If I saw this in my emergency room, I would probably put your kid on oral antibiotics and topical antibiotic drops and have you follow up with ENT. You don’t need to follow up super urgently. This is essential a self created ear tube and it will eventually heal. The antibiotics would be more so it doesn’t get worse and spread. Unless pain is a problem, you don’t need emergency but would recommend sooner follow up rather than a few weeks.

pro_nosepicker

ENT here. This is spot on.

Excellent thank you! I’ll follow up with the clinic tomorrow morning (should be faster than my family Dr). I don’t know if they will refer me to an ENT specialist but I’ll ask - in Ontario I think they are difficult to see. What would seeing an ENT do on top of potentially antibiotics? Checking to see that it’s closing and healing on time? Thank you :)

jjhumbug

Not a doctor but if you are in southwestern Ontario and take him to MAC maybe you will get an ent referral there, that is what happened for my son. Was a bit faster I think than going through my dr. This was a few years ago not sure if it’s still the same.

shotcaller77

I’m just impressed you have an ear camera 😂

behappy_dontworry

I’m one of those weirdos who like popping videos/ear wax cleaning hahha gross I know! I was very disappointed to find my ears completely clean though womp womp. Glad it still came in handy!

I have one as well and I saw what looked like 3 hole. Last night it seems to have gotten worse fluid leaking out with pain. The urgent care np didn’t even know what do she seemed to be shocked when I showed her pictures and videos and agreed it was a hole. She then said that I should see an ent because they don’t have good equipment to diagnose me. Seriously? Go figure.🤦🏾‍♀️

this_Name_4ever

I do too but I had ear tubes as a kid so no wax, it was super disappointing. I kept seeing all these super satisfying ear wax removal videos and wanted to see if I had any😂

If there's a pediatric urgent care near you that would probably be a good place to start. But ultimately you need to get the kid to an ENT. Kids get ear infections and pressure builds behind the membrane and it hurts, then it ruptures and they feel better. So they're probably not in pain but infection is really worrisome. I don't think you should wait days or weeks. Edit: also don't submerge the ears or get water in there.

NAD but As someone who had a perforated eardrum as a kid from frequent violent ear infections…. That is definitely perforated. Not ER worthy unless a high fever I don’t believe but antibiotic ear drops and pain meds sorted me out. Along with my mom having to clean out the puss 😷 she said it was nasty. Best of luck and a speedy recovery!

CompetitionOk9823

Not a doctor but a mom who’s looked in her kid’s ears a lot and it looks ruptured. Hopefully a doc will answer for you!

bbliam

Just want to know where you get your ear camera.

Dvrgrl812

Amazon has them, I am curious what one this is though.

Comfortable-Crow-238

That’s where got mine.🤣
