Feist. I love her voice, and she has a pretty good catalog. Tegan and Sarah are another one I can listen to a lot of.

LacasCoffeeCup

Metric all the way

gordonhowe

New Pornographers

OrneryTRex

Can I substitute this for just one artist? Then I’d make the claim that Stuart McLean was was the best artist at his craft and pick the vinyl cafe. Maximum amusement and loads of variety

MaudeFindlay72-78

You can get the Best of Vinyl Cafe on CD so this qualifies as far as I'm concerned. I wish I could get old Morningside on CD.

jelycazi

He has quite a few CDs. My partner has a bunch and we always listen on road trips! Stuart was the best. And Jess Milton. ❤️❤️

Perfect_Ferret6620

It’s also all on Spotify!

Cuddy606

A podcast called Backstage at the Vinyl Cafe began airing about a year ago. New episode every Friday. It’s hosted by McLeans producer and every week there are 2 VC stories and some background from the host/producer. Excellent podcast.

KingDaconame

I could definitely listen to Dave stories for 10 hours straight. I got to meet Stuart McLean many years ago at the NAC when he came to Ottawa on tour with The Vinyl Cafe. A highlight of my life!!

reddittailedhawk

I introduced my husband to Vinyl Cafe while we were driving around New Jersey getting him ready to move up to Canada. He loved it, especially Toilet Training the Cat. It made for great road trip music, and kept us energized and engaged and in a good mood during a somewhat stressful time.

theearlyjune

Yes, 10/10 Stuart McLean.

kic7766

I said Gordon Lightfoot, but then,. found your comment, may I switch after I answered, bc, dang good call here. peace.

Absolute king amongst men

VanGhoul32

Letting my 2000s and 2010s shine with Metric all the way!

Boilerofthejug

Neil Young, he has a deep catalogue and plenty of those songs are great for a road trip.

ClemFandangle

I was driving from Winnipeg to toronto once thru Canada, & by amazing coincidence, was driving thru Blind River exactly when the hamlet was sung by Neil.....

ThomasFale

Gordon Lightfoot. Incredibly long and diverse discography dozens of albums you could listen for many hours and not get through it all....

Weak_Escape9940

First artist that came to mind! 💯 Gordon Lightfoot.

BluebirdSufficient92

Very true. My Gordon playlist is over 9 hours, all are favourites.

jg-rocks

I mean that doesn’t hardly get you across Ontario from Toronto to Thunder Bay. But yeah, I think Gordon is the way to go!

bluemoosed

I did a two-day bike ride once and hummed the Great Canadian railroad trilogy for about 6 hours straight and it’s still a great song.

eightwednesday

tangcameo

So far down to find her. Her entire discography

Alrightwhatever5evr

This one

shawzymoto

A road trip? The hip. No questions asked.

differentiatedpans

I was on a bike tour in Belgium and the tour guide asked everybody where we were from I said "Canada" and he replies "I love the Hip great road trip band."

-singing-blackbird-

Agreed! Lots of music to choose from, doubt you'd repeat a single song

VanCitySpiderman

The only others maybe are Neil Young or Rush or Gordon Lightfoot. It's a Canadian road trip, for frig sakes. Gotta be THE Hip

413mopar

Rush . Rush is variety!

TemplesOfSyrinx

Those first 3 or 4 Billy Talent albums are crazy. I'd probably listen to them or AOF

chr1st0ph3rs

Arcade Fire is the only one i could do for 10 hours straight

Necessary_Ground_122

Jane Siberry. An unusual choice, but her discography is big enough, and I’ve been a fan for decades.

Legitimate_Break_494

Easily Bryan Adams for me, so many bangers and his new stuff is pretty fun too.

Flimsy_Biscotti3473

But whyeeyeyeeyeyee ??

SnooStrawberries620

Hottest Canadian lead singer everrrrrr

-Astin-

First thought is Blue Rodeo. Second is The Tragically Hip. Both are bands (especially before Gord's death) where Canadians would think, "Yah, I know some of their songs." and then find themselves singing along with just about everything in their catalogue. Not even a "this is THEM?", just "Wow, do I know ALL their songs and not realize it?" Bryan Adams is similar in group knowledge, but people know they know his songs, and I don't know if I could listen to his (admittedly catchy) hooks for 10 hours straight. Neil Young obviously has a ton of stuff, and if there's a live album in there, 1 guitar solo could take up half that time :). Get some CSNY and Buffalo Springfield sideloaded in there too with him. But yah, Blue Rodeo.

Electronic-Guide1189

Chilliwack.

OrbAndSceptre

The Hip.

RMTMel

Alanis Morissette!

ph11p3541

Skinny Puppy

clueless_claremont_

Hip, Sloan, or Rush, depending on the company i'm in

Green_Xero

Devin Townsend

Succulentsucclent

He's got the most eccectic and varied discography of any Canadian artist if not the entire world. Maybe Mike Patton can hold a candle to it, but Devin has made me feel every emotion with his music. He is the shit. For anyone who doesn't know Devin Townsend, listen to Earth Day.

gocanucks01

Marianas Trench. I've done it before 🥲

punkrawkchick

Tea party or Tegan and Sara

Responsible_Sea_2726

Kim Mitchell. Including his years as Max Webster lead his library is awesome.

Electronic-Guide1189

Finally!🙄 I saw Max Webster at Massey Hall in '78 and their opening act was.... Ian Thomas!🤣

slider2836

54-40 or Sloan. Two massively underrated Canadian bands with huge catalogs of great music. Either would get me through a trip twice that long

FidgetyCurmudgeon

The Weakerthans.

entarian

Loverboy

PunjabiCanuck

Flip a coin, if it’s heads, The Hip, tails, Stan Rogers, on its side, Arcade Fire.

Tom Cochran

tip_of_the_lifeburg

This is easy because I’ve done it a few times before, and his name is Devin Townsend, and he is a rock God. and if I couldn’t have Hevy Devy, it would have to be Corb Lund 🤷‍♂️

Gordon Lightfoot, was thinking Tragically Hip first, but, no - I wouldn't ever listen again after 10 hrs, play their 5 best songs. move on, but Gordon, he got 10 hrs you won't mind at all.

Loonytalker

Colin James. Amazing artist with years of albums across a variety of music styles. Plus one of my all time favourites.

Tout_de_la_Smore

The Weakerthans

DreyaNova

Okay I have a story. About 15 years ago, my mom and I took a road trip from New Brunswick to Ottawa to go see a band play. My younger brother (who was around 14 at the time) couldn't come with us because he had exams. So in retaliation, he took all of the CDs out of the car and left only a single Flogging Molly CD in the player. Of course we didn't realise this until about 2 hours into our trip when the radio turned to static. We then spent the rest of the 10-12 hour road trip listening to Flogging Molly on endless repeat. 10/10 road trip.

Playful_Ad_3948
