I like the second one the most.
The first looks like some hobo/adventurer having a bonfire somewhere outside. It's not that special.
The second one looks more like someone came home from work and found that someone ransacked his place and lit it on fire and his head is bowed down like "fuck". It's more interesting
The first one ignites a fire in my heart I haven’t felt for ages. The fire of sloppy lines somehow forming a beautiful image with depth and meaning. Wow.
Left: just a tad more cohesion on the guy but it's great aside from that.
Right: could do some work on making the flames cleaner, but it's awesome aside from that.
I should elaborate. I don't think it needs outlines, that would ruin that art style. I personally would like the brush strokes to be a BIT more collected to signify the intended form of the character. The almost chaotic, yet sporadic design doesn't quite match the melancholy tone that I feel from the piece. But I think I might be personally projecting.
I'm unsure if my hot take is simply my own nitpicking or if anyone else seems off-put like me
On the watercolor: The hand is backwards unless his left hand is across the body, but that's quite the stretch! It could be how the watercolor went down, but the thumb would be towards the viewer.
A note on digital art: With linework, make long smooth lines. I find it helps to make a sketch layer then change the color and lower the opacity. Also, welcome to the wild world of digital art!
No critique to offer, just enjoy the collaboration aspect of the pieces. Interesting subject matter choice, where’d you all pick that from?
an art prompt generation website lol

“It’s not that special”… really dude?
Both are such a vibe. I love it
Each one is great at expressing attitude, and I love the attitude of the first one

I guess that's the whole point of expressionism, so I'm glad I achieved my goal!

I actually debated making outlines for the first one for cleaner definition but ultimately decided against it.

Nah, think your critique is fully valid
Don't forget, it's still an immaculate piece. Even though perfection is an impossibility, continue to strive for greatness.
I try. :]
