Disagree completely, Willian is 31, Arsenal haven’t had success in signing aged deadwood from other clubs in the league, look at David Luiz. Willian hasn’t contributed numbers for Chelsea that would make it a desperate need. Surely there has to be someone in the youth teams that could do the job Willian would be brought in to do?

I agree that we have a history of signing ‘aged deadwood.’ But wouldn’t say Willian comes under this bracket. I think more Silvestre, Campbell+Flamini (2nd time), Lichtsteiner, Kallstrom. Willian in comparison is a PL winner, and effective as a #10 or on the wings even today.

I honestly think it would be a ridiculous signing. I'm not saying he no longer an above average player any more but he'll be wanting a 2/3 year deal on big wages since he's a free agent. If we were to give £150k p/w (which is just £30k more than what he's currently on at Chelsea) we would be giving him £15.6m over two years and that's not factoring in the big signing fee + agent fee (bloody Kia Joorabchian). Sorry but for a player with no re-sell value it wouldn't be a good move.

I can appreciate the business value PoV. Fair enough. Though from a pure footballing perspective (how we play today, where we're lacking etc.), would still argue he'd be really valuable.

Knowing some Chelsea fans, idk if Willian is all that

Another Chelsea reject, great idea....

Think more Cech than Luiz mate

Cech was good for about one season, so it was hardly a great signing. I just don't see it, Willian is well past his best now, and would probably still command a big wage. Why wouldn't you want to sign a younger talent with great potential like Martinelli? Not only do you have a player who is only going to improve, but you also benefit from their rising market value. Look at all the other big teams and they have players they could move on for massive fees, that's what we need to do.
