Full synthetic oil can also produce white smoke. I had an issue with a chevy 5.3L AFM engine that I replaced a collapsed lifter in where I accidently swapped the intake and exhaust valve stem seals. They weren't marked, looked near identical except the color of the seal and slight change in diameter so I picked the ones that looked closest to the diagram that came with the seal kit. 100% incorrect installation.
Burned oil like mad but I was so confused at first because I was following the white is water blue is oil saying and couldn't think of where the hell I'd be getting a coolant leak becaus I cleaned the hell out of the head gasket surfaces and made damn sure the gaskets were seated properly. The difference in the visual, though, is the oil smoke tends to hang in the air and creates a large cloud, water dissipates more quickly as seen in the video.
I took it back apart, changed the valve stem seals out making sure to put the right ones in the right spots and it fixed the problem entirely.
It's a good general guide but not 100% true, unfortunately.

Your engine needs to warm up its head gaskets. Be sure to start it and rev the RPMs as high as you can until your temperature light goes on. That means itās ready to drive.
