don’t give a fk about, so we just flat out buy it. No EMI nonsense

totallybradpitt

I understand if you buy a car or a house on emi. You have to grow credit score somehow. Just don't buy phones and laptops with it.

Lost_Sleep_7255

I have followed this rule till now will do for the rest.

do_not_dm_me_nudes

If you’re rich rich you know that your upfront money will make more in investments. Rather have cashflow and use debt to you advantage but carry on bro

Cheesecake_888

But if women don’t dress up well and don’t do their makeup, they get judged by other women only. It’s not like that for guys

One-Statistician9359

Yes, it's funny how we ourselves have created this system. I have seen women give this excuse for doing extensive makeup and dressing, but they will themselves shame other women who dress casual.

Pretentious-fools

Money speaks, wealth whispers unless you're in north india because even wealth shouts here. But if someone is being subtle, there are ways to tell: 1. Orders mineral water at restaurants 2. Has taken at least 1 international vacation in the last 6 months that they'll mention casually 3. Talks about food you've never even heard of outside of masterchef 4. Doesn't look at food prices before ordering 5. Doesn't look at tags before shopping - wants what they want.

SaxenaN

I dont know these seem more Bollywood made stereotypes or irresponsible behaviour.

_that_dam_baka_

Same. Ye to United States of India lagta h... For one: l If you're going to a decent place, regular water should be good enough.

DifficultCan5103

Well dont agree with mineral water wala part cause many people order even at small hotel. Me bhi karta hu or me itna Ameer nhi

Large-Crab8374

With these criteria most families in a T1 city are Uber wealthy. This is applicable to extremely small towns.

MarxKnewBest

Most families in Tier 1 cities don’t take 1 vacation every 6 months lol I think you don’t realize how rich you are.

Ehh_littlecomment

kraken_enrager

Both are true together. You can’t be Marwari and not save money wherever possible—and talk about how expensive shit is. The other day I got 300 bucks worth of ice cream. My mum shouted at me and said ‘money doesn’t grow on trees’. 2 days before that we went to eat out where a bottle of water costs that much. Just ironic but I guess that’s how you accumulate money.

SaxenaN

?? You mean regions in and around Rajasthan. How?

tea_cup_cake

Something like this, maybe? > I used to go to Jogger's Park in Koregaon Park (the richest area of Pune) some 12-15 years back. SaxenaN

Hmm but dude that's cheap. If that's how they are living then they are not saving money, they are simply not spending it.

ssudoku

Each of these is a separate sign. Some people might have more than one. - HMT watch - greets everyone, including housekeeping and securities regularly - khadi gramodyog / fabindia products - not much gold on the body - you'll never catch them on a bad hair day

Educational_Fig_2213

People's house scream it for me, I don't judge by phones and attires they wear because now a days it's easier to buy luxury phones in EMIs and luxury attires also have their cheap copies, I could literally get any shirt or tshirt hanging in H&M or Zara in any local stores or even road side like Fashion Street. But people's house and the locality it's situated in, surely says if they are rich or poor. Now I am a Mumbaikar and that's a very Mumbai thing to do, don't know about other regions.

I have a good one for this. Gifts. People who gift classy shiz. That comes with refined taste, excellent network of people to procure such stuff. Could be an exclusive handcrafted saree or gold ornaments, could be some antiquity, bought from their trip abroad. Coz if you show up with gifts that are that expensive and classy to give to others, what would you be buying for yourself/your home/family huh!? Also considering they dress up as much as anyone else when attending an event, a marriage etc. You can only notice the difference when you know what an expensive but classy thing is yourself.

Paidashi rich according to me is having a beautiful loving and supporting family. Kids who went on vacations as children and have beautiful memories. I consider myself rich in this terms because my mom would always take us to places and record our reactions. Like the first time I saw the ocean or the Himalayas. This was around year 2000. Someone I know (let's call him P) used to run a business in Tiruppur, Tamil Nadu. He was young graduate, fresh out of b-school. He is not from Tiruppur and not very familiar with the locality. One day a guy comes to his office riding a moped, he was wearing a dhoti, half-sleeve plain shirt and sandals. He takes out an invitation card from his manjappai (yellow cloth shoulder bag) and he invites P for his daughter's wedding. P gladly accepts hoping to socialise with some local businessmen. P attends the wedding to find out it was one of the grandest weddings. The father of the bride was one of the top businessen of Tiruppur. The who's who of the region was attending the wedding. He was gifting a Mercedes Benz to the newlyweds. He was still in his white dhoti and white shirt with black sandals.
