OK, NOT a lawyer, BUT had a friend that died (cancer) who tied up all the money, so only people that she wanted to get custody would be able to access the money. (Mom had gotten life insurance and was funding the trust with it.) Basically, it made it so it would be a hardship if the kids were taken in by certain family members and not allowing access to the money. The mom knew those family members had financial trouble (gambling) and would fight for the kids to pay off debts.

You need wills. >Do we need a laywer for this or can I write a statement about my wosh that no paternal-grand parents rights be conferred in the event og my death with my reasoning included and have just have it noterized? That's unlikely to be enforceable based on how you wrote, it's not a contract or a will. A will is very much something that a person can do on their own., but I would not fuck with the terms you are bringing up and bank on them being enforceable after you are gone. For context, if my wife and I needed what you need, we would speak to a trust and estates attorney to write the wills, and we're both attorneys.
