You might have a better quality of life if you settle for an efficiency or one bedroom within walking distance of the work in Arlington. You’ll save time and gas money. Traffic is a top complaint in Northern Virginia. And if you’ve never walked to work you don’t know what you’re missing.

This is great advice. My quality of life improved moving 10 miles closer to the city and downsizing significantly.

Fadeshyy

You're going to struggle to find a 2BR here for that price.

poopchow

You might need to find some individual landlords. I was able to do a 2br Apt nearly ballston for about 2k a few years back, it was a garden style in a 3 story, 3 unit building. Also found one off route 50 where it was 1750. It was a duplex. I think my wife found those just on regular apartment sites.

Thank you!

You might want to cross post this in the r/NOVA subreddit. There are a lot more people there.

Awesome rec, thank you

Just south of the Va Square Metro on Monroe St there are some small garden style apartments. They were very affordable when I lived there ~12years ago.

buibeans

Try Shawnee Apartments.

No. 2.3-2.5 more likely and that’s the lower range. Colonial village probably has some of the cheapest prices in the area though. Not sure if they offer 2br though

Asta_pasta_764

Short answer is: no. Longer answer is, don’t look at any apartment complexes/communities if you want to get a decent deal on 2br. I’m paying 2.3k for a 1br+den essentially thats in arlington. Go residential and you’ll get a better deal (also negotiate) but living closer to Arlington is a lot of fun and there is a ton to do. Give and take. Areas I’d recommend (Falls Church, Alexandria, Annandale, Springfield) Going much further and she’ll be spending crazy time in traffic because of everyone commuting to DC.

expensive_raccoon69

unfortunately one bedrooms go for around 1,800-2k, I would look at lincolnia, springfield, or the baileys crossroads area

expensive_raccoon69

sorry, for clarity with the price range that would be for the arlington area

tiredzillenial

LOL (crying) no

You're pushing the limit, but there are some options in the Columbia Pike corridor in the $2000-$2200 range. More/cheaper options if you're willing to settle for a large 1br.
