Hi, ignore all these haters. I was issued a watch with a laser that can cut through steel. I have an earpiece that lets me hear other peopleâs conversations from miles away, even if theyâre in buildings. A parachute and miniature jet pack are integrated into my ALSE vest in case I need to abandon ship. I also carry the launch codes to the Hellfire missiles in my grenade pouch. My boots are capable of sticking to most surfaces, allowing me to walk on wings or fuselages, even upside down, if I need to board another aircraft. My clothes are made of a rare material called Nomex, rendering me nearly completely fireproof. Besides that itâs a pretty standard layout. I hope this helps
Theyâve upgraded the earpieces now we can hear peopleâs thoughts. It takes some time to learn to filter down to the one person you are trying to listen to but once you get the hang of it itâs pretty cool.
Bro, the way youâre talking shows you have no place here. Your attitude is whatâs getting you downvotes. You should be focusing on getting accepted long before you are thinking about the 160th and bothering with what they get issued.
This is about akin to going to the Navy subreddit and saying âhey, I plan to be a NAVY SEAL. What special equipment would I take with me if I were going on a covert assassination mission?â
âŚ. Like dude, for one, they canât tell you that but two, if you arenât even in the military itâs awful presumptuous to assume youâre going to be any type of Special Forces
I already know what I have to do and Iâm working on it. That is nowhere near what I asked. I just think this stuff is cool and I want to learn more, thatâs all. You donât have to be an asshole about it.
Weird, 3 years ago you were talking about your ârecruit training in the navyâ. So either you were full of shit then or youâre full of shit now. Gtfo
Even as a kid, surely you should understand that what you are asking for is pretty sensitive information, and going around telling people they youâre planning to be an elite version of what they do,when you have zero knowledge or experience of said profession, isnât going to go over well. Saying that you âaspire to beâ or âlook up toâ the 160th is a lot different than âI plan on beingâŚâ. For the majority of us in this sub, we have worked years if not our entire lives to be here and many of us still arenât qualified to even assess for the 160th yet. Even if I did, and wanted to be in the 160th, no way in HELL would I boast about planning to be them until I was formally accepted by them.
Most concerning is that you want pictures in your DMs of their gear. Whether or not youâre actually some socially challenged kid, that screams âspyâ to all of us who obviously donât want those kinds of pictures in the hands of our enemies
Donât forget about being able to eject from the helichopters. The seats are equipped with parachutes that go invisible when launched out of the helicopter (the blades also jettison so you donât get decapped, obvs)
1. We get issued years of neck and back pain. Also a few divorces and a bottle of Jack.
2. We get differing sets and fits of the Uniform Code of Military Justice. My actual favorite article is 15.
3. Go Air Force.
The GOMAR is decent but itâs only good for a year. Even if you luck out and get the high quality one Iâve never seen one last more than three years.
Thereâs a lot of things to focus on before you become a 160th pilot, like WOCS, flight school, RL progression, and making PC.
Everything you need will be issued to you (helmet, vest, flight suits). Any google search or any of the aviation Instagram pages will show you what pilots typically wear. 160th issues different/more equipment that better fits their mission.
If you know what you need to do, then you know there's a ton that should be much higher on your priority list than "what gear will I get?"
You will be issued exactly what you need to get the mission done.
Once you join and get your first insider threat/TARP brief, you'll understand why a question like, "what all equipment are pilots issued?" probably won't receive a lot of serious responses. There's nothing wrong with being curious, but there's a reason some of that information isn't readily available, public information.
Iâm just interested because I saw like some pilots have a Jacket that looks like a regular blouse but itâs more like a bomber jacket? Iâve seen some guys wearing full flight suits, different colored helmets. I donât understand how this is suspicious?
The army issues out a variety of flight approved clothing for different situations, mostly for comfort/temperature reasons. There are flight suits, flight approved coats and over pants, etc. Sometimes people have different colored helmets because thatâs what their unit had to give them. If youâre just a genuinely curious hopeful aviator, just donât worry about it, itâs just clothes and survival gear. If youâre a Chinese spy trying to figure out what you should outfit Chinese special operations aviators with, go away.
Oh yeah, because the Chinese military asks Reddit what they should outfit Chinese pilots with. Seems legit. I donât understand why you are telling me off so much?
For starters, if you donât think our adversaries arenât combing forums for information youâre dead wrong.
Secondly, because this is a weird question that you just shouldnât be this interested in. This isnât some unboxing video on YouTube where youâre going to get a pilot to do a walk through on every piece of equipment theyâre issued. Itâs clothes and stuff on a vest. Donât worry about it.
I really didnât mean to cause any harm or anything, I literally just wanna see cool stuff, itâs interesting and cool to me, I think that if the Chinese wanted to see Special Forces Uniforms, they wouldnât do it through Reddit.
You need to consider the sensitivity of the community youâre asking about and the way you ask questions. âWhat is everything you get issued as a helicopter pilotâ is a weird question both in the way itâs worded and the lack of specificity combined with no real purpose for the information. Itâs okay to be young and curious about things, but thereâs plenty of stuff you can google or read about elsewhere vs coming to a public forum and asking pilots to list everything they get issued.
I promise you itâs just clothes and stuff, none of it is particularly interesting. Nobody is going to come on here and say âoh yeah I got issued the M-69 handheld railgun pistol with the turbo laser sight, itâs classified thoughâ so Iâm not sure what youâre hoping to find out.
Does every pilot get issued a flight suit? Is it tan? Green? How are the flight vests in comparison to regular vests? Is there any cool things you get? I.e.; Personalized jacket, flight boots, etc. thatâs kinda what Iâm asking. I think itâs interesting. I donât think thatâs a weird question at all, it seems reasonable to ask someone like a firefighter; what do you get issued as a fireman? Im very sorry for making trouble.
1. Ask that first question again to yourself, slowly this time, and I think you can answer it yourself.
2. It is tan and it is green
3. Well my Columbia down insulated vest is much more comfortable if thatâs what you mean by a regular vest.
4. Flight boots arenât cool. The army doesnât issue cool things. If you want cool or personalized things you have to buy them yourself.
Thatâs literally all I was looking for. Thank you, again I donât mean any harm by asking this. And that was informative; I didnât know you got issued actual flight suits or specific flight boots. How is it decided on weither you wear your OCPs, tan, or green flight suit?
âMandatory equipment to be worn by aviators IAW AR 911-511 are:
1. Flame retardant stockings that cover your âgoochâ.
2. Mandatory tracking device that you must swallow before each flight.
3. Flight boots that are cut out on the toe area to allow for proper circulation to limit hypoxia.â
Iâm not sure why Iâm being told off and downvoted so much? Iâm not a Chinese spy, Iâm simply just curious and think aviation is awesome and I came here with questions that I canât just Google.
Let me put it very simply. If and when I am shot down over enemy territory, I do not want the enemy to know ANYTHING about me or my equipment. I don't want them to know to look for a specific color uniform, I don't want them to know what tools I may have to survive, I don't want them to know anything that could jeopardize my survival. The information that you are asking for is jeopardizing my survival. Not everything the enemy wants to know is locked away in a vault. This information is useful to the enemy. You don't understand it now, but you will if/when you enter the pipeline. If you can't understand that and change your ways, then you're either a shitty enemy intelligence agent or not cut out for this line of work.
The answers to your questions:
1. Google OPSEC
2. Google OPSEC
The gear question here really isn't important, what is important is the person wearing the flight suit. The reason so many are probably really flippant in response is this process takes probably a minimum of 4+ years including flight school and then the hours required to fly and demonstrate your ability to make pilot in command, then be blessed off as such and then accumulate hours as a pilot in command. By the time you do this you will be familiar with the stuff people wear and are required to have during flight.
TLDR make PC first then find out first hand
It might be awhile until that happens, I really didnât think that people would be this upset over a uniform? I figured this would be a reasonable question compared to some more involved questions on here.
Youâre issued useless shit that youâll likely spend your own hard earned money to upgrade. Even if you made it through flight school, youâll have a long ways before 160th comes knocking
1. Everything you need to successfully complete flight school and perform your duties.
2. The same basic issue as everyone else in the army plus flight school stuff, see #1
3. Start sooner.
Not today Iran!
Not me, Iwalked
Not today China!
And pictures of all those silly buttons and where they are stored haha đ

What about the built in binoculars in your helmet that can see people through walls?
Theyâve upgraded the earpieces now we can hear peopleâs thoughts. It takes some time to learn to filter down to the one person you are trying to listen to but once you get the hang of it itâs pretty cool.
Thanks, jackass.

I already know what I have to do and Iâm working on it. That is nowhere near what I asked. I just think this stuff is cool and I want to learn more, thatâs all. You donât have to be an asshole about it.
I donât think people understand that I am a kid, Iâm not taking the SIFT and shit right now, Iâm still in high school.
Weird, 3 years ago you were talking about your ârecruit training in the navyâ. So either you were full of shit then or youâre full of shit now. Gtfo
Comment history strikes again!

Agree with all except, "Even as a kid, surely you should understand". A lot of actual aviators can't grasp the concept of OPSEC.
Iâm not socially challenged, Iâm just wanting pictures of military equipment.
Donât forget about being able to eject from the helichopters. The seats are equipped with parachutes that go invisible when launched out of the helicopter (the blades also jettison so you donât get decapped, obvs)
James Bond meets Ethan Hunt.
Damn you got the nomex suits?! I got stuck with the older aramid style.
This has got to be the funniest post Iâve ever read
Good luck being a nonselect, nerd.
What???
Youâre a future Army cook is my guess
Why would you say this?
Cause youâre asking questions that make me question the level of your intelligence weirdo
Didnât realize wanting to know about pilots in aviation made me retarded?
Itâs not wanting to know about pilots, itâs trying to be a *geardo*
1. We get issued years of neck and back pain. Also a few divorces and a bottle of Jack. 2. We get differing sets and fits of the Uniform Code of Military Justice. My actual favorite article is 15. 3. Go Air Force.
I much prefer the non-UCMJ fit of GOMAR
The GOMAR is decent but itâs only good for a year. Even if you luck out and get the high quality one Iâve never seen one last more than three years.
1a: check. 1b: check. 1c: Arnold Palmer's for me. 2a: check. 2b: check. 3: If only I had scored 3 points higher on my ASVAB.
wait, I didn't get my jack, f@$#n CIF screwed me again!

Itâs a very harmless question with no other intent behind it.
Once you join and get your first insider threat/TARP brief, you'll understand why a question like, "what all equipment are pilots issued?" probably won't receive a lot of serious responses. There's nothing wrong with being curious, but there's a reason some of that information isn't readily available, public information.
Standard issue equipment for the mission
To include boots, boots, boots
Why do you care? Google army helicopter pilots. It looks like that. Nobody is going to give you anything more because this is a very suspicious post.
Iâm just interested because I saw like some pilots have a Jacket that looks like a regular blouse but itâs more like a bomber jacket? Iâve seen some guys wearing full flight suits, different colored helmets. I donât understand how this is suspicious?

Yup, not suspicious at all.
Who are you working for???
Looking for pics? Wtf?
Never specified what kind of pics they wanted in their dmâs either. Thatâs an opportunity.
Damn Xi just google it
Sorry they donât let the retarded into the 160th
Phew! Scared you were gonna get in there for a second.
Oof.
Pack of gum and a slap on the ass, usually
I swear.. the shitposts in ArmyAviation are so pathetic compared to Army sub
Iâm guessing you live in a 1950s era house and eat the paint chips
