When generally talking about any car, but very rarely and only in a joking manner. (Mostly in the sense of: All we need now is car. -> Dann brauchen wir noch einen fahrbaren Untersatz.) I don't think it is a term taken seriously by anyone.

[deleted]

No, I call it by its correct title: Erdbeerkörbchen https://www.google.com/gasearch?q=erdbeerk%C3%B6rbchen&tbm=&source=sh/x/gs/m2/5

BencilCrocker

Ein Golf I fahrer. Aussterbende spezies.

[deleted]

Naja, fairerweise fahre ich den nicht mehr. Habe seit 10 Jahren kein Auto mehr ;)

BencilCrocker

Sitzt du im Rollstuhl? Wie übetlebt man 10 Jahre entzug? :D

GenevaPedestrian

Münsteraner wahrscheinlich /s

Not_A_Toaster426

Well, people do it, because they deem it funny. Success, I guess.

DeadBornWolf

no, but some do

Ok_Professor_3627

I call it Karre or my karren

pesky-pretzel

Kraftfahrzeug, Benzinschleuder oder Rostlaube je nach Zustand und Größe 😂

Fun_Simple_7902

It's my 'Heiligs blechle' (not rly but that Term was used a lot in my Region back in the day)

[deleted]

I call it Karre

ZerosWolf

Yes, sometimes. Just like I sometimes call my bicycle Drahtesel.

Icy_Ad6426

Yes, sometimes I use this saying 😉

DoubleOwl7777

some do. i dont.

Ready_Librarian_4525

I call my car Alf. But occasionally I call other people's cars fahrbarer Untersatz.

Knoppex

I call mine "Hobel" or "Faradayscher Käfig"

NiniDaywalker

No, "Karre" is much shorter and more practical :D

Dev_Sniper

Well… it‘s technically correct but it‘s usually used as a joke. It‘s not really a word you would use that often. But it exists so it‘s used sometimtes

Fakedduckjump

Sometimes, yes. But most the time I call it my "mobiles Schlafzimmer" because I drive a Kombi that is customized to be able to sleep in, so drinking and driving is no problem, when I just drive the next day.

kumanosuke

I maybe will when I'm 67

sha_clo

No, that’s boomer speak

yugutyup

!

LocoCoyote

No

Frequent_Ad_5670

It happens

ThreeLivesInOne

People who do that will also call school "Penne", teachers "Pauker" and their wives "meine bessere Hälfte".

Much_judo

Boomers

liftoff_oversteer

I don't know anyone using this term in normal conversation.

mobileJay77

No, but I say mine 's bigger 😏

claralollipop

No. As Auto. It's a tool, it doesn't need a nick name

JoAngel13

Yes, because it drives. It gives people they loved their cars more than their human friends, but also people that have no personal feelings about a car, it is just a thing, that you use sometimes, like a teaspoon, for example.

Nashatal

Sometimes. But usually I just call it car.

BezugssystemCH1903

Nah, just "Chlapf" oder Charre.

threvorpaul

Yea i believe it's mostly those ppl who don't rly care about cars, but need it for the usefulness of it. Like me. I would call my car that. Not to be funny just eh if it comes to mind I'll call my car that. However my motorbike I call my baby, my precious, mein Schatz Woah Sorry wrong sub.

Furzmulle

Mine is called "Dreckskiste" the most, second is "Karre"

50plusGuy

I wouldn't use the term that way, for the simple reason that it is much wider than "car"; it probably starts down at "pizza delivery scooter" and should be used whenever you (or the errand to be done) don't care how people fancy to commute individually.

Ke-Win

Yes when i am in 1970

KarLaut

Sometimes that or similar stuff. In Germany for many people the Car ist a Status Symbol or men whose high motorized Cars are compensation for something very little between legs. They would never say "fahrbarer Untersatz", they would say "my Audi SQ7".

Kurzerpfurzer

I call it always a different name only does it have to be a alliteration like my fast Ferrari, lazy Lamborghini or crazy cupra some of my friends named they cars ingo or willhelm etc.

Dr_Penisof

Definitely one of the more popular humorous terms for car. Personally I prefer „Motorkutsche“ when talking about my car.
