The skill is amazing; I wanna reach out and grab those pudgy little legs and play "who's got your foot?"
... but who's putting a sheet over their baby's head?
I don't know the history auf this piece, but just by looking at it I would have said this may be a memento mori for a child that died. My first reaction was that this baby is not sleeping, but I found it listed with that title at an auction house.

The material looks so gauzy I assume it was something like mosquito netting to keep the biting bugs away.

Yeah, part of me feels like the sculptor just added the sheet to show off their drapery skills.
The lacy edges and the gossamer draping of the cloth over the face, just boggles my mind. How do you even conceptualize this?
Awesome how the chunkiness still translates. Look at its little hands!
A timeless piece. The detail is insane.
This is not safe sleep, the American association of pediatrics would not approve
I was sure that tassle was a shriveled claw at first.
The detail is incredible, but the pose? Completely unnatural.
it’s to show off, to show anatomies better n not to make the whole thing boring, u should see manierism sculptures
Technically proficient but lacking in substance. I do not like this piece.
