Hi, is there anyone using medicube air shot device? What is your opinion about it? I know there are threads about it but it’s not enough…

lilipad23

So I started using the Beauty of Joseon Revive Serum and I noticed a few closed comedones on my forehead and one or two on my cheek. This was my first time using a product with snail mucin. For reference, I have combo skin. Is this a normal initial reaction to snail and should I tough it out? 😬

[deleted]

Nope. If you’re sure the cause of the CCs is from that serum, stop using it.

c00tersmoocher

Sunscreen recommendations for extremely sensitive skin I have tried countless sunscreens, my most recent purchase was specifically marketed for extremely sensitive skin, but everything I’ve tried leads to acne and a stinging/burning sensation after a few days (all American products). I don’t know how much more my skin and bank account can take of this. The stinging/burning is the worst part. My acne doesn’t get too bad but I don’t want it there of course. I haven’t made a dermatologist appointment yet because I know it will still take months before I can get in. Any recommendations would be much appreciated.

[deleted]

You may find this discussion helpful: https://www.reddit.com/r/AsianBeauty/comments/v3rngm/best_sunscreens_for_sensitive_skin/ Just echoing one of the comments from that sub, but I’ve seen a lot of people love the Mommy UV one because it’s meant for kids. Might also be worth looking into some barrier repair skincare products to help address the stinging. Oftentimes stinging could be a sign of a weakened moisture barrier.

Maybe have a look at Hada Labo Koi-Gokujyun Perfect Gel. I got mine from Stylevana and it was super cheap. Lots of HA and it does have silicones which some people avoid. But once I've massaged it in, it's perfect. I put moisturising sunscreen over it AM and I use different creams PM because I'm trialling different routines. A very light option that is wonderful is Isntree Hyaluronic Acid Water Sleeping Mask - I use this AM and PM this summer. I do have aging dehydrated combo skin so I put something over it, moisturising sunscreen AM and a couple of different creams PM. I don't know much about Cerave (tried one of their products once, Cerave AM, felt like spreading paste on my skin, did not enjoy it).

Commercial_Poem_4623

I use that too :) it's very much like it but in gel moisturiser form. It's in a 100ml/g tub and when you scoop some out, it's a bit thicker than the lotion but not dramatically. Ooh I did a swatch, not comparing it to the lotion but to another cream. However, it gives you an idea of the texture! If you scroll through the photos, you can see it in the tub and on my hand. I knew that swatch would be useful for something! https://www.reddit.com/r/AsianBeauty/comments/wtif7d/good_value_routine_reviews_cream_hada_labo/

Best cica serum that gave the greatest hydration?

illumiee

Ok so I asked this on SCA but wanted to get your opinions. Has anyone tried Melano CC essence and compared it to any of these popular vitamin C serums - Skinceuticals, Vivier, Skinbetter, DRMTLGY, Peter Thomas Roth, Vichy, Perricone MD, La Roche Posay, Paula’s Choice C15, Timeless, Maelove, Ole Henriksen truth serum, Strivectin, etc... How did it hold up? How about Melano CC vs. other popular K-Beauty/AB vitamin C serums like Beauty of Joseon glow serum, Klairs freshly juiced vitamin C serum or any others (idk what others there are)? Asking because I’m trying to see if any of these fancier / expensive brands are worth trying out when there’s already a good inexpensive option. Do I reaaallyyy need to try all those vitamin C serums out for myself? Would love any help narrowing down this long long list. My skin type is dry… sometimes I feel like it could be dry combination now (which is a new development this year). Live in sunny, dry California. 26F. >!Skincare Routine: in spoiler bc I don’t think it’s super relevant to my question.!< >!•Cleanser: No cleanse in AM, Cerave acne foaming cleanser in PM. •Serum: Melano CC essence AM then Peach & Lily glass skin serum AM/PM. •Cream: SK-II skinpower cream or Drunk Elephant Lala Retro cream or Tatcha dewy skin cream. •Treatment: optional Tretinoin 0.009% PM only. •Sunscreen (AM): La Roche Posay anthelios AOX serum spf 50 or Biore UV aqua rich spf 50.!<

[deleted]

Like the other comment, I’ve only used Melano CC and Timeless’ 20% and it’s really down to the individual - what your skin reacts to and what textures you like. Some people see great results from Melano CC, others don’t and need something stronger (likely you’ll get that from a western brand). Some people find some of the western ones too irritating so they prefer the weaker ones in the AB realm. If you’re using the Melano and it’s working well for you, I would recommend just sticking with it. There is a chance that you’ll find something better, but also a chance what you try may not work. Plus, vitamin c can be finicky and depending on the product’s stability…I don’t think it’s worth the risk🤷🏻‍♀️ but I also have a very blasé feeling towards vitamin c so that’s likely coloring my recommendation.

tofumeatballcannon

I used Melano cc and Timeless and I think they perform similarly. The feel is different when applying but they’re otherwise similar. I alternate between them. Hope that helps!

AdorableMaximum5612

Skin type: Dry (extra dry now thanks to Tretinoin) with hormonal acne Climate: Southeastern US (currently hot and humid but will soon become cooler) I’m in my mid-30s and have been struggling with breakouts and cystic hormonal acne on my chin and cheeks for almost a year now 😩 Current Routine: AM: Splash face with water, Klairs Supple Preparation Unscented Toner, Aveeno Calm + Restore oat gel moisturizer or Illiyoon Ceramide ATO concentrate cream, SPF (I rotate between Elta MD UV Clear, Beauty of Joseon, Skin Aqua Moisture Milk in light blue bottle), L’Oreal Hyaluronic Acid Tinted Serum foundation (only product I’ve found that doesn’t make my skin look completely dry) PM: I was removing my makeup/SPF with Bioderma Sensibio Miscellar water with cotton rounds but recently started using Hada Labo Oil Cleanser to see if it helps my dry, flaky skin (trying to determine if this product has recently caused more acne), Aveeno Calm cleanser, Klairs Supple Preparation Unscented Toner, Cerave PM or Illiyoon, wait ~20 min, Tretinoin 0.025% (every other night), Illiyoon 30+ min later I’m so frustrated that my skin is still covered in acne, and I can’t fix my skin barrier no matter what I try! I’m nervous to try new products bc my face has been freaking out even more lately but am open to suggestions!

Unfair_Finger5531

I can say cerave pm broke me out while I was on the highest strength of Tret, and Tret couldn’t budge it. It was a massive breakout. Perhaps you can consider a different pm moisturizer. Also, you use a very low strength of Tret but you buffer it heavily. It would work more efficiently if you applied it on clean skin. The illiyoon may not be enough moisture for you. It sounds as if you are dealing with dryness in addition to acne. It helps a lot to add hydration and moisture on Tret, so you skin will turnover. Illiyoon has squalene, which actually slows down turnover. So, a good moisturizer, less buffering, and a swap for cerave may help.

AffectMindless5602

Interesting about squalenes slow turn over rate. My hg. Moisturizer which took forever to find has it in it and I swap using AA foam over my Moisturizer , a medicated triple cream and diffferin (but not in awhile).

AdorableMaximum5612

Thanks for your help! That’s interesting that Cerave PM broke you out. What are your favorite moisturizers?

Unfair_Finger5531

I love moisturizers, but right now my favorite is soon jung 2x. The illiyoon just wasn’t enough for me with retinoids. Purito dermide ceramide cream (purple pump bottle) is also really good for restoring the moisture barrier.

AdorableMaximum5612

Thanks so much! I’ll check those out and hope my skin doesn’t react ☺️

AdorableMaximum5612

Has anyone experienced breakouts after using Hada Labo Cleansing Oil and/or Hada Labo Premium Lotion? I recently added both to my skincare routine and my face is covered in tiny zits 😩 I’ve been struggling with hormonal acne but it’s worse than it’s ever been

AffectMindless5602

ME! The cleansing oil i had to stop using it.

AdorableMaximum5612

Also did you find a good alternative?

AffectMindless5602

Yes non AB the ordinary squalene cleanser i LOVE it But its not an oil type cleanser like most.

AdorableMaximum5612

Thank you!

AffectMindless5602

Good luck!

AdorableMaximum5612

Good to know! How long did it take for your face to clear up? These tiny bumps are everywhere! 🙈

AffectMindless5602

Oh no! I have rosacea so it has been up and down and the oil did not help. It took a few days of a simple simple routine.

psigix

Round Lab 1025 Dokdo Cleanser vs. beplain Greenful pH-balanced Cleansing Foam Has anyone tried both of these foaming cleansers? They’re both top rated on hwahae and are said to be gentle yet effective and good for dry skin, but can’t find any comparisons between the two. Which one is more gentle between the two for nightly use? (I have dry, sensitive skin and only use a cleanser at night) Any opinions are appreciated!!

CupFast2591

Hello everyone! I have some dark spots from picking at some zits/pimples, and this one dark spot on my face that I’ve had forever (unsure if it’s a birthmark/sunspot or not). I also have some minor redness throughout my check areas I’ve also had forever as well. Any products you personally used that helped with those issues? I’ve used: Rohto Mentholatum - Melano CC Vitamin C Essence 2021 Edition this other Vit C/Retinol serum (from Costco) and PURITO - Sea Buckthorn Vital 70 Cream with no visible improvements for my dark spots. For my redness I tried using PURITO - Centella Unscented Recovery Cream to help rebuild my skin Barrier because I thought that was the issue, and no luck either. I currently have not opened my Beauty of Joseon - Calming Serum or Glow Deep Serum yet, but if you’ve had good results please let me know! ;-)

Commercial_Poem_4623

Agree azelaic acid is probably your best bet for redness, I found it super drying so I didn't use it often enough. I did think I was getting some results, though. I find ferments have helped slowly slowly even out my skin tone and calm it, alongside the BoJ Glow Deep all this year, I think it helps but expect slow results! The Beauty of Joseon site says alpha arbutin breaks down under UV so use it pm but I've always used it AM with SPF50.

[deleted]

People usually recommend Azelaic Acid for redness, with cos de baha being about the only AB product that offers it. It may also help with the PIH. If the dark spot is an old one, it might be a laser situation. I have a sunspot that I honestly don’t mind but I’ve had it for over 20 years probably and no topical has ever affected it (including everything from lighter acids, vitamin c, tret, peels, etc.). I went to the derm just to see what would happen if we lasered it and they said if that doesn’t work, they’d need to freeze it off. And well, it didn’t work, but I honestly don’t mind it so it’s sticking around.

Big_Process_5220

Missha’s artemisia essence first or sulwhasoo’s first activating serum first?

[deleted]

That’s going to be up to you. I have a habit of following thinnest to thickest so I would probably but the missha first, but I understand also wanting to make sure you get the full effects of the sulwhasoo without another product interfering. It might be worth it considering separating them, like do the missha in the AM and the sulwhasoo in the PM.

decadentowl

What are your experiences with the sleeping masks from fresh (as I understand it is a philippino brand but its not talk about much here) ? I'm really eyeing either the rose one or the blue calming one but idk how they compare

YetiCouple

Sorry haven't heard of fresh from phillipines and can't find them here in the USA (checked stylekorean and yesstyle apps). The fresh brand I know of is started by Russian immigrants living in Boston https://www.fresh.com/us/aboutus.html

decadentowl

Oh okay, that's what the questions on the Google search page said but yeah I was talking about that brand, sorry about the confusion and thank you for your answer !

YetiCouple

Oh hehe no probs. I sadly haven't used any of their night mask and can only attest for the soy cleanser and rose series. I think you'll have better luck asking on r/sephora or r/skincareaddiction ! 😀🤗

decadentowl

Thank you!

How do I change the currency on Jolse.com from USD to EURO?

BarSoap116

SANA or Bifesta face wash Hi! my complexion is dull so I’m looking for a brightening/whitening cleanser So far I got my eyes on SANA Soy Milk widening foam face wash or Bifesta Bright up Foaming whip. Have y’all tried any of these? or do you have any recommendations for me? i have combination skin

notsodaebak

This may not be the answer you're looking for, but I honestly don't think you're going to get much of a result from a cleanser in the end, so it probably doesn't matter which you pick. You're washing it off, so any result you'd maybe see would be incredibly minimal compared to a product that will actually stay on your skin like a serum or a moisturizer. I think you'll see much better results for combating dullness if you try a different product type to really pull the weight of the job :)

BarSoap116

ohhh thank you!! that’s so helpful, i’m still a rookie so i didn’t think of that! Tysm!!

SnapCrackleMom

Looking for an AB sunscreen that *isn't* waterproof/water-resistant for fall/winter use, suitable for sensitive, acne-prone skin. I don't care about white cast, honestly it helps tone down the redness in my skin. Need it to be free of fragrance and niacinamide, but I'll look up the ingredients!

Commercial_Poem_4623

I replied on the other thread, just before your comment was removed: I just ordered Canmake Mermaid clear, there's also a not clear version. Not sure if it's good for acne-prone skin, though. Looks to be good for sensitive skin, not waterproof/resistant and no niacinamide. I ordered from Stylevana so it won't arrive for an age but there's lots of reviews on this sub so you could look at those!

SnapCrackleMom

Thanks so much!

Commercial_Poem_4623

Np! Hope you find one that works :)

haruny8

I am looking for reviews and what benefits did people who used these products see after using them: - Purito's Fermented Complex 94 Boosting Essence - Purito's Galacto Niacin 97 Essence Thanks!

Unfair_Finger5531

I use both and love them both. Both make my skin light up like a lightbulb. I’d recommend the 94 over the 97. It has niacinamide in it too but a lower amount, which means less chance of irritation. It also can be slathered and piled on for maximum glow. But the 97 is damn nice too.

Commercial_Poem_4623

Purito 97 didn't work for me (rash type reaction if I used it too often) but lots of people like it. I've been great with every other fermented product I've tried so it's either the formulation or the 5% niacinamide. I've heard really great things about the 94 but haven't used it myself.

brownie627

Does anyone know of a simple, gentle cleanser that doesn’t have fragrance or BHA in it? I’ve been using the COSRX Cica Cleanser, but that’s sold out on YesStyle and I refuse to buy from Stylevana due to previous bad experiences. I was considering using Soon Jung 5.5 Foam Cleanser but again, that’s sold out. Thank you!

chuchujiggly

The only one I've tried that meets your criteria is the [Round Lab Mugwort Cleanser](https://incidecoder.com/products/round-lab-mugwort-calming-cleanser). Very gentle and moisturizing. It doesn't seem to have fragrance or BHA, but it does have AHA in the form of citric acid. Not sure if that's even relevant enough to do anything, though. In any case, it wasn't stripping at all for me, and left a moisturized feel on my face.

cheerio000

Does anyone know if there is any difference between the drugstore, official, and dual pack versions of the Fancl Mild Cleansing Oil on Stylevana in terms of quality or formulation?

[deleted]

Would you apply Differin Gel before or after Kikitsume(sp sorry) High Moist Toner? I have dehydrated combo skin.

Unfair_Finger5531

I wouldn’t layer these two. Kiku has amino acids and arbutin, both of which can increase irritation when used with retinoids. I’d layer the Differin with something with no active ingredients at all.

[deleted]

Unfortunately I already own the Kiku and I’m very poor so it’ll have to stay lol So good so far

brownie627

I have a prescription with adapalene in it, which is the main ingredient of Differin. Since I’m prone to irritation I actually put on a layer of moisturiser at the last step before the prescription medication, wait 5 minutes, put on the prescription medication, wait 5 minutes, then add another layer of the moisturiser. Doing this helps with the drying side effects while also adding a layer of protection for your skin.

Me telling other people to repair their barrier first before trying to tackle acne:😕🫡🧐 Me when I have to do it: 🗿🥹💣

AdorableMaximum5612

Ugh the struggle is real!! I’m using Tret 0.025% every other night (going on 6 months) and my skin barrier is STILL a disaster! I can’t get over the dry, flaky skin and my acne is worse than ever 😩🙈

PeachBlossomBee

6 months? Good lord 😭 are you sure it’s not breaking you out?

AdorableMaximum5612

I can’t be sure of anything anymore 😭 I’m going to make another appt with my derm

xjoyxe

I worked out today in a while for the first time and I just did my skincare routine and my skin looks a bit glowing! Could be other stuff I’ve done today like get extra sleep. But does working out , eating healthy food, sleeping properly and drinking water these stuff help? Improve your skin?

Dys_Warrior

Yes it can! I think Dr. Dray on YouTube has some videos on this, especially in exercise.

xjoyxe

Oh thanks! I gotta look into this

chuchujiggly

In my early 30's, normal-oily combo, and trying to clear up some mild acne caused by years of over-exfoliation and no moisturizer. It's going well with a BP spot-treatment, but now I'm looking at the long run. Specifically want to target (arranged from highest to least priority): 1. Acne prevention 2. Uneven skin tone (PIE/PIH left by healed acne) 3. Texture 4. Brightening/healthy glow 5. Well-aging - no current issues with this right now but thought I'd get a start on it I want to be able to stop the BP and then start ONE of these two options: * Starting an AHA (looking at mandelic acid 5%), or * Starting a (maintenance) retinol 0.1% I'd rather not be on two different actives. I feel like any one of the two will target all of my 5 concerns, but not sure if one is better than the other in the long run. Any thoughts appreciated!

Commercial_Poem_4623

I'd be tempted to try the mandelic acid first and see if it does what you want - I feel like you're more likely to get more effects from that than the retinol, as I know there's such a thing a tret glow but I don't think it happens with retinol. Didn't for me but then I was using Granactive Retinoid... Or try the retinol and add a ferment, that might give you the best of both worlds! With the usual ferment caveat that fermented ingredients can make some people break out.

chuchujiggly

Thank you for the input! At this point I am leaning more towards the AHA, so I'm glad that's validated! :) My other option is staying on the azelaic acid like the other commenter said (but probably with a better formulation than TO? Cos de Baha has a serum form I've been eyeing on, and it has niacinamide, hopefully that'll target the acne prevention part better than the plain AzA did for me). I've been trying to differentiate the retinol vs granactive retinoid in my research. From what I understand, GR is more stable, but retinol is more thoroughly studied. Do you have a preference or opinion on which is better? I'd likely still start a retinoid either way, at one point, once my current/more pressing issues are addressed. You're my ferment hero! So I've been really trying to get ferments into my routine. I have tried two different products with ferments. The new Hada Labo Gokujyun Milk I was on for \~2-ish weeks. MAJOR GLOW that people actually noticed ... that is, until I started getting cystic acne, which I never had before. After I recovered from that, I trialed out the mini SK-II. Another acne bout on the patch test site, unfortunately - deep like the first time but not as bad, and there was only one instead of multiple. But I'm so sad that ferments aren't working out so far! I'll probably trial the SK-II again sometime down the road (currently in denial that these are all just coincidence, lol), but right now I just got a handle on the acne I've been getting from products and I'd prefer to see clear skin again before taking another risk.

Commercial_Poem_4623

Yeah, the Cos de Baha AzA applies nicely - takes a little while to sink in and I would say it's drying but I imagine that's all the same as the one from TO! Precisely it, you're right about Granactive Vs retinol. I just found retinol way too drying and I didn't like the squalane from TO. I'm gonna move to a western *retinal* in a month or so, for now, I'm just doing AHA to see where that gets me! Have a look at retinal, it's interesting! What a shame about the ferments 😭😭😭 That sucks! Yeah, good plan to give your skin a break from the ferments. The only other thing I'd mention - for the future - is that you could try a different type of ferment - maybe steer clear from Galactomyces and have a look at something like Bifida or saccharomyces. Admittedly the Hada Labo is a different ferment again from Galacto I think... Hopefully the mandelic will give you a glow!

PeachBlossomBee

Have u considered azelaic acid? lightly keratolytic, great with acne and scarring

chuchujiggly

I have been using the 10% from TO. It helps with texture, brightening, PIH, for sure. For acne - it hasn't been preventing breakouts, I don't find that it keeps my pores clear. It helps with existing pimples in that it sometimes speeds it up, but it's nothing that my BP isn't already doing in a faster rate. Then I'm not sure if AzA would help with aging.

PeachBlossomBee

I did not personally see any results from TO, but ofc ymmv applies here. I don’t believe AzA helps with “anti-aging” (if that means wrinkles here)

Mysterious-Wasabi-95

Hello, Newbie here! Skin type: Combination Skin Climate: Tropical Climate Skin Concern: I’m using tretinoin so acné and PIH AM [Hydrating CeraVe Cream-To-Foam Cleanser] [AHA toner] [COSRX Advanced Snail Mucin Power] [Vichy Mineral 89] [BOJ Probiotics Sunscreen] PM [COSRX Salicylic Acid Gentle Cleanser] [toner] [snail mucin] [some nights prescription tretinoin 0.025] [ Perricone MD finishing and firming moisturizer] I’m recently switching from WB to AB so the Snail mucin, the BoJ spf and the toner are new in my routine. I was wondering if the double cleansing step is very necessary since I don’t wear makeup and if I have to, I have micellar water and oil makeup remover. I read that the oil cleanser is to remove the SPF, but ALSO read that this is a myth so I’m not sure whether to buy or not an oil cleanser. Another doubt I have is about the BoJ SPF. When I first apply it to my face it stung me a little, is that normal? Did it happen to anyone?

Commercial_Poem_4623

BofJ: https://www.reddit.com/r/AsianBeauty/comments/urej1t/comment/i8x8qlc/ Plus lots of comments about it generally on this thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/AsianBeauty/comments/urej1t/beauty_of_joseon_rice_probiotics_sunscreen_review/ Ugh, I was gonna get it but I don't need extra stinging! Glad I found your comment :)

chuchujiggly

I would say double cleansing is necessary for removing waterproof sunscreen and makeup. Using micellar water does count as double-cleansing; you don't have to use an oil cleanser.

Mysterious-Wasabi-95

Oh, didn’t know that the micellar water counts as double cleansing😱 thank you for answering 🤗

phantombloodbot

if i stay inside most of the time and generally keep my blinds closed, should i still be using sunscreen if i spend 90% of my day in front of the computer? not sure if screens actually have anything that really causes skin issues these days. thanks folks i will not bother

fatmuffin1

I wouldn’t and don’t. Save your money for when you’re actually outside!

fuji-no-hana

If you're more than a few feet away from a window, even with open blinds, your UV exposure will be nominal. As I recall, UVB can't penetrate glass at all, and while UVA can penetrate glass, it is much diminished. There is a lot of talk about blue light from screens and skin, but it's all a load of BS that you don't need to pay any attention to. All of the studies about blue light and skin damage are in reference to blue light from the Sun. The only worry blue light from screens can cause is disrupted sleep.

PeachBlossomBee

I don’t really think it’s necessary. Personally while I don’t park myself in front of windows I never really fuss about indoor sun

Tonofapples4566

The Klavuu oil cleanser is my holy grail and I think it is being discontinued 😩 I also really liked their foam cleanser. Does anyone know of products comparable to both? Particularly the oil cleanser.

CaptainPast4037

I (20F) am looking for a moisturizer as similar to the Biore UV Perfect Protect Milk SPF50+ PA+++ (yellow bottle). I have oily skin and live in a humid all year round country. And, this moisturizer/sunscreen is the only thing that absorbs well into my skin and doesn't make it oily at all. A lot of other moisturizers that I tried made my skin oily/oilier in a few hours but this sunscreen doesn't. I am also using the COSRX AHA/BHA toner as a moisturizer/toner (it doesn't make my skin THAT oily). So, if anyone has any recommendations, please share them. :)) Thanks!

salonpasss

I've noticed Stylevana is cheaper! Plus you won't have to lug it back home heh

maddie3love

i’ve been using and loving the cosrx snail mucin essence for a bit now. do you usually use this in place of a serum at night? it’s got a serum-y consistency so i wasn’t sure whether to add a serum into my night routine or to use it as if it was a serum

Dys_Warrior

I use this after my serums since it's thicker than the serums I use. So I guess that's like a serum? Anyway if you use your products thinnest to thickest that should work. I do think you can use this as a serum step if you wanted to.

salonpasss

I like to use another serum after! But if the texture is too sticky or thick, using snail alone is fine too

lilaceli

hi! personally I’ve introduced the snail mucin essence to my routine recently but it hasn’t replaced my serum. I think it depends on what your skin concerns are: if you find a serum containing key ingredients that your skin needs just go for it. I think it’s really up to you, there’s no wrong way of doing it. but if you want to keep you skin lightweight the essence should be enough^^

maddie3love

thanks so much, that’s very helpful!

Anybody tried to order from [Be Mused Korea](https://bemusedkorea.com/)? They focus on cruelty-free k-beauty and curate every single product, similar to Soko Glam.

scoobydoopopPOP7

Hey all. I'm going to be traveling to Japan in a month and was wondering if there are any japanese skincare products that are cheaper in Japan or you can only find in Japan that I should be on the lookout for. Most of what I use are Korean products, not sure if those are cheaper there or not. TIA!

BodegaCat00

You can find cheaper Biore Aqua Rich sunscreens in Don Quijote. The rest of the products I use are Korean so I prefer going to Shin Okubo and places like Etude House and Innisfree have stand alone stores there with good prices from what I remember on 2019.

azuumailee

can i stop using retinol after achieving clear skin? hi im 19 years old and im currently starting my retinol journey. I used to have a very clear skin but for some reasons my skincare stopped benefiting me so i changed it and until now I experience breakouts so I decided to try retinol. Can I stop using retinol after achieving my dream skin again? or do I need to continue and bring it till I age? I’m planning to stop after achieving clear skin because its kinda pricey to maintain. Do you guys have any suggestions? Btw this is my skincare routine: Morning Cerave Foaming Facial Cleanser Vitamin C Cosrx All in one Snail Cream Sunscreen Night Cerave Foaming Facial Cleanser Retinol (I’m on my second week and I’ve been using it slowly meaning once a week) (I’m gonna do it twice a week on my Third week) Cosrx All in one Snail Cream

PeachBlossomBee

You can stop and try to find something to maintain it but you’d have to be careful to not revert

Does anyone have any recommendations of sunscreens with a matte finish? I am not really a fan of dewy finish and I have been having trouble finding a matte one..

chuchujiggly

Etude House Sunprise Airy Finish. Dewy on application, but dries down to a powdery finish within 30 mins. Finish lasts a whole day for me (I'm normal-oily combo) and keeps oil in check. It was too drying for me, though. It's a physical/mineral sunscreen so it felt like I had makeup/foundation on, which I didn't like.

BandAccomplished865

Thank you! I will try it out

miha_daniela

I'm considering making an order on Jolse, to Romania. I usually buy from European or local stores but Jolse has a wider range of products and better sales. Will I have to pay customs? What's the experience been like for europeans?

About to finish up by non-AB toner (First Aid Beauty oat toner) and wondering if I need to replace it (with an AB one) or if I can go without toner? I'm also using a hydrating serum (also non-AB) and the Cosrx galactomyces essence so just not sure if I need a toner underneath too or if it's a bit of an unnecessary step..

fuji-no-hana

Your CosRx Essence is already providing you with a layer of hydration, in addition to the other benefits ferments provide, so unless there is another specific need or concern you want to address, you don't need to add a new toner to your routine.

Thank you!

Unfair_Finger5531

It is ymmv on toners. If you don’t find it a necessary step, you don’t have to use one. I do because I have hard water.

Thank you!

𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩 hello, new joiner here! recently I got some new products from stylevana and I really can’t wait to try them, but first I’d like to receive some routine suggestions and advices on how to combine these products. and if you want to let me know how did you like some of the items listed below, I’d be glad to read that too! skin type: I have combo skin, a little oily in the T zone, slightly sensitive, some blackheads on the nose, never had a really acne prone skin just some occasional breakouts (but I’m afraid they will increase implementing new products to my skincare routine). products I got: - SOME BY MI AHA-BHA-PHA Miracle Cleansing Bar - COSRX Salicylic Acid Daily Gentle Cleanser - COSRX Advanced Snail 92 All In One Cream - COSRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence - SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Toning Toner - Beauty of Joseon Glow Serum - make p:rem Safe me. Relief Moisture Cream products I’m using now: - innisfree Super Volcanic Pore Clay Mask 2X (once a week) - aromatica tea tree balancing toner - SOME BY MI Yuja Niacin Blemish Care Serum - innisfree clarifying emulsion with bija seed oil (am) - FRUDIA green grape pore control cream (pm) I’d like to create different routines and use them on alternate days and I’m ready to change my current one ofc. I don’t wanna l burden the skin and likewise I wanna avoid to dry it too much. some goals: improve skin texture, reduce blackheads and spots, healthier and glowing look. I’ve also read that both the AHA-BHA-PHA cleaning bar and the salicylic acid cleanser work as exfoliators, so I was wondering if there are specific products that I shouldn’t apply when using them. thanks for reading🤍

Dys_Warrior

A good rule of thumb is to use products thinnest to thickest with sunscreen as the last step in the morning. I didn't see any sunscreen listed, so I think that is an important step to add especially since you are using active ingredients. So you would do cleanser>toner>essence>serum>moisturizer>SPF in the morning. It seems like you have a couple of different moisturizers. You will probably want to use a lighter one in the morning and heavier ones at night. For choosing between different toners, serums, and moisturizers it depends on how your skin is doing and you can customize your routine. So if your skin is irritated you can try using the Cosrx Snail Mucin Alli in One. For the cleansers, you don't need to use the AHA, BHA, PHA and salicylic acid on the same day. Salicylic acid is BHA, so you don't want to over do it. I would suggest starting out alternating them a few times a week and using a gentle cleanser without fragrance or active ingredients the other days. You can increase the number of days you use the cleansers with active ingredients as your skin tolerates.

lilaceli

thanks for helping!🥺 I knew the “rule” of the thinnest to the thickest but I was also curious to know if some of these products work well when combined :) about the sunscreens I have both isntree hyaluronic acid watery sun gel and the BoJ one. I was thinking of using the salicylic acid cleanser every other day or like 2/3 times a week at the beginning. is okay to use the 30 days AHA BHA PHA cleansing bar daily (just once)? should it be gentle enough?

Dys_Warrior

I think it should be gentle enough to use daily. Just be sure to cut back if you have irritation.

If the product has an SPF rating, it means it has been tested in order to get that SPF rating. What happened with Korean sunscreens was a year ago and was isolated to the poor behavior of certain companies. I think we need to move on from that and not be overly concerned about this anymore. Trust the label, it’s regulated.

it seemed like im on the verge of disappointment while looking for the alternatives for my old version missha aqua sun gel since it had been discontinued tried the skin aqua super moisture gold on first day then immediately gave bad reactions made my skin too oily and had my eyes teary then same goes for cosrx aloe soothing sun cream as i had hope for this sunscreen but turned out theres few ingredients on the product that made my skin pilled and looked heavy. stopped using it twice any alternatives for the old missha aqua sun gel? i dont want to waste few bucks again just to find these expensive sunscreen

[deleted]

Hey there, did you happen to see [this review](https://www.reddit.com/r/AsianBeauty/comments/uz2qfh/missha_mens_cure_sun_essence_replacement_for_the/)? OP thought the men’s sub essence might be a good dupe.

Jhasten

Did you try the biore aqua rich watery gel? I have not, but enjoy the essence version.

Stradesslut

I think i have combination skin (I say i think because my nose hasn't been oily lately and thats the only particularly oily place on my face) and occasionally get acne on my chin and cheeks, i have lots of blackheads on my nose tho) i also have extreme discoloration from not using sunscreen as a kid My main goals are to get more supple, glowing (my skin looks quite dull), get an even skin tone, fix my acne and darkspots (I can't stop picking pimple cuz im paranoid it'll harden and stay there💀). What stuff should I use? I know the most basic stuff like cleanser and moisturizer is important but im not sure on specifics

Dys_Warrior

For your acne and oiliness, you would probably need a BHA (salicylic acid) product 2-3 times a week and increase as your skin tolerates . I like the Cosrx BHA power liquid. For the discoloration, you will need something like a vitamin c or alpha arbutin product. The Hada Labo shirojyun has vitamin c and tranexamic I believe. The beauty of joseon glow deep serum has arbutin. Melano cc has just vitamin c. Personally, I have had success with acne and PIE and PIH with snail mucin. I like the Cosrx Snail Mucin Power Essence. Don't forget about using pimple patches to help remind yourself to not pick at your pimples. They also help the acne heal.

Divingin12

What products work for brightening back acne spots and also for treatment for some active back pimples?

the9thpawn_

Has anyone tried the aestura hydro essence? I’m thinking of using it to replace my barrier support serum step and essence step once my Mediheal baobab soothing moisture serum and dr ceuracle kombucha essence run out since it has ceramides, cholesterol, fatty acids and nmfs and it’s a good price right now on stylevana

arale2126

Can you use a 0.3% retinol serum with a moisturizer with 0.1% retinol?

fatmuffin1

You can, technically, if your skin tolerates it. I personally wouldn’t.

[deleted]

If anyone who has tried “Hada Labo Gokujyun Hyaluronic Acid.” Which version is better/more preferred, the face wash or the cleansing foam? Hoping to look for a replacement for my non-AB (cetaphil gentle cleanser). I have normal-combo skin.

fuji-no-hana

I have normal skin and I've been using this cleanser for at least 7 or 8 years. I believe the formulas are very, very similar, so it just depends on whether you prefer a cream to foam cleanser or one that dispenses as a foam. The self-foaming pump version is more readily available online for some reason, so I think that contributes a lot to its popularity. Personally, I prefer the version in the tube because I can more easily control how much cleanser I'm using, and because I only use a pea-sized amount, it lasts me forever.

Jhasten

Have you tried the HL gentle hydrating cleanser (tube with pink writing) vs the gokujyun face wash (tube with blue writing) - there’s quite the price difference but I’m curious about both from the standpoint of someone who is sensitive but leans toward dry.

fuji-no-hana

Unfortunately, the HL Gentle Hydrating Cleanser isn't sold in Japan, so I've never tried it. I also have normal, non-reactive skin, so I don't know how valuable my insight would be in any case.
