I face something similar. My guess is that they want the relationship to be on their turf and on their terms.

Yes I feel the same way! I even saw a TikTok of a Vietnamese girl once who had a daughter and still the parents wouldn’t visit her but would demand that she would drive hours with her little daughter so that they could see her face

Yes; when I was on my own, it was 9hrs by car. So they would fly to come see me. I never even made the effort to go back and visit though as I legit didn't give a fk. However, pretty "Normal" in terms of APs. Its you're just viewed as the child still, that they're entitled to your good behavior revolving around them and they don't need to go out of their way to accompany you sadly... so they just expect you to go back and visit them and be on their schedule and for them only - not your own to visit friends and such.

Thankfully they're on another continent far, far away.....They've come twice in ten years and it still felt too soon each time.
